Volks’ Masou Shizuka, Nanbu Kaguya prototypes unveiled

Those following the saga of the Alice Soft x Volks figure collaboration project over the past several months were rewarded late last night with the posting over at GA Graphic of the first official look at the prototype for the fan-selected #1 popular Rance series character, Masou Shizuka. Preorders for the PVC figure are expected to open on Monday, August 25th, exclusive to Volks’ online shop and brick and mortar locations, so a proxy buy will be necessary for international fans. Release is scheduled for “this winter”, and she retails at 7,140 yen and 1/6 scale (23 cm tall) with a sculpt from Kamio Rintarou (A-Brand).

Also new from Volks is word that the amply-chested Nanbu Kaguya, heroine of Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga, is to receive the figure treatment. She’s also scheduled for a winter release, at 7,875 yen and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall), with a sculpt from Chorosuke (A-Brand). Release is once again exclusive to Volks online and terrestrial shops, with preorders opening on August 25th. This combined with her abundant appearance at Comiket 74 mark a meteoric rise to popularity for a character who hit the market just last May, and we can expect to see more from her in the coming months.

Volks announces Kagamine Rin, Len

Updates at the official Piapro and Volks blogs confirm the news that Vocaloid virtual idol series singing siblings Kagamine Rin and Len are scheduled for figure production. Details are not yet available, but it seems logical to assume that they’ll be made available in PVC on the same terms as Volks’s Miku (Volks shop limited release). We’ll keep an eye out for price, sculptor, and further release information. In other news from Volks, their PVC Choukou Sennin Haruka and Narika will be up for preorder on May 25th and June 25th respectively, with release scheduled for July and August. These are also both Volks shop limited so proxy buying may be necessary (damn you Volks!). (no more)

Volks Miku preorder reopens, PA lists Goodsmile’s

It seems Volks seriously underestimated the popularity of their PVC Miku, as she sold out within 24 hours of her first preorder listing. In response they have once again opened preorders for a second round of the figure, which is available right now and scheduled to ship in October – though once again preorders are limited to a preset allotment so extreme haste is advised if you’re considering a proxy order. In other Miku figure news, Goodsmile’s 1/8 scale Hatsune Miku PVC is sold out in first lot at many online shops as well, but if you’d like the chance to get her as fast as possible and don’t mind paying a bit of a premium, first lot (September release) preorders just opened at Play-Asia. If you’d rather wait until October, cheaper options are still available. (no more)

Volks Hatsune Miku preorder open (closed)

Update for those who don’t read the Mainichi posts (read them! please?): Volks Miku preorders sold out of the first round within a day. Preorders for a second round will open on May 3rd.

As scooped in our earlier coverage of the figure, preorders opened today at the Volks official online shop for their store limited Vocaloid2 Hatsune Miku PVC. Recapping our earlier coverage, the figure is 1/6 scale, with a sculpt from A-BRAND‘s Miruhi Shutoraase (Milchstraße, ミルヒ・シュトラーセ) and a retail price of 7,140 yen. She comes with a second exchangeable arm option, and is scheduled for release in early September. The figure is available exclusively through Volks’ online shop and brick and mortar outlets, and preorders will be closed when the production quota has been reached, so if you’re thinking of purchasing via proxy the earlier the better. Volks to produce Hatsune Miku in PVC

Figure maker Volks updated today with the news that the Hatsune Miku resin kit they presented at Wonder Festival (scoop) is scheduled for reproduction in PVC. According to the kit’s official page preorders will open April 29th for the figure, which is 1/6 scale, with a sculpt from A-BRAND‘s Miruhi Shutoraase (Milchstraße, ミルヒ・シュトラーセ) and a retail price of 7,140 yen. She comes with a second exchangeable arm option, and is scheduled for release in early September.

It’s currently unknown whether she’ll be put up for broad release or limited to order at Volks only, but unbroken precedent indicates that despite their recent forays into the PVC world the brand remains committed to a sickly type of repugnant monopolistic isolationism.

Volks x Alice Soft figure project update

A couple of news items from the Volks x Alice Soft figure collaboration project to report today: first is word that the votes from the Rance figure selection poll have finally been tallied! And the winner is… drumrolldrumrolldrumrollMasou Shizuka, from Rance VI! Receiving 5231 of the 43,747 votes cast, she narrowly beat out Rance Nazo no Shoujo to be selected as the first PVC figure in Volks’s upcoming Rance series. We’ll keep an eye out for a prototype to appear within the next few months.

In other, considerably gloomier news, HD reader Baldulf came across this scan yesterday that provides additional information on the release of Volks’s Choukou Sennin Haruka (Beat Blades Haruka) PVCs. Both Haruka and Narika are due out at 1/7 scale and 6,500 yen retail, with sculpts from Chorosuke; Haruka is set for release in June, with Narika coming in July. The unfortunate conclusion to this is that both figures will be available exclusively through Volks’s retail stores, mail order and online shop – meaning it’s proxy time for anyone outside Japan with their eye on these figures. We can bet the same will be true for the Rance project as well… Damn it Volks, when will you wake up to the reality of the international marketplace? (no more)

Age Ultimate Characters 02 preorder open

Shining a spotlight on some more recent figure news, Volks has opened preorders at their official web shop for the Moekore (M.O.E. Collection) Age Ultimate Characters 02 trading figure set from Muv Luv. The set contains six characters from Muv Luv Alternative and Muv Luv Total Eclipse, including Suzumiya Haruka, Hayase Mitsuki, Suzumiya Akane, Kashiwagi Haruko, Kriska Barchenowa, and Inia Jestina. The set is available exclusively from Volks’ online shop and brick and mortar retail store locations, and is only available in box form (7,040 yen for a box of eight; Haruka and Mitsuki are doubles). The sculpt is from Takami Toshiaki (Zoukei-Mura), and figure size dimensions are undisclosed. The set is scheduled to retail in late April or early May.

In breaking news, samples of the set went on display at Volks locations in Akihabara, Nagoya, and Osaka today, and the official Volks blog took the scoop with detailed shots of each figure. Official product image below:

Volks’ Rance figure polling ends, winner uncertain

The collaboration of figure maker Volks with eroge soft house Alice Soft ended the first ever vote on a Rance character to be produced in PVC last night at midnight. As of yesterday afternoon “Nazo no Shoujo” from Sengoku Rance was up by the slimmest of margins over Masou Shizuka from Rance VI (11.4% to 11.3%); Noire from Sengoku Rance trailed in third place at around seven percent of the vote. The results are no longer available, having been replaced by a notice reading “results of the voting will be announced after a careful examination of the tallied votes to remove those cast via fraudulent means. Please wait awhile”, so who will emerge the victor is anyone’s guess at this point. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing any of the top three take the prize; my preferred choice Suzume was sadly ranked 10th and seems unlikely to emerge the victor with such strong contenders ahead of her. We’ll keep an eye out for the final results and any further information on the competition. (no more)
