Figure Review: Alter’s Franco il Nero (Kuro no Franco)

Kuro no Franco (Franco il Nero) hit store shelves today as the second figure in Alter’s trilogy of heroines from last year’s dynamite Nitro+ eroge Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango (Tre Donne Crudeli). Following on the heels of December’s Donne Anonime would be no small feat, but if successful the acrobatic pose chosen for Franco’s incarnation had the potential to outclass even the Woman with No Name. Does Alter’s production prove up to the task? Franco would like to have a word with you on that…

Goods News: Donne Anonime (Namae no Nai Onna) dakimakura coming from Nijigen Cospa (updated)

Props to savage for alerting me to this in comments to the recent Mainichi post: according to this Akiba Blog post from last Saturday, eroge maker Nitro+ is collaborating with goods maker Nijigen Cospa to produce a hug pillow featuring Donne Anonime (“Namae no Nai Onna”) from the July-released Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango. Illustrator Niθ is on design duty, and the pillow clocks in with specs similar to other recent Cospa releases: double-sided, 150 x 50 cm, and (presumably) 9,450 yen retail. Release is scheduled for Comiket 73 at the end of December, and while there’s no word regarding a general release I presume one will be forthcoming; we’ll keep an eye out for further news. Update: she’s now up for preorder at Cospa’s official online shop, with a release date set for early March of next year. Updated pictures below:

What does the first figure incarnation from the latest Nitro+ tour de force have to offer? Read on for the nitty gritty spit-in-your-eye sci fi spaghetti Western straight shootin’ truth!

Mainichi Junk: C73 roundup, anime news, etc.

It’s a general roundup of news from the past few days in another installment of the increasingly inaccurately named Mainichi Junk! We’ve got stuff from all corners of the otakuverse today, starting with a heaping helping of Comic Market 73 (the latest on Momoi’s AX DVD, Keumaya’s new doujin figure project, and hug pillows galore), new moves on the anime scene (trailers for Mnemosyne, Code Geass season 2, and Kite Liberator), eroanime news (featuring a new Pixy title in the “valkyrie vs. orc” genre), a few bits of figure gossip (Orchid’s Erika shipping for reals, Donne Anonime too, and Shuraki mangafication) and a new MOSAIC.WAV eroge movie that is certainly worth your viewing time.

Figure News: Hobby Japan January 2008 leftovers

We’ve already scooped the bulk of what was new in this month’s issue of Hobby Japan, but after getting my hands on an actual copy of the magazine last night I noticed a few other odds and ends that might be of interest. Includes updates from Witchblade, Kimikiss, Code Geass, Queen’s Blade, Bible Black, and Nitro+ character designer Niθ; details below:

[ERO] Figure News: last chance on Hobby Japan limited Jingai Makyou Didii PVC

Hobby Japan posted a reminder over the weekend that the preorder deadline for their mail order limited Didii PVC from Nitro+’s Jingai Makyou is rapidly approaching. Along with a few new pictures of the kit both clothed and cast off comes the news that all orders must be postmarked by November 12th, setting a hard limit for those of us thinking of procuring the kit at anything close to a reasonable price; She’s still available for preorder from Play Asia for those interested, though preorders are likely to end at some point before the 12th so the PA staff can fill out the necessary forms and run them to the post office. I need to do the same here soon… (no more)

[ERO] Figure Review: Orchid Seed’s Ignis the White PVC from Jingai Makyou

When Ignis the White was first revealed back on February 14th of this year it really did feel like Valentine’s Day had come a day early. I was instantly smitten by the figure, the likes of which had previously existed only in my wettest of dreams – we had seen several figure incarnations of the Jingai Makyou heroine already, but none that dared challenge the monumental intricacy of her “undying flame” incarnation. Would the craftsmanship of Orchid Seed rise to the occasion and prove equal to the task of replicating this truly epic sculpt? Read on for the opinion of one humble fan…

Game Book News: Queen’s Gate official site open

The official site for Queen’s Blade spinoff series Queen’s Gate is now open! Based on the Lost Worlds series of combat game books from Flying Buffalo Press, Queen’s Gate serves as the portal between the Queen’s Blade series and the creative works of other brands joining in partnership to release other characters in the Lost Worlds format. The first two installments are Mon wo Hiraku Mono Arisu, designed by Niθ of Nitro+, and the POP-illustrated Magical Girl Pastel Ink, heroine of the Moetan anime and English otaku phrase book series. Both combat artbooks are scheduled for release on November 30th at 1,500 yen each, and like their Queen’s Blade counterparts will be hardcover and full color. We’ll be keeping an eye out for further news on this series – could Maritan be next? (no more)

Figure News: Nitro+ shop limited version of Alter’s Kuro no Franco PVC unveiled

With the regular edition up for preorder last week, the official Nitro+ online shop today took the wraps off their limited edition Kuro no Franco PVC figure from Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango. As expected the three major design differences are her expression, the addition of a scarf, and the striped undergarment so brazenly flaunted in place of the original white. Those preferring this version will likely have to acquire it via a proxy, as she’s only available from the Nitro+ shop. (no more)

Figure News: preorder and limited edition miscellany

A few miscellaneous items now in preorder: Resinya’s Kushieda Minori from Toradora! (January release), Aizu Project’s Ryomou Shimei (gosurori ver.) cold cast from Ikkitousen (February release), Beat’s original Amaha Collection Wildcat Anna (December release), and Chrono Gate’s Murata Yukari from Rocket Girls (March release). In limited edition news, a Nitro+ online shop limited Kuro no Franco will be released with additional scarf, different facial expression and different colored underwear; a limited edition pink Konomi (maid ver.) is coming from Kotobukiya shops, and an Amiami-limited Wildcat Anna will be available in silver. Also in from Kotobukiya via Akiba Hobby is word that we’ll be seeing a Shining Wind Kureha from them sometime next year. (no more)

Event News: Dream Party Tokyo 2007 Fall preview

The fall edition of Tokyo’s premiere bishoujo game expo is happening tomorrow, and while I won’t be able to make it this time around here are a few things that will be going on there: Nitro+ is holding a Nitro Royale tournament (preview from Akiba Blog); record label 5pb. is holding an hour-long concert featuring Momoi Haruko among others; Candy Soft will be unveiling details regarding their upcoming Tsuyokiss sequel; Sakakibara Yui will be doing a stage event to promote Kogado’s upcoming yuri-themed Solfege PC bishoujo game, in which she plays the heroine; and on the figure side, Goodsmile and Toys Planning will be there, hopefully with some new items on display. We’ll be keeping tabs on news from the event as it’s forthcoming. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Orchid Seed presents Anna from Gekkou no Carnivale

Amiami’s evening update today brings news of a new Orchid Seed PVC production: Anna, the heroine of Nitro+‘s January ’07-released eroge Gekkou no Carnivale (character page here). She’s scheduled for release in February of next year at 1/7 scale (23 cm tall) and 6,800 yen retail; from the composite sample image up at Amiami we can state with confidence that she is fully castoffable from the torso up. Waiting for more thorough visual evidence might be in order before putting cash down, but from the preliminary shots here she’s looking like a very cute figure indeed. :3 (no more)

Goods News: Queen’s Gate Mon wo Hiraku Mono Arisu, Mahou Shoujo Nijihara Ink up for preorder

Amiami has preorder pages up for the two inaugural entries in the Queen’s Gate series of combat game artbooks, based on Hobby Japan’s Queen’s Blade series (which in turn is based on Flying Buffalo’s Lost Worlds combat books). Queen’s Gate is a spinoff series of Queen’s Blade that features the work of famous artists and brands brought into the Lost Worlds game system and artbook format. First scooped at HD back in July, the two characters now up for preorder are the Nitro+ / Niθ-designed Mon wo Hiraku Mono Arisu and the Pop-illustrated Mahou Shoujo Nijihara Ink, heroine of the otaku English phrasebook and anime series Moetan. The pair of hard cover, full color 64-page combat artbooks are scheduled for release on November 30th at 1,500 yen each; we’ll keep an eye out for preorder availability on sites that ship internationally.
