To Love-Ru animal girl Lala PVC preorder open

The official online shop of publisher Shueisha updated today with a pair of listings (regular and limited) for two color versions of a new Lala Satalin Deviluke (animal cafe ver.) figure from To Love-Ru. Preorders are open until May 31st, and both are scheduled to go on sale August 22nd at 6,500 yen retail, 1/8 scale (17.5 cm tall), with a sculpt from Makio Munetoshi; the leopard-print version is the regular edition (based on her appearance in the manga) while the white version is “limited”, though precisely how limited is unknown. Figure production is from Kotobukiya. Both versions are castoffable both top and bottom, though she’s wearing some (very skimpy) lingerie beneath; preview images below:

Figure News: Movic’s Ayanami Rei, Shueisha’s Akashiya Moka preorders open, Piccolo launches painted resin line

Some noteworthy bits of figure news in this evening, starting with word from Amiami that Movic’s Ayanami Rei PVC (the standard plug suit version we scooped back at the Miyazawa Model Exhibition) is now up for preorder, with release expected in February at 5,250 yen, 1/8 scale, and a sculpt from Hiroshi of Sakurazensen. Moving on: previous looks at Shueisha’s Akashiya Moka PVC from Rosario to Vampire weren’t that inspiring, but now that’s she’s up for preorder she’s looking much nicer. She’s coming to us from the new “Shueisha Solid Selection” brand in late May, at 1/8 scale and 5,000 yen retail. Finally, character goods maker Piccolo made news today with the unveiling of Kaze no Stigma‘s Kannagi Ayano and Samurai 7‘s Kirara in a new line of figures they’re calling “Reijin CAST”. They’re prepainted resins (the name is a pun as reijin 麗人 means “beautiful woman”), and both retail in March at 1/8 scale (8,925 yen for Kirara and 9,975 yen for Ayano). (no more)

Artbook Review: UNO! ~ Uno Makoto Artworks

Former god of futanari doujinshi, current god of anime character design Uno Makoto presents his first compiled volume of illustrations in the newly released UNO! artbook. When the news first came to us at the beginning of November I was overjoyed at the prospect of getting a book that would include not only his past material but also work on the currently airing Dragonaut series; with its pretense to comprehensiveness I was hoping that this would be a volume similar in scope to other artbooks we’ve recently reviewed here, but after looking it over I’m sorry to report decidedly mixed results:

Figure News: January ’08 Hobby Japan preview

Hot on the heels of this morning’s Hatsune Miku Nendoroid leak comes further scoopage from the as-yet unpublished pages of the January ’08 issue of Hobby Japan magazine! On the Queen’s Blade front we get our first look at Megahouse’s Shizuka in color (scooped back at Wanfesu), along with the news that she’s due out next spring at 5,775 yen and is castoffable. We get looks beneath the clothing of both Airi and Nix as well, with Nix revealed as a lower castoff. We have word that an Izuruha figure will accompany a box set release of the four volumes of Ru Li Lu Ra manga (details in the next HJ issue). Word from Goodsmile as well that they’re producing a Kuonji Shinra figure from Kimigashu (no details yet), and a look at the MMS Yoko action figure coming from Konami in December. Last but not least we have Akashiya Moka from Rosario to Vampire coming from Shueisha on May 23rd at 5,000 yen, and what for me is the heart-stopping revelation of the issue: the Orchid Seed Ishiyama Satoshi-sculpted Witchblade Shiori kit scooped at the Miyazawa Model Exhibition is coming out in resin at Hobby Complex 02 this Sunday, November 25th. Holding my breath until the PVC announcement… visual evidence below:
