December 21st 2007 figure news roundup (updated)

A whole lot of action on the figure front to sum up today, including a continuation of Cerberus Project’s collaboration with Wafuudou Ganguten, a faux trap figure from Toy’sworks that’s almost Bridgetlicious, a bunny Haruhi + guitar prize figure, a review of the Haruhi itasha model first seen back at the Miyazawa Model exhibition, a step-by-step tour through a Nakoruru castoff, a couple of new angles on Alter’s Kanu, and a Keumaya update. Figure News: Mabinogi Nao up at Orchid Seed, Kojika Play Stationery Mimi and Kuro prototypes unveiled

Orchid Seed’s Nao PVC figure from Mabinogi was first brought to our attention at the Miyazawa Model Exhibition last month, and last night she found her way into an official listing on the maker’s site along with a companion Miyazawa limited color version. The unlimited version clocks in at 1/7 scale (26 cm tall with staff) and 7,400 yen retail, with release scheduled for April. According to the product description she comes with a full change of clothes (presumably the white version pictured), though it’s unclear precisely how the castoff mechanism works. Sculpt is from rookie creator Ribun, thus far only credited on Orchid’s Seinarukana Satsuki. It is currently unknown how the Miyazawa color version will be released. News continues below:

Figure News: CM’s’ lifesize Kokonoe Rin figure now in color

Figure maker CM’s updated the official site for their Kodomo no Jikan Kokonoe Rin vinyl figure today with photos of her finished color version, and I must say they’re underwhelming. CM’s incompetence at smaller scales is well documented, but I thought they’d have an easier time with something closer to human size… apparently not. I’d imagine some who preordered before these shots appeared are having second thoughts right about now. (no more)

[ERO] Goods News: Kodomo no Jikan’s Kokonoe Rin comes to Comiket 73 in a snow globe

Word is in from Amiami this evening that Pink Company, purveyors of many odd character goods, will be releasing a Kokonoe Rin snow globe on December 29th, 2007 (the first day of Comic Market 73). The item is based on the frontspiece illustration of chapter 17 of the Kodomo no Jikan manga, featuring Rin clad in her birthday suit and scarf in front of a Christmas tree and surrounded by falling snowflakes. The spirit of the season indeed! Clocking in at 10 cm tall and 2,500 yen retail, in addition to its availability for preorder from Amiami the item is expected to go on sale at Pink Co.’s Comiket booth; other than these two locations availability is uncertain, so a proxy order may be advised for those interested internationally. Figure News: Kokonoe Rin Play Stationery now in color

We scooped Solid Theater‘s upcoming Kodomo no Jikan Play Stationery figure lineup last month, and the goods section of the official Kojika anime site updated today with a first glimpse at what Kokonoe Rin will look like in color. Release is scheduled for next spring, and while the price has yet to be disclosed she’s sure to be a fair sight more affordable than her life-sized counterpart… Images below:

Figure News: CM’s’ near-lifesize Kokonoe Rin vinyl figure goes up for preorder

The full purchasing details of the Kojika Rin figure we’ve been tracking for the past few weeks are now online, and it’s not good news for international fans. You can put her in your shopping basket, but to check out you (or a proxy) needs to be in Japan, pay either the lump sum of 70,000 yen (shipping included) up front via bank transfer, or pay 10,000 yen via bank transfer and then the rest when the item ships. We still don’t have a precise release window, but at least there are some higher resolution pics online (albeit of the unpainted prototype). We’ll keep an eye out for a finished version of the kit, and any additional news about possible international availability. (no more)

Figure News: Solid Theater’s Play Stationery line meets Kodomo no Jikan

Word is in from Akiba Blog today that Solid Theater, makers of the stationery-themed bishoujo Play Stationery figure line, has received permission from the publisher of Kodomo no Jikan to create a Play Stationery series based on the manga and TV anime‘s three main heroines, Kokonoe Rin, Kagami Kuro, and Usa Mimi. The new series will be called Play Stationery 3(rd Graders) with Kodomo no Jikan, and Rin will be based on the original pencil sharpener figure, Kuro will be based on the eraser case, and Mimi will be based on the ruler. No pricing details or release time frame has been presented, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this. (no more)

Figure News: CM’s’ 1:1 scale Kokonoe Rin gets a price, release timeframe

CM’s‘ near life-sized Kojika Kokonoe Rin figure we scooped here two weeks ago has been updated with pricing information and an approximate release window. You can purchase your very own lascivious elementary school student for a mere 65,000 yen (68,250 yen tax included), or roughly USD $580, and she’ll arrive at your door “next spring”. We’ll continue our surveillance of this most suspicious item as more information comes to light, for justice. And by justice I mean Justice. (no more)

Anime News: Kodomo no Jikan broadcast schedule settled (?), official blog claims “takebacks”

The official site for the Kodomo no Jikan anime posted an apology yesterday clarifying the chain of events leading up to the show’s broadcast cancellation on the AT-X cable/satellite network. As AT-X had earlier claimed, the network wanted to broadcast the show (in its fully censored version) with an age warning attached. The anime production committee did not agree, citing a desire for the show to reach “the broadest audience possible”, and thus the broadcast was pulled. Earlier the official Kojika anime blog had claimed that the blame for the cancellation lay entirely with the AT-X editorial staff, a claim which was retracted yesterday by erasing of the offending post. Out of sight, out of mind, apparently… at any rate, at present broadcast has been confirmed to continue on both Chiba TV and KBS Kyoto, as well as the upcoming free Biglobe webcast. The future of the controversial show is secure, for now. (no more)

Figure News: Kotona Elegance (costume ver.), Kokonoe Rin reissue coming from Max Factory

Goodsmile updated their official site today with two items of Max Factory news: firstly that a Kotona Elegance (costume ver.) PVC figure from Zoids: Genesis will be coming from the brand in February of next year at 1/7 scale (18 cm tall) and 6,800 yen; and secondly that their POLO System [ERO] Kokonoe Rin PVC from Kodomo no Jikan will be reissued yet again, scheduled for rerelease in November. Great news for the Kotona fans, and great news for Max’s wallet with the reissue timing… given current circumstances they shouldn’t have any trouble at all selling as many castoffable Rin figures as they choose to produce. Figure News: CM’s announces near life-size Kokonoe Rin vinyl figure from Kodomo no Jikan

Figure maker CM’s today put a page up on their official site detailing the production of a near 1/1 scale Kokonoe Rin soft vinyl figure, pictured here in the company of Rin’s anime voice actress, Kitamura Eri. While no details regarding the price or release date are yet forthcoming, this item is sure to be another gaudy piece of evidence to bandy around in the controversy surrounding the property both in Japan and abroad. We’ll be keeping tabs on this as further information regarding the figure is brought to light. (no more)
