Toranoana launches new figure brand TC2F, features Taka Tony

The official site of otaku goods retailer and producer Toranoana was updated this evening to announce the creation of a new figure brand dubbed TC2F (“Toranoana & Creators Collaboration Figure”). The first item in the brand’s lineup will be a collaboration with T2 ART WORKS (Taka Tony): the “bikini maid girl” figure we first reported on at the beginning of this month. The official TC2F page reports that the figure is a collaboration between Tony and sculptor Maeda Tomoki of Works Sapporo, is 1/8 scale, does not appear castoffable (other than two pairs of glasses as option parts), and is scheduled to retail in late May at the astoundingly low price of 4,515 yen (with telephone card) or 3,990 yen (figure alone).

The bad news is that the TC2F series is apparently “100% Toranoana Store Limited”, meaning a trip to the proxy service is in order for fans outside Japan. At that price I think many may bite the bullet and pay the extra finder’s fee…

Toranoana announces new mechamusume, Tony figure collaboration

A Toranoana company representative posted a column at Akiba Blog today with the news that work is progressing on two new figures from the brand: an “Imperial Japanese Army Mechanized Flying Fox-Eared Infantry Equipment Red Skirt” mechamusume girl designed by Shimada Fumikane, and a “Toranoana & Creators Collaboration Figure Series 01【T2 ART WORKS】” bikini maid girl designed by Taka Tony. The mechamusume is sculpted by Men of circle Garekiya, and Tony’s bikini maid is from Maeda Toshiki of Works Sapporo. Currently no concrete release information is available for either, but we’ll be keeping the radar out for any forthcoming news on both figures. (no more)

[ERO] Goods News: Tony-illustrated C73 dakimakura gets mail order release from Toranoana

In a reprise of past events, Toranoana will once again be carrying the Taka Tony-designed hug pillow that he released at Comiket 73. It features a unique (to my knowlege) four-character design layout, two per side, with all original art from the famous doujin artist and designer of Shining Wind, Shining Tears, and several Ciel games. Preorders for the pillowcase will be open from January 25th through February 11th, with the item scheduled to ship in mid-March; it’s 160 x 45 cm in size and retails at 6,300 yen (case only), a good deal cheaper than many similar items, though those looking to purchase from outside Japan will need to use a proxy. [ERO] Figure News: preorders open at Toranoana for Keumaya’s Violet and Axia

Those interested in procuring the latest work from [ERO] doujin figure circle Keumaya are urged to act quickly with their proxy of choice, as preorders are now open at Toranoana for both Axia (“A” ver.) and Violet (purple ver.). Further information on the figures can be found here and here, and a list of proxy services can be found in the lower left corner of the main HD page. Good luck to anyone going for these, as they’re likely to be quite popular… (no more)

Figure News: Toranoana’s Witchblade transformed Masane, Shiori up for preorder

Amiami snuck a late update in tonight, presenting at long last a pair of Witchblade PVCs from Toranoana that we’ve had our eye on here since August: Masane and Shiori. Both are due out in early February at 1/10 scale and 5,040 yen each; sculpt is from Koyama Kou, who seems to have done some work for Namco in the past and had a kit featured at Wonder Festival but is otherwise under the radar. Based on the sample images I’m a bit skeptical of the quality on these, but the price is certainly reasonable; along with Orchid Seed’s Shiori these may be the last Witchblade kits we ever see, so here’s hoping Tora can do them justice. Mainichi Junk: C73 roundup, anime news, etc.

It’s a general roundup of news from the past few days in another installment of the increasingly inaccurately named Mainichi Junk! We’ve got stuff from all corners of the otakuverse today, starting with a heaping helping of Comic Market 73 (the latest on Momoi’s AX DVD, Keumaya’s new doujin figure project, and hug pillows galore), new moves on the anime scene (trailers for Mnemosyne, Code Geass season 2, and Kite Liberator), eroanime news (featuring a new Pixy title in the “valkyrie vs. orc” genre), a few bits of figure gossip (Orchid’s Erika shipping for reals, Donne Anonime too, and Shuraki mangafication) and a new MOSAIC.WAV eroge movie that is certainly worth your viewing time.

[ERO] Goods Review: Toranoana’s Purichichi “enhanced chest” dakimakura #01 Shiratori Amane

Ever since she was first announced at the tail end of May I’ve been following Toranoana’s maiden voyage into the world of augmented hug pillows with an all-consuming curiosity that is certainly not the mark of a completely sound mind. We tracked her from the introduction of her first color sample through her preorder, to her sale date and shipment, and ultimately to her final destination on my doorstep this evening. Read on for the details of an item that marks a milepost in the development of Japan’s maniac 2D culture!

[ERO] Artbook Review: Toranoana-limited Official Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny Fan Book

Back when we scooped the release of this book two weeks ago it called out to me with the irresistible siren song of glorious 2D bishoujo ecchiness. Ensembles of doujin artists such as this don’t just grow on trees; they need to be coaxed and coerced to join forces by a power no less mighty than… well, the promise of a quick buck from Toranoana, which is no doubt what they received in return for services rendered. If you like Ikkitousen, doujinshi, scantily clad girls, or Ikkitousen doujinshi featuring scantily clad girls, you will certainly want to check this out.

[ERO] Goods News: Toranoana-limited official Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny “fan book” up for preorder

Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny meets the stars of the doujin world in a 36 page, B5 size full color illustration compilation set for limited release from Toranoana, entitled the Ikkitousen DD Official Visual Fan Book. Featuring the likes of Mogudan, Kino Hitoshi, Eiwa, Azasuke, Same, and Maruto, it’s hard to imagine a higher profile collection of artists gathered to deliver their renditions of mangaka Shiozaki Yuuji’s iconic cast of characters. The volume is available for preorder from Toranoana now, with release expected on November 23rd at 1,050 yen. Those interested internationally will have to investigate proxy options as this is a Tora-only limited release. Sample images and further information below:

[ERO] Goods News: Toranoana’s Shinzui doujin compilations up for preorder

We first reported on the production of this set of [ERO] Toranoana limited doujin compilations back in October when they were still just a glimmer in the eye of a hard working Tora staff member and a stack of loose paper. Turn away for a couple of weeks and lo – the box set set is already sold out, and the first printing of the first two books is gone as well. The four books are B5 size, 124 pages each, 1,050 yen a piece and feature an amazing array of famous artists (samples and links available here). Those who got in on the first wave of preorders will be seeing the first two volumes on November 9th and the second two on the 16th; those like myself who just realized the darn thing was available are left to weep bitter tears and accept our shipments at a later date. Those looking to purchase what seems like a legendary set in the making will have to go proxy diving, because Toranoana sucks. (no more)

Goods News: Momoi Haruko “Momo-i! World Tour 2007 in LA” sees DVD release from Toranoana

That’s right, the Momoi Haruko concert from AX 2007 is coming out on DVD! Despite being treated with neglect and disrespect by the convention staff (Canned Dogs coverage) Momoi managed to keep her spirits up and prepare for the concert, presenting herself to the small crowd of fans gathered in the ghastly Monday morning time slot allotted her with a true professionalism and genuine energy that is hard to describe without having been there. It was easily one of the top five concerts of my life, and I’ll definitely be picking this up to relive the experience (despite the hefty 7,560 yen price tag… ;_;). The disc is set for release on January 1st of next year, with initial sales planned at the Toranoana booth at Comiket 73 (December 29th through the 31st). (no more)

[ERO] Goods News: Toranoana plans “Shinzui” doujin compilations; first volume to feature Mogudan

Toranoana representative AYUZAWA penned a column yesterday for Akiba Blog in which he announced the production of four 120-page [ERO] doujin compilation volumes in a series dubbed shinzui (“lifeblood”). The project is in commemoration for the recent opening of the new Toranoana shop in Sendai, and features a wide selection of famous artists (the first volume alone contains Mogudan, Sumeragi Kohaku, Amano Ameno, and Tsukino Jougi among others). While price and release dates are yet forthcoming we are informed that the volumes will only be available for purchase at Toranoana brick-and-mortar locations as well as via their online shop, so international buyers are advised to head to their proxy services. Figure News: Toranoana’s Witchblade Tsuzuki Shiori (transformed ver.) PVC sample up

Moeyo! Akibajin Blog posted photos of a sample version of Toranoana’s Tsuzuki Shiori (transformed ver.) PVC figure from Witchblade, which was on display today in Akihabara’s Toranoana store #1. This may be the same sample as the one on display at Wonder Festival this past summer, and price and release date are still unknown; no real news here other than a nice close-up look at the sculpt. I’m kind of digging it in spite of myself, though I’d like to see a kit of the untransformed Shiori as well. Edit: Moeyo has shots of Tora’s new Masane (transformed ver.) PVC up today too, but same deal – no details as of yet. (no more)
