A quick note that INO Art Works: Velvet Skin went on sale on the 17th as planned, and is in stock and shipping now from wherever fine artbooks are sold (HD has an Amazon affiliate but that’s neither here nor there). I won’t be receiving my copy until the 30th, though I plan to get a review up as soon as possible once it does come in; in the mean time our creator spotlight on the artist is here. An official Core Magazine preview of the book is now online as well, thanks to H-Gurl for spotting it! (no more)
Too bad amazon’s shipping cost is through the roof (3000 Y to ship 1 book!).
Are there any other places that have decent shipping costs?
I don’t know about shipping for any of these, but they’re alternatives at least… anyone know of others?
Mangaoh only seems to ship by EMS
Nippon Export ships only by EMS or SAL
Book1 seems to have an entire gamut of shipping options, even airmail so I decided to give them a shot. Although the shipping cost is listed as TBA when you place the order – lets hope it’s something reasonable
I can’t wait for your review. I’m probably going to buy it anyway, but it’ll be nice to hear your opinion first.
does playasia have these?
>>HammerOC
It’s going to be top priority on the weekend of the 30th. :D

I didn’t know Play-Asia carried artbooks, but apparently they do. It doesn’t seem they have Velvet Skin in stock yet, sadly.
I can’t believe the price PA is charging for the Ikki Tousen treasure box….$235.90

Yeah, that blew me away. I can’t help but think it’s a typo; the competition has it available for so much less it’s not even funny.
I’ve been a fan of INO for three years now. I like his tame works really, but anything is fine as long as you get an artbook from him! ^^
The book came in to the office today and I had the chance to look through it – absolutely stunning. It’s a real tome, quite thick and amazingly comprehensive; short of buying every game the man has ever illustrated this is the best way to experience his art, I’d say. It has a ton of stuff I’d never seen as well, lots of limited edition telephone card artwork.
The only minor disappointment was lack of a fold-out poster of any kind, but the thorough, solid content of the book more than makes up for it. Can’t wait to get my own copy and do a real review…
Y: Amazon’s shipping costs are insane but you get the stuff in fast. I ordered the first Hidero Horibe book about a year ago on a Friday… I had it in my hands (in NJ USA) on Monday.
Does anyone think J-List will be stocking it? I recently ordered the Sano Toshihide and Happoubi Jin artbooks from them. That said, does Amazon JP ship international?
>>unangbankay
I work in the J-List offices, so my comment above about getting it into the office might imply something. Maybe. <_<;; They should have it listed on the site hopefully by this Friday, or sometime next week at the latest.
Book 1 shipping is very reasonable, so don’t worry about that :)
The last art book (Zealotic Blade Zero) I ordered from them cost 780yen shipping to the USA via SAL.
