WHF Ariake 18: PVC maker galleries

Wrapping up the meat of our pictorial coverage of WHF Ariake 18, we take a look at the coming PVC and resin releases of professional makers present at the event. Includes uncensored looks at Yamato’s Animal Girl Bonnie and Daiki Kougyou’s Sugimoto Anna, a gallery of Musashiya’s castoff Ikkitousen cold casts, and Kurushima’s “swimsuit” Kanu resin, among others:

Yamato lists VMF Ryomou Shimei action figure

Figure maker Yamato updated their official site yesterday evening with a listing for their upcoming Ryomou Shimei action figure from Ikkitousen. Part of their new VMF (“Variable Motion Figure”) series, she stands 23 cm tall at 1/7 scale, with 19 points of articulation, two pairs of exchangeable wrist/hand parts and a removable skirt. She’s scheduled to retail in August at 8,190 yen (tax included). The sculptor is not currently credited in Yamato’s listing. With her up at their official site preorders should begin shortly! WHF Ariake 18: Industry News

In the interests of me getting some sleep tonight I’m going to confine this post to actual news, and leave images of already announced figures for a subsequent update. There wasn’t a huge amount of industry movement at the event, but the tidbits that came out are noteworthy nonetheless:

Yamato announces Creators’ Labo Ignis

Figure maker Yamato updated their event page today with a listing for their appearance at World Hobby Festival Ariake 18 Final on May 5th. All of the display items listed there are things we’ve seen before, except for one intriguing addition to the Creators’ Labo lineup – a figure described simply as “Jingai Makyou Ignis”. I thought Orchid Seed’s Ignis the White brought an end to the storied dynasty of Ignis figures last fall, but it seems she’ll be back for at least one final PVC encore. This raises the question of which Ignis kit the listing is referring to; my money is on Cerberus Project (G.O)’s version, given that a) Yamato has featured Cerberus in the Creators’ Labo series in the past, and b) I’m not aware of any other non-PVCified Ignis kits of any quality still at large. We’ll be keeping a close eye out for further news on this kit, and will be sure to document the display prototype fully at the event. (no more)

Figure Review: Yamashita Shunya’s Ayanami Rei

The combination of a Yoshizawa Mitsumasa sculpt and a Yamashita Shunya design is enough to evoke a Pavlovian drooling response in many figure collectors, myself among them. Formerly available exclusively in limited resin kit form, the announcement from Yamato at last summer’s Wonder Festival that the Yamashita / Yoshizawa team’s coproduced Ayanami Rei would be coming in PVC was incredibly welcome news. Following shortly on the heels of other significant Yamato releases last December Rei was lost in the shuffle here at HD, but we’re happy to finally be able to bring you a review of this great figure!

Yamato’s Noyamano Ringo preorder open

Amiami’s noon update today brought the news that one of the most anticipated figures of the past several months (by me, at least), is now available for preorder: Yamato’s Noyamano Ringo (hentai kamen ver.) from Air Gear. I’ve had my eye on her since we first broke the news of her prototype back at WHF Ariake 17, so it’s great to see her finally available in PVC form, with stats as follows: she’s set for release in July at 7,140 yen retail, 23 cm tall (scale unspecified) with a sculpt from Uchijima Yasuhiro (essence.). She comes with an optional handbag used to cover her face (though I’m not sure why you’d want to, given the quality of the sculpt); image gallery below:

Yamato’s Bonnie, Nasubi-sama preorders open

Amiami posted preorder listings over the noon hour today for two new offerings from Yamato that we’ve had our eye on for the past couple of months: Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Bonnie, a Yamazaki Kouichi (Tandem Twin) original, and Nasubi-sama, based on the “eggplant girl” illustration from the Okama-illustrated Food Girls artbook and sculpted by Shunji Hagii of Studio Saru Bunshitsu. Bonnie is set to retail in July at 8,190 yen, 18 cm tall (scale unspecified) with optional face part, chest part, glasses, eye mask, and base included, while Nasubi-sama is also coming in July at 8,180 yen, 1/6 scale (26 cm tall), with castoffable skirt and chest covering. Image galleries below:

Bonnie scooped by Tandem Twin

We got our first look at the painted resin version of Yamato’s Tandem Twin Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Bonnie back at Wonder Festival, and today sculptor Yamazaki Kouichi updated his site with a much more thorough preview of the figure. While still presented as the resin prototype we’re now able to see the various goodies that will come with the PVC version, including a replaceable chest part, optional glasses, blindfold, and alternate face part. Looks like another great offering in Yamato’s animal girl series, and we’ll be watching for a preorder announcement soon, along with announcement of the promised alternate color “Brenda” version. Figure News: Yamato announces alternate color Arisa, Bubblegum Crisis Moto Slave + Priss

Figure maker Yamato updated their official site today with listing for two new figures: first, an alternate color version of their Creator’s Labo #014 guitar girl Arisa (HD review of the original). This version is due out in May, at 7,140 yen and specs similar to the original. The second new item up is is a Priss / Moto Slave action figure set from Bubblegum Crisis. The set is 1/15 scale, with the bike 14 cm long (15 cm tall in Motoroid form) and the Priss figure 11 cm tall. Both are fully articulated and come with option parts (check out the “photozoomer” images for details on the various configurations), and the set retails in May at 7,140 yen. (no more)

Figure News: Yamato presents Amaori Tatsuki’s Pretty Cat’s Show Time Lesson B PVC from Millimeter Modeling

Yamato updated their official site today with a page for their Story Image Figure EX Pretty Cat’s Show Time Lesson B PVC, based on the Kuramoto Ikuma (Millimeter Modeling) garage kit by the same name, which in turn was based on an illustration in the 2003-released [ERO] Amaori Tatsuki Pretty Cat’s Show Time artbook. Yamato’s version is set for release in April of this year at 7,140 yen retail and 1/6 scale (13.5 cm tall). Original source image below:

Figure News: Griffon’s gothic lolita Haruhi, Yamato’s Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Anne-Rose unveiled

Two pieces of news on the PVC front this evening: first is word from Griffon that their gothic lolita Haruhi kit from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is scheduled for release in PVC. She’s 1/7 scale with a retail price of 7,500 yen, and currently without a release date specified; currently only Griffon has her available for preorder on their site but presumably other retailers will carry her as well. Sculpt from Yamamoto Masahiro. Next, word is in from Yamato that the alternate color version of Aruma we’ve seen lurking around for a month or so is dubbed Anne-Rose, and will see release in April of next year at 7.140 yen and 30 cm tall (1/6 scale?). Sculpt is from Tandem Twin, and preorders are expected shortly. (no more)

[ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku #001 Kanu Unchou from Ikkitousen

A figure we’ve been anticipating here at HD for almost a year, Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou has finally arrived. Pairing the peerless sculpting skill of Cobra-Kai’s Toushirou with Shiozaki Yuuji’s erotic designs from an evocative scene of the Ikkitousen manga, will the first installment in Yamato’s new and ambitious Dynamite lineup provide production quality to match the design talent assembled? Read on for the thunderous conclusion to what feels at this point like an epic quest through time and space…

[ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project (Sunny Day) sculpted, Creators’ Labo CL#014 Guitar Girl Arisa PVC

Cerberus Project’s guitar girl Arisa is a kit I’d been lusting after since I first saw her in resin at Wonder Festival Winter 2006, so when news came last July that Yamato was going to produce a PVC rendition of her the extent of my chortling glee can scarcely be underestimated. I’ve been in high tension mode ever since, wondering just how Yamato would treat her – fears that I am very happy to say were largely needless. Read on for a look at what turns out to be one of the loveliest kits of the year.

Figure News: Haruhi, Fortune Arterial, Keroro coming from Wave, Dynamite Kanu PVC sample up at Moeyo

Wave updated today with a few new items on their release lineup for next spring: Treasure Figure Collection Suzumiya Haruhi is coming out in May at 4,935 yen and 1/10 scale (16 cm tall), DreamTech Sendou Erika from the new August game Fortune Arterial will be out in late April at 5,775 yen, 1/8 scale with a sculpt from zenko, and Dark Keroro x Nasuka will be out in conjunction with the new Keroro Gunsou movie on in late January, but it may only be available in theaters in Japan (4,800 yen, non-scale, 15 cm tall). In other news Moeyo has a sample PVC review of Yamato’s [ERO] Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou online, and she’s looking a good sight better than in Akiba Hobby’s review from a couple of weeks ago. She’s still on track for a December release, thank goodness… can’t wait to see her in person. :3 J-List still has her available for preorder if you’ve been on the fence. (no more)

Figure News: Yamato’s Guitar Girl Arisa and high kick Hakufu, Movic’s Matsu now on sale

According to their product listings, Yamato‘s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project sculpted [ERO] Guitar Girl Arisa and their [ERO] Story Image Figure Sonsaku Hakufu (high kick ver.) are both in stock and shipping now! Buying via these links is a great chance to pick them up if you haven’t snagged them via preorder yet, and you can support HD in the process. Akibajin blog is reporting today as well that Movic‘s Sekirei Matsu figure is now on store shelves (and just arrived here, in fact – expect a review later tonight or tomorrow morning). More whoredom / news below:

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou PVC sample unveiled; all banged up?

Akiba Hobby represented last night with a review of a post-production PVC sample of Yamato‘s Cobra-Kai sculpted Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou figure from Ikkitousen. Overall production quality is looking great, but one possible cause for concern is what seems to be the thicket of bangs now covering her face. They were there in moderate profusion before, but now it looks like she’s staring out from the mouth of a blue-fanged Tyrannosaurus Rex with very bad orthodontics. Comparison shots below:

[ERO] Figure News: Amiami provides uncensored shots of Yamato’s Tandem Twin Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Aruma PVC

We scooped her castoffability yesterday, and Amiami was kind enough to update this evening with some new gallery images that don’t shirk away from showing us what hides beneath her armored breastplate. I just hope they can deliver something approaching this quality in the production version of the kit… Amiami’s gallery images reproduced below:

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato’s Tandem Twin-sculpted Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Aruma PVC castoff exposed

Akiba Hobby reports this evening that a figure we’ve been keeping an eye on for awhile now, Yamato’s Tandem Twin sculpted Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Aruma, is in fact castoffable. This is a sensible move on Yamato’s part given the slow sales of some of the other items in their Doubutsu Nee-chan series, and given the recent announcement of exchangeable chest part Momo wasn’t an entirely unexpected development. She’s currently available for preorder, and I expect this revelation will bump her up on the priority list for many (myself included). In other Tandem Twin news, he’s currently working on a catgirl resin kit that should be released by year’s end (my money is on WHF Ariake 17 in December). (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato updates with guitar girl Arisa details

Figure maker Yamato put up a page on their official site today detailing the goodies that come in the box with their Creator’s Labo #014 Arisa PVC figure. Designed by the intrepid Yamashita Shunya and sculpted by Sunny Day of circle Cerberus Project, Yamato’s post gives a better look at the kit’s option parts including her blouse, garters, skirt, glasses, and guitar. It seems like they’re really putting a lot of effort into this one, and I can’t wait to see her in the flesh plastic… it seems I’m not the only one thinking this, as she’s sold out in preorder at Play Asia already (though still available at J-List). Release is expected later this month. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Doubutsu Nee-chan Momo coming from Yamato, exchangeable chest part included

Word is in from Yamato today that they’ll be releasing a third color version of their Tandem Twin sculpted “leopard” series, Doubutsu Nee-chan Momo. Unlike the two previous versions of the kit, Yamato is including the exchangeable chest part that was an optional mail-order purchase for the other two; this has resulted in a correspondingly higher price, though, and I’m finding it doubtful that this move will do much to change the status of what was already a shelf-warmer of a kit. She’s scheduled for release in January of ’08, at 1/6 scale and 9,240 yen retail. (no more)

Figure News: Yamato’s Tandem Twin original Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Aruma PVC up for preorder

With an official site online last week it was only a matter of time before she went up for preorder, and now here she is: Yamato’s Tandem Twin sculpted Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Aruma PVC figure is now available at Amiami, Hobby Stock, and presumably other retailers known for their mad updating skills. We can expect to see her at international vendors soon. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato’s Cerberus Project sculpted, Yamashita Shunya designed guitar girl Arisa PVC confirmed as castoffable

Moeyo! Akibajin Blog has a sample review up today of the Creator’s Labo CL #014 Arisa PVC figure from Yamato that we’ve been following since the end of July, and it brings good tidings: her top has been crafted as a clean castoff. Leave it to Moeyo to be a tease with the censored shots as usual, but this confirmation hopefully means they’ll be paying attention to the appropriate details beneath her shirt. In other Arisa news, Yamato has a page up on their official site detailing her production with some nice Yamashita-illustrated details and close up shots of the kit. This release just keeps looking better and better… :3 You can support HD by preordering her at Play Asia or J-List. (no more)
