Figure News: more Hatsune Miku Nendoroid pictures

More Miku preorder listings have been going up unofficially over the past twenty four hours, including one at Amazon, and we now have incontrovertible proof of her leekness. She was also present in the plastic today at the Dengeki 15th Anniversary Festival, and Akiba Hobby was there to shoot an exhaustive review (no leek in evidence, alas). She’s also pictured in Dengeki’s official coverage, as well as below:

Figure News: Dengeki 15th Anniversary figure fallout

Publishing company Mediaworks (parent of the Dengeki magazine lines) is holding a festival to mark the brand’s 15th anniversary this weekend at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, and several figure makers were there to hawk their wares and unveil a few new items in the process. Word is still coming in from the event hall floor, but what we know at present is shown below:

Figure News: Hatsune Miku Nendoroid, Shuraki Needa preorder dates confirmed

Just a quick note before running off to Comic Creation: according to online shop Digitamin preorders for the Hatsune Miku Nendoroid (scooped yesterday) are scheduled to officially open at midnight on November 26th, with preorder opening for Shuraki series #4 Needa on the 27th. The Miku preorder is also hinted at in an official email to stores from Goodsmile, which says there will be a special announcement occurring on Nico Video at 24:00 o’clock on the 25th (midnight of the 26th)… A feeding frenzy is expected to surround both kits, so we’ll be watching for further preorder information as it is forthcoming. Figure News: January ’08 Hobby Japan preview

Hot on the heels of this morning’s Hatsune Miku Nendoroid leak comes further scoopage from the as-yet unpublished pages of the January ’08 issue of Hobby Japan magazine! On the Queen’s Blade front we get our first look at Megahouse’s Shizuka in color (scooped back at Wanfesu), along with the news that she’s due out next spring at 5,775 yen and is castoffable. We get looks beneath the clothing of both Airi and Nix as well, with Nix revealed as a lower castoff. We have word that an Izuruha figure will accompany a box set release of the four volumes of Ru Li Lu Ra manga (details in the next HJ issue). Word from Goodsmile as well that they’re producing a Kuonji Shinra figure from Kimigashu (no details yet), and a look at the MMS Yoko action figure coming from Konami in December. Last but not least we have Akashiya Moka from Rosario to Vampire coming from Shueisha on May 23rd at 5,000 yen, and what for me is the heart-stopping revelation of the issue: the Orchid Seed Ishiyama Satoshi-sculpted Witchblade Shiori kit scooped at the Miyazawa Model Exhibition is coming out in resin at Hobby Complex 02 this Sunday, November 25th. Holding my breath until the PVC announcement… visual evidence below:

Figure News: Nendoroid Hatsune Miku, Lucky Star Petit series unveiled – UPDATE – Miku preorder?!

Scans have begun leaking on 2chan’s Mokeiura board from this month’s issue of Hobby Japan magazine, and the first to surface is the revelation that explosively popular virtual idol Hatsune Miku is to see a Nendoroid rendition come next March. She’s listed with a price point of 3,000 yen and typical Nendoroid accessories, clocking in at 10 cm tall. Revealed simultaneously is the news that a Nendoroid Petit series featuring the main female cast of Lucky Star (Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, Miyuki, and Akira) is to be released! The figures will go on sale in March at 500 yen each and are approx. 6.5 cm tall. As far as we know neither are scheduled to be limited in the way that the full size Lucky Star Nendoroid release was. HJ magazine scan below. 16:30 Update: online shop Rakuten Sproutoy briefly had Miku up for preorder a few minutes ago, complete with color image (see below). Word is that she does in fact come with a leek…. She sold out in seconds, and is likely to disappear equally quickly wherever she appears. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any further info.

Figure News Roundup: Saber Alter, Shuraki, Win-chan, Manaka cold cast

A few updates on figures we’ve been covering over the past few days: Solid Theater’s Saber Alter is now up at the maker’s official site, up at Goodsmile, and up for preorder. More interesting is the news that she is 1/8 scale, but she was resculpted based on a 1/10 kit (see the lowest picture in that entry). She retails in March at 6,800 yen (ouch) with a sculpt from Toda Satoshi. In Shuraki news, Vol. 2 Riu Meifeng shipped from Goodsmile yesterday and is shipping from wholesalers today. Vol. 4 Needa was also updated today with a first look at the interior of the artbook that accompanies her – very tasty stuff. Finally, the new Win-chan we mentioned earlier today is now up for preorder in both regular and limited edition colors, and New Line has a preorder listing up for a Komaki Manaka cold cast (March release, 1/6 scale, 24 cm tall, 14,490 yen retail) that justice demands see a PVC release at half the price. Justice! (no more)

Figure News: Goodsmile presents a first look at Solid Theater’s Saber Alter, Shuraki #4

Toda Satoshi’s (Yume no Kagutsuchino Koukoku) Solid Theater produced, Goodsmile disributed Saber Alter arrived at Goodsmile’s offices today, according to the official Goodsmile blog. It features the fanatical attention to detail at a remarkably small scale that made his Kazeko kit so popular (with me at least), and unless my eyes are broken this time as well I’d say she’ll be a very popular item (who can resist a kit that looks like a cross between Saber and Diablo?). With her in Goodsmile hands we can expect preorders up soon. In other news from Goodsmile, Needa, the Yamashita Shunya designed fourth entry to the Shuraki multimedia figure series, has a color prototype of her kit online as well – complete with 360° rotating video. I’m really digging the zettai ryouiki on this one… :3 (no more)

Figure News: Goodsmile maid Saber and Rin rereleases set for next March

Word is in from figure maker Goodsmile today that their Saber (maid ver.) and Rin (maid ver.) PVCs from Fate/stay night will be reissued in March of ’08 to coincide with the release of their maid version Rider (announced yesterday). Maid Saber originally went on sale in March of this year at 4,800 yen (1/8 scale, 18.5 cm tall) while maid Rin was released in June with similar price and size specifications. (no more)

Figure News: Goodsmile / Max Factory’s March ’08 lineup unveiled! Includes maid Rider, AT2 Ruka, Bridget

Figure maker Goodsmile updated their official site today with three new items scheduled for release in March of next year. First up is what they’re billing in English as Rider Fantasy: Modest Maid, featuring the vituperative antagonist of Fate / stay night in a rather more mild setting. She’ll be coming from Goodsmile at 1/8 scale (21.5 cm tall) and 5,800 yen. Next up is Ruka, one of the two main heroines of Gust / Banpresto’s bishoujo RPG Ar Tonelico 2. She’ll be coming from Max Factory at 1/8 scale (19 cm tall) and 7,200 yen. Finally Max Factory brings us the androgynous Bridget, the (in)famous gender bending fighter from the Guilty Gear game franchise. He’ll be out at 1/7 scale (22 cm tall) and 6,800 yen retail. It’s good to finally see some of these figures we’ve been tracking for months finally online, and with preorders just around the corner! (no more)

Figure News: Goodsmile / Comic Gum collaboration presents Ryomou Shimei PVC (pearl black ver.) from Ikkitousen

First scooped by HD last week, an official page is now online for Goodsmile / Comic Gum’s collaboration Ryomou Shimei (pearl black ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen! This is a wide release version of the magazine mail order limited blue version that came out this summer, and which was discussed earlier here. Sculpting duty was handled by French Doll of sculpting circle Cerberus Project, and she’s set for release in January of ’08 at 7,800 yen retail and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall). As remarked in the initial scoop I’d be happier to see her blue version in wide release instead of this black, but the chance to get her in any format is quite welcome. From the limited batch that came out over the summer we’re only waiting on an unlimited release for the Kanu now… With her up officially at Goodsmile preorders for Ryomou should commence shortly around the interweb shops. Figure News: December 2007 Hobby Japan presents Ikkitousen’s Ryomou in unlimited PVC from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

We’ve already covered most of the exciting news from this issue of Hobby Japan thanks to some early leaks (Cattleya in color and various Lineage II and Queen’s Blade items, etc.), but now that the magazine is officially on sale one final item caught my attention: Goodsmile and Comic Gum will be teaming up to bring this previously mail order only Ryomou Shimei PVC to us in full and wide release (though in an alternate color). Sculpted by French Doll of circle Cerberus Project, this black version of the original blue-trimmed kit is slated to go on sale in January of next year at 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) and 7,800 yen retail. Figure News: Goodsmile updates with Pastel Ink, Mabinogi Succubus PVCs (updated)

Goodsmile updated their official page over the noon hour today with listings for the Moetan Pastel Ink PVC figure just mentioned earlier, along with a new listing for their Succubus PVC from Mabinogi. Ink is due out in March of ’08 at 1/8 scale (20.5 cm tall) and 8,800 yen retail, while the Mabinogi Succubus is due out in February at 1/8 scale (18.5 cm tall) and 5,800 yen retail. The Succubus is looking rather alluring, but I think Ink-chan’s price will be a turn off for many… with the pair listed at Goodsmile preorders should be following very shortly. Update: According to Goodsmile’s official blog their Mabinogi Succubus comes complete with a damage version of her dress. Pictures below:

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Moetan Pastel Ink PVC release details pre-scooped, Dark Elf preorder delayed

The official Goodsmile blog presents details today regarding the release of their POP-designed Pastel Ink figure from Moetan. She’s 1/8 scale, will retail complete with diorama background at 8,800 yen, and Akiba Blog will start the full court promo blitz tomorrow with an exclusive scoop (presumably accompanied by preorder availability). In other news from Goodsmile this morning, the official web shop preorder of their Dark Elf Female Mage reissue was supposed to have begun yesterday, but has been delayed until further notice. Those thinking of picking her up may want to contact their proxy services now, as it’s looking unlikely that she’ll be up for general release… we’ll be keeping an eye on this. (no more)

Figure Errata: a reckoning of recent Ikkitousen offerings from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

Originally written as a reply to this post, what follows is an attempt to sort out the mess that was the past year in Ikkitousen figure releases (from Goodsmile and Comic Gum alone). Hopefully those tracking Ikkitousen releases will find the following list useful (and will correct me if there are any inaccuracies):

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Nendoroid Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu up for preorder

Goodsmile put a listing up for their Tsuruya-san Nendoroid this morning just in time for Amiami’s noon update, where she’s now available for preorder. She’s scheduled for release in February of next year at 3,000 yen retail, the typical 10 cm tall with a variety of exchangeable parts including her maid outfit, school uniform, a tray, and a pair of arms extended zombie-style. I’m not sure whether the Haruhi boom is still strong enough to carry her to rapid extinction, but if you’re intersted I’d advise keeping an eye out and placing your preorder in early days. (no more)

Figure Review: Goodsmile’s Shuraki vol. 1 – Mishiro Akatsuki

The cause of preorder frenzy and subsequent despair for those unable to hit the refresh button in the five seconds they were available, the first entry in the much-hyped Shuraki line finally hit store shelves (albeit very briefly) last week. I was able to snag a copy, and I have to say the franchise’s first multimedia figure offering is a very nice item indeed. She’s not without a couple of flaws however, which we’ll address in the review below:

Figure News: Shuraki vol. 1, Nendoroid Yuki N., Nendoroid Yasagure Rin get reissued, Max Factory announces Kanon’s Sawatari Makoto

Big news today from Goodsmile! Word is in that Shuraki vol. 1 Akatsuki Mishiro, Nendoroid Nagato Yuki, and Nendoroid Yasagure Rin will all see reissues in early 2008. In addition, Goodsmile has a listing up for Max Factory‘s Sawatari Makoto PVC figure from Kanon. She’s set to retail in February of next year at 1/8 scale (17.5 cm tall) and 5,800 yen, with a sculpt from Max’s own Koshinuma Masashi. Great news for the Kanon fans, and for those who missed Mishiro and Yuki (HD review) in the first round of preorders! (no more)

Figure Review: Goodsmile’s Iroha PVC from Samurai Spirits

Iroha is a fighting game character whose creation in 2005 corresponds almost exactly with the crest in the wave of the PVC production boom, and she has come to embody it with over a dozen kits released in the past two years. Few of them match the majesty of Nakayama Eiji’s winter ’06 foray into Irohadom, however, and when it was revealed last summer that this particular garage kit would be reborn in PVC I was overjoyed. With production under the auspices of Goodsmile I was sure they’d deliver a faithful rendition of his incredibly curvaceous sculpt, and I wasn’t disappointed.
