Figure News: Okama-designed Evangelion Asuka and Rei (witch ver.) prize figures coming from Sega

News in from figure shop Waku-Waku Wonder today that a pair of Okama-designed Evangelion Asuka and Rei (witch ver.) prize figures will be coming from Sega in February of next year at 2,480 yen for the pair. While all we have to go on at this point is the Okama illustration and word that they’ll be 16 cm tall, they’ll probably resemble his earlier Eva / Sega prize figure work in production quality; we also know that the sculpt will be handled by OSIRIS of production unit Heavy Gauge, who has quite a distinguished recent repertoire to his name. Preorders should be showing up elsewhere soon! (no more)

Goods News: POP art collection #2 SUPER LOLLIPOP on sale tomorrow

Fans of all things Moetan and generally cute take note: POP, master of the hyper-saccharin, almost unbearably adorable illustrations that have come to define their own special brand of “moe”, is at it again. Blegh, I feel like I’m writing ad copy… Anyway, he’s got a new artbook out which you can buy at Amazon if you’d like to support HD, or at Mangaoh, and probably elsewhere as well. It’s 152 pages, hard cover, contains a compilation of his color illustration work from between 2005 and 2007, and retails for 2,940 yen. A kyonyuu fan can like cute things too, right? (no more)

Figure News: Happinet lists a Morita Yukari PVC from Rocket Girls; Hime, Flandre, Kamura Reiri and Liza Wildman PVCs from Kaibutsu Oujo

Happinet Robin has updated its Chrono Gate PVC figure line with three new entries today: Morita Yukari from Rocket Girls, Hime with Flandre from Kaibutsu Oujo, and Kamura Reiri with Liza Wildman, also from Kaibutsu Oujo. Morita Yukari clocks in at 1/8 scale (17 cm tall) and is scheduled to go on sale in January ’08 at an undisclosed price; Hime with Flandre is non-scale (18 cm tall) and Kamura Reiri with Liza Wildman is non-scale (20 cm tall), both with prices undisclosed and scheduled for a “winter 2008” release. Nothing here that looks very interesting to those not already fans of the respective shows, though Morita Yukari’s space suit is favorably reminiscent of Plug-chan(no more)

Protoculture News: arrested doujin author fined, status quo continues

Icarus and Canned Dogs are reporting today that Yasamata Shiyami, the doujin author previously reported to have been arrested for obscenity and/or the improper labeling of his books for adult content (the case covered in detail here), has been ordered to pay a fine of 300,000 yen as punishment for his offense. As Zepy and Simon have noted this doesn’t amount to more than a slap on the wrist, and without further information as to the grounds for his arrest or any further action to be taken as a result (against the printing company or bookshops that distributed his work, for example), it seems little has come of the case beyond a bunch of nervous doujinka and tightened self-regulation at doujin events. I’m happy to hear that the author himself got off so lightly, but left wonder what the next step will be in the saga of Japan’s imperiled free speech. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: GA Graphic scoops Atelier-Sai’s new release lineup, confirms Silfietta castoff

GA Graphic got the scoop today on several new items in Atelier-Sai‘s PVC lineup, including Lapis from Kaze no Stigma, a set of action figures from Mahou Senshi Sweet Knights 2, Hinomoto Hikari (winter clothes ver.) from Tokimeki Memorial 2, Kawasumi Mai from Kanon, and last but not least Silfietta from Meishoku no Reiki (scooped here last week). The Silfietta figure still stands out at the head of the pack, especially due to the confirmation of her castoffability; despite the high price I’m thinking she’s a pretty strong contender for purchase at this point. We’ll keep you appraised of preorder availability as it’s announced. All of the figures posted at GA today are scheduled for December release dates except for the Sweet Knights action figures, which are listed for “this fall”. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Vispo sculpted, Sano Toshihide designed Shiratori Amane coming in PVC

The ultimate creator’s combo comes to PVC!! Word is in today from sculpting circle Vispo that Shiratori Amane, main heroine of G.J?‘s recently released Anata no Shiranai Kangofu, will be seeing a PVC incarnation at some point in the indefinite future. We don’t know the maker yet (Vispo’s figures have seen PVC incarnation from Sega, Toranoana, Toy’sworks, and Daiki Kougyou to this point) or any other release details, but this single prototype shot alone is enough to send me into waves of rapture (too much information, sorry)… we’ll be constantly refreshing Vispo’s page over the coming weeks and relay any further information as it comes to light. As a side note, this is the same character recently incarnated in Toranoana’s Purichichi vol. 1 “contoured” hug pillow. :3 (no more)

Figure News: Wave presents Tsuruya-san x Kyon’s sister, Suzu, Bushido Girl, and white swimsuit Komaki Manaka PVCs

Wave updated today with official pages for a sizable chunk of their coming lineup, including the much anticipated Tsuruya-san x Kyon’s sister PVC figure combo from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Suzu from Nagasarete Airantou, Bushido Girl from Sekaiju no Meikyuu, and a limited edition Komaki Manaka (white swimsuit ver.) from To Heart 2. The former three are due out in January of ’08, with Manaka scheduled for release in November of this year. The Tsuruya x Kyon’s sister and Bushido Girl figures are looking particularly nice… Preorders should be up at the usual suspects soon for all of these except the Manaka, which is Chara-Ani only. Figure News: Alter’s Louise (bustier ver.) PVC from Zero no Tsukaima up for preorder

Alter put a page up on their official site today for their upcoming Louise (bustier ver.) PVC figure from Zero no Tsukaima, and Moe Soul followed up almost immediately with a preorder listing. She’s sculpted by Otsuyama Houjun, 1/8 scale (19 cm tall), and due out in January of next year at 5,040 yen retail (tax included). Other sites should have her up for preorder soon~. (no more)

Goods News: Moetan Nijihara Ink hug pillow up for preorder

The listing has been up for a few days now, but I was just reminded of it this morning by the Dakimakura Integrated Research Institute: character goods shop Chara-Ani has posted a preorder listing for a Nijihara Ink hug pillow based on the heroine of the Moetan English phrasebooks and anime. The pillow features an original illustration by POP, is double-sided with dimensions 140 x 50 cm, and retails at 10,500 yen (pillowcase only); the Chara-Ani preorder is open through September 17th. It was originally produced by Cosmode as part of their Comiket 72 goods set, and as such it seems unlikely to be made available at any shops selling internationally; a proxy service will probably be your best bet if you’re looking to purchase. [ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Story Image Figure EX Ryofu Housen PVC from Ikkitousen

I missed the release of this Ryofu figure in the transitory period between jobs and moving house last winter, and it was much to my chagrin that I discovered her after she’d seemingly vanished from store shelves. A few months ago Amiami must have dug up a couple of copies from a musty corner of their warehouse because she was listed for a short time once again, and I eagerly availed myself of the opportunity to procure her. Word is in from Yamato that she’ll be reissued in October, so if you missed her in the first round she’ll be widely available again soon! While not produced to the absolute best spec possible, this is one of those figures with a certain special something
