Anime version Musubi preorder open

Figure maker Movic presented a preorder listing over the weekend for their latest incarnation of Musubi, heroine of manga and anime Sekirei. Bearing more than a passing resemblance to their first Musubi it took me a bit to determine conclusively that this wasn’t a reissue, but it’s definitely a new sculpt credited to Saitou Heel. She’s scheduled for release in October at 1/7 scale (height unspecified) and 6,300 yen retail, and if precedent holds she’s likely to be castoffable. Currently available images below:

Sekirei Musubi, Tsukiumi hug pillow announced

A preorder listing went up at Chara-Ani yesterday for a Musubi and Tsukiumi dakimakura from the anime version of Sekirei. Images of the product weren’t initially available, but today the listing was updated and we now have a look at what’s being offered. The pillow features images of Musubi and Tsukiumi that appear here for the first time, but also on other items as well (oppai mousepads and telephone cards); pillow dimensions are unknown, but appear to be different from standard dakimakura size. Preorders are open until June 14th for the pillowcase, which retails on July 17th at 7,140 yen. Images below:

Yujin does SR Sekirei gashapon set

Yujin updated their official figure blog last night (they have one?) with a post giving a teaser glimpse at two figures in their upcoming SR Sekirei gashapon capsule figure set. My first thought after seeing these was “and I thought Movic’s versions had a few issues”… Tsukiumi in particular seems to be suffering from a wasting disease around the eyes, but given that the entire set will probably be available for around 1,000 yen this might be something worth looking into for Sekirei fans. No word on a release timeframe, though the post hints they may try to have the set out in conjunction with the anime’s debut in July. (no more)

Figure Review: Movic’s Musubi (race queen ver.)

When Movic’s race queen Musubi was first announced at last summer’s Wonder Festival I was pretty excited, coming off the successful release of their first Musubi PVC a few months before. With a strong affection for her character and the obvious castoff potential exhibited by that unpainted prototype, expectations went a bit wild… The following eight months became an exercise in coming down to earth, but I wasn’t prepared for quite the extent of the inept production that awaited. Read on for a look at how a decent kit didn’t quite meet its potential:

PS. Thanks to SbebiWan for pointing out that there was nothing in this excerpt. ^^;;

Sekirei TV anime announced! (updated)

The official Sekirei manga site at Square-Enix’s Young Gangan Magazine brought the announcement last night: as previously rumored, the bishoujo fighting-themed manga from Gokurakuin Sakurako (Ashika Sakura) will become an anime some time this year! It will be directed by Kusakawa Keizou (recent directorial work includes Nanoha StrikerS and Inukami), script from Yoshioka Takawo (Sky Girls, Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny, Zero no Tsukaima), character design from Tomooka Shinpei (Inukami), and animation production from Seven Arcs (the Nanoha series, Inukami, SHAFT’s Negima, Red Garden, Zero no Tsukaima II, Da Capo II, the Yakin Byoutou series). The official anime website will be at Sekirei TV.com when it’s established; we’ll be keeping a close eye out for further news on the series as it develops. Update: The show’s official site is now online, and while it doesn’t offer much information beyond what we already knew we do get a first look at the anime character designs, and the cover of the 6th volume of the manga, due out on March 25th. Anime News: Sekirei rumors pick up speed (updated)

Moon Phase Diary reported last night that the Animate online shop listing for volume six of the Sekirei manga contained the news that the manga will receive an anime adaptation in summer 2008! That line was subsequently removed from the product description, but it seems more and more likely that the earlier information from Moon Phase is correct; we can expect official corroboration to appear in March, most likely in the March 21st edition of Young Gangan magazine or when volume six goes on sale on the 25th. Update: Moon Phase is reporting that Aniplex has registered the domain sekirei-tv.com. We’ll watch for content to appear there in the coming month. (no more)

Figure News: limited edition black uniform version of Alter’s Kanu coming from Hobby Channel, etc.

Some bits of figure news coming over the desk from yesterday evening: first is news that Hobby Japan’s online arm Hobby Channel will be offering a 700-piece limited edition run of a black school uniform variant of Alter’s Kanu Unchou PVC from Ikkitousen. She’s set for release in April at specs similar to her regular edition counterpart (1/8 scale, 21.5 cm tall, 7,140 yen) and preorders open at the Hobby Japan online shop on January 7th. Figure Review: Movic’s Matsu PVC from Sekirei

As an ardent fan of the Sekirei manga and an equal opportunity devotee of the various female members of its cast, back when she was announced I found Movic’s Matsu impossible to ignore. I have a critical weakness for brainy girls with glasses, and despite her uncharacteristically racy attire in this figure Matsu fits the profile perfectly… How does she compare to Tsukiumi and Musubi? Read on for our third Sekirei figure review!

Figure News: Yamato’s Guitar Girl Arisa and high kick Hakufu, Movic’s Matsu now on sale

According to their product listings, Yamato‘s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project sculpted [ERO] Guitar Girl Arisa and their [ERO] Story Image Figure Sonsaku Hakufu (high kick ver.) are both in stock and shipping now! Buying via these links is a great chance to pick them up if you haven’t snagged them via preorder yet, and you can support HD in the process. Akibajin blog is reporting today as well that Movic‘s Sekirei Matsu figure is now on store shelves (and just arrived here, in fact – expect a review later tonight or tomorrow morning). More whoredom / news below:

[ERO] Figure Review: Movic’s Tsukiumi PVC from Sekirei

When it comes to Sekirei I must confess my guilt: like the manga’s hapless protagonist I am unable to choose who among his harem is highest in my affections (though Musubi does have a slight edge on the others); today’s favorite is the token tsundere Tsukiumi, due in no small part to the release of this very nice figure from Movic. I’m not usually a huge fan of the tsundere character type, but I can’t think of anyone I’d rather see cross her arms below her voluminous bosom and gaze at me sternly with just a hint of petulance…

Figure News: Movic’s Sekirei Tsukiumi, Yamashita Shunya Cocona now on sale

Just a quick heads up that Movic’s [ERO] Tsukiumi PVC figure from Sekirei [Play Asia] and their original Yamashita Shunya designed Cocona figure [Play Asia] [J-List] both shipped to retailers yesterday. Mine should be coming in tonight and I’ll be reviewing them here in the next day or two (still working on Clalaclan and Fasalina), but those waffling on the purchase might want to act fast, as I’m guessing Tsukiumi especially will be gone from shelves with alarming speed. You can help HD out by ordering from the links above should you so desire~. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Movic’s Sekirei Tsukiumi sample up at Toranoana, castoff 99.9% confirmed; Musubi (race queen ver.) castoff scooped

Akiba Hobby posted yesterday evening with a review of a PVC sample of Movic’s Sekirei Tsukiumi figure (the same one we’ve been reporting on for a couple of months now). Whether by accident or by design, the bust part of Tora’s sample was left slightly askew in what stands as the clearest evidence yet of her castoff possibility without actually being [ERO]. Those on the preorder fence over this are advised to take action now… In other Sekirei news, Akibajin Blog recently and very definitively confirmed the castoffability of Movic’s upcoming Musubi (race queen ver.) that we scooped at Wonder Festival. Aside from her official Movic preorder page she’s not available anywhere else yet, but we’ll keep you posted. 9/14 Edit: It’s official: Akibajin presents confirmation of the Tsukiumi castoff, both above and below. Matsu is up as well, and she’s looking great! (no more)

Wonder Festival 2007 Summer: ero~i PVC news roundup

We wrap up our coverage of Wonder Festival 2007 Summer today (other than the trip report, which may end up coming next week) with a quick look at some of the other PVC releases that we’ll be looking forward to over the coming months. Wondering about that second Musubi from Movic, or what Bome’s next release will be? How about that bizarre new Max Factory Polo System kit? We’ve got you covered.

[ERO] Figure News: cast-off checkup

In the prurient interests of comprehensive figure coverage, some updates on a few of the items we’ve been following here recently: Akiba Blog scoops the castoffability of Megahouse’s soon to be released Queen’s Blade Tomoe figure, albeit the limited color edition. Updated Amiami listings also bring good news, in the form of new shots of Taki Corporation’s ero-ero Kanu Unchou Ikkitousen kit and Movic’s recently announced Sekirei Tsukiumi and Matsu; relevant images reproduced below:

Figure News: Alter’s Exelica, Movic’s Tsukiumi and Matsu go up for preorder

Alter posted an official page for its December-release Exelica PVC from Trigger Heart Exelica earlier this morning, and Amiami responded at their noon update with listings for both it and the earlier scooped Sekirei Tsukiumi and Matsu PVCs coming from Movic in October and November respectively. At 15,540 yen retail Exelica’s price is as astronomical as the figure is impressive, but for the Sekirei fan that I am the Matsu and Tsukiumi are looking like fine items indeed. :3 Still no word on the second version of Musubi they have in the works; hopefully she’ll be on display at Wonder Festival. Decent resolution Matsu and Tsukiumi pictures below:

Figure News: Goodsmile presents Iori Minase and Onegai Onsen, Movic lists Tsukiumi and Matsu

Goodsmile has just uploaded pages for a November release Iori Minase figure from Idol Master Xenoglossia, along with the earlier scooped Max Factory ero-ero Onegai Onsen trading figures from Onegai Teacher / Twins due out in December. Movic also updated earlier this morning with preorder pages for their Sekirei Tsukiumi (October release) and Matsu (November release) PVC figures. Time to man the preorder lookout posts… Edit: Movic’s listings mention that this second round of Sekirei figures will include a new version of Musubi as well, rounding out the trio. [ERO] Figure Review: Movic’s Musubi PVC, from Sekirei

When a trio of Sekirei figures were announced at Wonder Festival Summer 2006, despite the good-looking prototypes available at the event I wasn’t particularly interested. That all changed when I picked up the manga that was their source, and realized that Gokurakuin Sakurako‘s delightful little bundle of fanservice and moe was more than I had given it credit for. Does Movic’s PVC rendition of Musubi do her manga counterpart justice? I’d answer that with a resounding YES, but don’t take my word for it – read on!
