Tsuruya-san Figma preorder open

Online shop Be-J updated last night with a listing for a Tsuruya-san Figma action figure from Max Factory and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. She’s scheduled for release in October at 2,500 yen, and stands 15 cm tall (non-scale) with a sculpt produced by Masaki Apsy / Max Factory. The figure comes with the typical array of replaceable expansion parts, including two faces and several hands (Tsuruya’s signature “peace sign” pose included). With preorders unsealed at Be-J they should be appearing elsewhere online over the course of the day. Images below:

Figma Izumi Konata, Fate T. Harlaown preorders open

As we reported last night, preorders were unsealed today at noon for the two latest entries in Max Factory’s Figma action figure lineup: Izumi Konata (winter uniform ver.) from Lucky Star and Fate T. Harlaown (barrier jacket ver.) from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. Both are scheduled for release in July, non-scale (~13 cm tall), with Konata coming at 2,500 yen and Fate at 2,800 yen. Both sculpts are credited to Masaki Apsy and Max Factory. Figure images below:

Figma Kanu Unchou preorder begins

Amiami updated at five o’clock sharp this evening with a preorder listing for Max Factory’s Kanu Unchou Figma action figure from Ikkitousen! As we reported in our Hobby Japan coverage yesterday she’s scheduled for release in July at 2,800 yen retail, 14.5 cm tall (non-scale) with a sculpt from Masaki Apsy / Max Factory. She comes complete with several exchangeable parts, including three sets of faces and hands, her Reienkyo weapon, and “damaged clothing” parts. Figure images below:

Figma Mikuru, Itsuki preorders open: SOS-dan complete!

Goodsmile just updated their official site with product listings for Max Factory’s Figma action figure brand Asahina Mikuru (school uniform ver.) and Koizumi Itsuki (school uniform ver.) figures from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. As we reported earlier they’re scheduled for release in June at 2,500 yen each, with Mikuru at 13.5 cm tall and Itsuki at 15 cm tall (non-scale). Both come with a variety of face and hand configurations, and Itsuki comes with a “back sheet” (cardboard? cutout) of the SOS-dan’s clubroom, so you can recreate your own diorama scenes. Sculpting is from Masaki Apsy, and producion is from Max Factory; the pair completes the core SOS-dan lineup following the release of Nagato, Haruhi, and the announcement of Kyon. With these listings up at Goodsmile preorders are sure to follow shortly. Images below:

Max Factory unveils Hoshii Miki PVC pair

Dengeki Hobby’s online news site brings the scoop this evening with release details for Max Factory’s Hoshii Miki PVC figure from The Idolmaster! We first got word of her back at Wonder Festival and now her release has been confirmed, scheduled to retail in two versions in September, each at 7,500 yen. Both the kitai no shinsei (“anticipated new star”) blond version and the kakusei (“awakening”) brown-haired version are 1/8 scale (20 cm tall), with sculpts from Tokunaga Hironori (Replicant profile); the former comes with optional cat paws and ears, while the latter comes with a princess tiara and drill arm replacement. I think I’d have to play the game to understand that one… now that she’s out officially in the media I’m thinking we can expect preorder listings to appear soon. Images from Dengeki’s coverage below:

Hatsune Miku Figma announced at TAF

While not primarily a figure event, a few makers set up shop at this weekend’s Tokyo International Anime Fair, Goodsmile included. The biggest new item announced today at their booth was a Figma Hatsune Miku action figure, from Crypton’s Vocaloid2 virtual idol line; we don’t know anything beyond the photos yet, but from the looks of it we’ve got another crazy hot item on our hands. Moeyo! Akibajin blog has a look as well, which also includes a color shot of Goodsmile’s 1/8 Hatsune Miku PVC that we scooped back at Wonder Festival. We’ll be on the lookout for further details on both figures as well as other figure fallout from TAF. (no more)

Mikuru (culture festival ver.) preorder open

The official site of figure maker Goodsmile was updated today with a page for Max Factory’s Asahina Mikuru (culture festival ver.) PVC from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, and online shops put preorder listings up shortly thereafter. She’s due out in July at 1/8 scale (19 cm tall) at 5,800 yen retail, with a sculpt from Chieri. She comes with detachable cat ear and tail parts included along with a replacement hand and serving tray, and is sized to match Max Factory’s earlier released Tsuruya-san. Image gallery below:

Max Factory’s Another Blood online, preorders open

The official Goodsmile page was updated today with a listing for Max Factory’s Another Blood PVC from Demonbane! We’ve been tracking her from prototype through color sample so it’s great to finally see her online and available for preorder. She’s due out in July at 1/8 scale (14 cm tall), with a retail price of 7,800 yen; sculpting duty was handled by 呉 宝紅 (Go Houku?) of Tiger Gate. This is one that I think will likely make a lot of purchase lists… pictures below:

Figure News: Figma Saber, Haruhi preorders unleashed

Max Factory’s Figma action figure line was officially augmented yesterday with the unsealing for preorder of Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu) and Saber (Fate/stay night). We reported on the details of the release back on the 19th, but now both figures are officially available for preorder around the internets and have been flung inexorably along the trajectory that will lead to their April release – no doubt a dramatic one, if the Nagato Figma was any indication. To recap, April is the ETA for both figures and Haruhi is up for 2,500 yen, with Saber at 2,800. High-res images below:

Figure News: Max Factory does “Culture Festival” Mikuru, Haruhi and Saber Figmas

Max Factory unveiled the next installment in their Haruhi figure series today in a post on the official Goodsmile Blog! It’s Mikuru in her waitress costume from the school festival episode, and comes following the similarly appointed Tsuruya-san. Details such as price and release date are still unknown, but we know the sculpt is from Max Factory veteran Chieri, and that like Tsuruya, Mikuru will come with cat ears and a tail as option parts. She’ll be on display at Wonder Festival so we’ll be sure to pick up further information on Sunday. In other Max news, the official Figma site and blog were updated with information on the next two action figures in the lineup: Suzumiya Haruhi (school uniform ver.) and Saber from Fate/stay night. Both are scheduled for release in April, with Haruhi at 2,500 yen and Saber at 2,800 yen; production is supervised as usual by Masaki Apsy (Asai Masaki). Full product descriptions are expected to appear online on February 21st. Images of the Figma kits below:

Figure News: January 22 news roundup

No rest for the wicked today as figure news picks up from Wonder Festival and other quarters. Volks represents with a Muv Luv trading figure set, Toy’sworks introduces a new Prism Ark Priecia figure, Shueisha’s Solid Selction ponies up a Hiiragi Aika from Mx0, Taki Corporation tackles Sonsaku Hakufu in an [ERO] castoff version, FREEing brings a mecha action figure + bishoujo combo Sonic Diver Reijin from Sky Girls, and the Goodsmile / Max Factory collective debut their Wonder Festival 2008 Winter limited edition offerings.

[ERO] Figure News: C-Works’ Bible Black Shiraki Rika up for preorder, POLO System Wendy from Gun x Sword, etc.

Online shop Infinity Wonderland put up a preorder listing yesterday for [ERO] C-Works’ Shiraki Rika PVC from Shin Bible Black vol. 4 (first scooped back in November). This figure continues in the notorious tradition of Imari and Saeki, with a sculpt from Tainidou Tinykid and skirt and chest castoff configuration; it’s scheduled for release in April at 6,825 yen (size details are not disclosed in the listing, but she’s presumably 1/6 scale like her predecessors). In other news, an entry yesterday evening on the Goodsmile blog shows off the flexible shirt gimmick of Max Factory’s POLO System Wendy from Gun x Sword. This makes her a bit more interesting than originally expected… Finally, preorders were up briefly on Goodsmile’s official online shop yesterday evening for their Dark Elf Female PVC from Lineage II. She sold out within a few hours, but hopefully the release of this new batch onto the market will make her a bit easier to come by second-hand. (no more)

Figure News: Alter’s Kanu (black ver.) preorder open, Kemeko Nendoroid unmasked, Figma TV commercial

A few random figure news items from yesterday, starting with this: the black uniform version of Alter’s Kanu Unchou PVC that we scooped in December is now available for preorder. It’s an exclusive Hobby Japan online shop release, so if you’re looking to score a copy proxying may be the only way to go. Next, the official Goodsmile blog updated with an informal profile of the Kemeko Nendoroid from Kemeko Deluxe that we scooped in the figure fallout from C73. It turns out the freakish chibi Kemeko is actually a “human”-shaped robot in which Em-Em rides; stay tuned for further updates on this and the companion 1/8-scale Em-Em figure from Goodsmile soon. Finally, Max Factory action figure brand Figma aired a commercial last night (viewable here) along with the first episode of ARIA The ORIGINATION that featured their Nagato Yuki in a brief stop-motion animation version of the Haruhi dance. Figure News: Max Factory presents Baek Changpo from Senko no Ronde

The official Goodsmile page updated this morning with the announcement of a Baek Changpo PVC coming from Max Factory. She’s a character from arcade game Senko no Ronde (旋光の輪舞), first announced back at Wonder Festival this past summer but having seen nary a sample shot of her since then she dropped off the radar for awhile… She’s coming to us at in April of ’08 at 5,800 yen, 1/8 scale (14 cm tall) and with what’s being dubbed the “Choi Polo System”, which apparently in this case refers to the castoff ability of her transparent one-piece dress but nothing beyond that. With her up at Goodsmile preorders should be opening soon! (no more)

Mainichi Junk: C73 roundup, anime news, etc.

It’s a general roundup of news from the past few days in another installment of the increasingly inaccurately named Mainichi Junk! We’ve got stuff from all corners of the otakuverse today, starting with a heaping helping of Comic Market 73 (the latest on Momoi’s AX DVD, Keumaya’s new doujin figure project, and hug pillows galore), new moves on the anime scene (trailers for Mnemosyne, Code Geass season 2, and Kite Liberator), eroanime news (featuring a new Pixy title in the “valkyrie vs. orc” genre), a few bits of figure gossip (Orchid’s Erika shipping for reals, Donne Anonime too, and Shuraki mangafication) and a new MOSAIC.WAV eroge movie that is certainly worth your viewing time.

Figure News: Max Factory Shiranui Mai November reissue now in stock, etc.

Word is in from Moeyo that Max Factory’s Shiranui Mai PVC figure from King of Fighters is now in stock once again! If you missed her initial release in August this is your last best chance to pick her up at retail price before she hits the auction block. Play Asia briefly had her in stock but it seems they’ve already sold out… other newly available items can be found below:

Figure News: Max Factory presents Feena Fam Earthlight, Comic Gum does black and white Cerberus Project Kanu

Goodsmile updated their official site today with news of two new figures coming in March of 2008! First up is a Max Factory rendition of Feena Fam Earthlight from August’s eroge Yoake Mae Yori Ruri-Iro na, who clocks in at 1/8 scale (20 cm tall) and 6,300 yen retail. More exciting (to me) is the news that the the third and final of this summer’s limited edition Cerberus Project Ikkitousen figures released by Comic Gum is seeing wide release: their French Doll sculpted [ERO] Kanu Unchou (black and white ver.) PVC is due out at 7,800 yen and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) in March as well. In a third bit of news from Goodsmile today, FREEing’s 1/4 scale Kyon’s sister PVC from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu has been announced for a February ’08 reissue. Update: Preorders for all three are now up at Amiami! [ERO] Castoff Kanu shot below:

Figure News: Goodsmile / Max Factory’s March ’08 lineup unveiled! Includes maid Rider, AT2 Ruka, Bridget

Figure maker Goodsmile updated their official site today with three new items scheduled for release in March of next year. First up is what they’re billing in English as Rider Fantasy: Modest Maid, featuring the vituperative antagonist of Fate / stay night in a rather more mild setting. She’ll be coming from Goodsmile at 1/8 scale (21.5 cm tall) and 5,800 yen. Next up is Ruka, one of the two main heroines of Gust / Banpresto’s bishoujo RPG Ar Tonelico 2. She’ll be coming from Max Factory at 1/8 scale (19 cm tall) and 7,200 yen. Finally Max Factory brings us the androgynous Bridget, the (in)famous gender bending fighter from the Guilty Gear game franchise. He’ll be out at 1/7 scale (22 cm tall) and 6,800 yen retail. It’s good to finally see some of these figures we’ve been tracking for months finally online, and with preorders just around the corner! (no more)

Figure News: Max Factory’s Figma line comes alive, YUKI.N first in line for release

Word is in today from the official Figma site that Max Factory’s action figure line is finally entering production, with its first installment featuring Nagato Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. She’s set to go on sale on February 14th, 2008 at 2,500 yen and 13.5 cm tall; preorders and additional information will be revealed later on in November. In other bishoujo action figure news, the official Revoltech blog reminds us that preorders begin tomorrow for Ayanami Rei, the first in their Fraeulein lineup. They have a considerable lead on Max in the action figure department at this point, but it’ll be interesting to see how their bishoujo lines fare going head to head like this. (no more)

Figure Review: Max Factory’s Fasalina PVC from Gun x Sword

Starting with the factual propositions that a) Kimura Takahiro is a character design god and b) far too few of his characters have been actualized in figure form, it follows that a Max Factory incarnation of Gun x Sword’s Fasalina (especially one in this particularly enticing pose) would be a highly anticipated item. With the actual figure in hand, however, I must say that my expectations were not entirely met – read on for the hot but slightly disappointing details:

Figure News: Kotona Elegance (costume ver.), Kokonoe Rin reissue coming from Max Factory

Goodsmile updated their official site today with two items of Max Factory news: firstly that a Kotona Elegance (costume ver.) PVC figure from Zoids: Genesis will be coming from the brand in February of next year at 1/7 scale (18 cm tall) and 6,800 yen; and secondly that their POLO System [ERO] Kokonoe Rin PVC from Kodomo no Jikan will be reissued yet again, scheduled for rerelease in November. Great news for the Kotona fans, and great news for Max’s wallet with the reissue timing… given current circumstances they shouldn’t have any trouble at all selling as many castoffable Rin figures as they choose to produce.
