The hour is finally upon us! Four years since the release of Fate/stay night and three since hollow ataraxia, what is arguably the most potent force in visual novels of this decade has finally announced their next PC game title: Mahou Tsukai no Yoru (魔法使いの夜). Translating literally as “night of the magic user” and given the official English subtitle of Witch on the Holy Night, full details on the game will be presented in a 25-page exclusive spread in the June 2008 edition of Tech Gian magazine, on sale April 21st. The tag line on the official site reads “two witches live in the mansion on the hill” (坂の上の屋敷には、二人の魔女が住んでいる / saka no ue no yashiki ni wa, futari no majo ga sundeiru). I’ll be picking up Tech Gian as usual on the 21st, but I expect Type-Moon fans far more competent and devoted than myself will carry the story forward from here. I was wavering on a preorder of Manyuu Chibusa for a few months after she was announced. I’d seen her recently at the Cerberus Project booth at Wonder Festival and WHF, and while I liked the design it was obvious she wasn’t castoffable, and seemed bereft of other worthwhile gimmicks. In the end I caved in, convinced that a character whose name literally means “magical breast” would be worth having – and boy, am I glad I fell prey to this pair. Coming after last week’s release bonanza the first week of April was fairly light, with only three original releases and a handful of reissues newly arriving to store shelves today. The three new titles include Maika’s most recent full price offering, and new budget games from Eroro and Flap – the last of which, Bojou Ninjutsu Kunoichi PonPon!!, is my personal pick of the week. Symmetrically docking ninja girls for the win… :3 Questions are welcome as usual, and any comments on the presentation are appreciated.
Orchid Seed updated their official site today with word that their Kanu Unchou (summer vacation ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen is now available for preorder. While Orchid’s official statistics are often somewhat at odds with the facts, she’s officially described as 1/6 scale (17 cm tall) with a sculpt from Ishiyama Satoshi, and is scheduled for release in July at 7,400 yen with a variety of option parts newly revealed in her updated description page: the standard bikini from the original illustration upon which she’s based, a “hot pants” clothing set, and a “race queen” clothing set. With her available for order from Orchid’s official site other preorder listings should follow shortly. Images below:
