Kotobukiya’s Shining Wind Ryuuna, other reissues

Preorders opened on Monday for Kotobukiya’s Ryuuna from Shining Wind. She’s scheduled for release in December at 6,090 yen retail and 1/8 scale (20 cm tall), with a sculpt credited to “MIC, Inc.”; the sculptor’s actual identity is unknown. In other Kotobukiya news, preorders opened yesterday for November reissues of their Kirijou Mitsuru figure from Persona 3 and their Louise figure from Zero no Tsukaima. Ryuuna images below:

Kurogane no Linebarrels Kizaki Emi PVC now in color

We first saw her announced back at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, and today Kotobukiya updated with color images of their Kizaki Emi PVC figure from manga and upcoming TV anime Kurogane no Linebarrels. She’s scheduled for release in October at an undisclosed retail price (previously reported at 6,090 yen), and 1/8 scale (21 cm tall). The sculptor is currently uncredited. Figure images below:

Shining figure update

The official Shining Series figure blog updated with news this evening that following Clalaclan Noir Kotobukiya will be releasing Shining Wind’s Ryuuna in PVC form, and the post includes a teaser shot of her prototype from behind as evidence. This will be the 9th figure in Kotobukiya’s Shining lineup, and tonight’s blog post indicates that at least three more are planned from the maker. In other Shining news, the “soft body” Xecty from Wave that we’ve been watching for the past several months will be unveiled at their official site at 11:00 AM on the morning of June 11th, according to very strong hints in this post. We’ll keep an eye out for preorders to appear over the noon hour on Wednesday. (no more)

Kotobukiya announces gothic lolita Ayanami Rei

Figure maker Kotobukiya updated this afternoon with a vendor listing for a new Ayanami Rei (gothic lolita “noir” version) PVC figure from Neon Genesis Evangelion. She’s set for release in October at 7,140 yen and 1/7 scale (height unspecified), with a sculpt from Nishimura Naoki (Pilot). She’s designed to match Kotobukiya’s earlier released gothic lolita Asuka, and her hat is removable. Images below:

Kotobukiya’s Clalaclan, Nanako preorders open

Kotobukiya updated their vendor page this afternoon with listings for the pair, and Amiami soon followed with preorder pages up for Shining Wind‘s Clalaclan Noire (Noir) and a newly announced Nanako PVC figure from To Heart 2: Another Days. Both are scheduled for release in September, with Clalaclan coming at 6,090 yen retail with a sculpt from Otoyama Houjun (other details available in our earlier coverage) and Nanako to retail at 4,725 yen, 1/8 scale (16 cm tall), with a sculpt from Nisshii. Kotobukiya announces Clalaclan Noire

The Shining series figure blog updated this evening with the surprise announcement of a new color version of one of the greatest PVC figures Kotobukiya has ever produced, Shining Wind‘s Clalaclan. This alternate color version was designed and supervised by Tony himself, and is still a work in progress – the skin and hair color will be changed from the sample seen below, as will the base (whiter skin, darker base). Starting with Kureha the plastic they’re using for character skin is changing as well to be more transparent, so that will be a change from the previous version as well. According to the post, preorders for Clalaclan Noire will begin “very soon”. Sample images below:

Yamashita Shunya’s Mirei gets busted

A preorder listing went up this afternoon at Kotobukiya’s Rakuten online shop for a polystone bust statue version of Yamashita Shunya‘s Mirei-san character, earlier released in PVC (HD review here). This new figure is being released as part of Kotobukiya’s “Art of Shunya Yamashita” bust lineup, and is similarly priced at 10,290 yen with release expected in September. She’s non-scale and stands 18.5 cm tall, with a sculpt from Arai Kousuke (Never Land). Images below:

Kotobukiya’s Niθ-designed Aile to see PVC release

Starting with her announcement last November we reported on the production of an original Niθ-designed “Aile” (アイル) garage kit under the auspices of Kotobukiya and the Plamo wo Tsukurou! CUSTOM TV show. It shaped up into a very nice kit, but we learned in February that she’d only be available in unpainted/unassembled resin form at Wonder Festival and that was the end of the story – until now. See below for more:

Kotobukiya’s Blanc Neige, Kurugaya Yuiko preorders open

Following up on the final prototypes recently unveiled for both figures, Kotobukiya this morning provided preorder information to retailers regarding their Shining Wind Blanc Neige and Little Busters! Kurugaya Yuiko PVCs. Both are scheduled for release in Septemeber, with Blanc Neige clocking in at 1/8 scale and 6,090 yen retail. Her sculpt is credited to “Kotobukiya”, and her wand and cloak are removable. Yuiko is also 1/8 scale, with a 5,775 yen price tag and a sculpt from Abira (no significant castoff potential here). With this paper circulated to retailers we can expect preorders to appear online today in the coming hours. Images below:

Kotobukiya’s Blanc Neige final prototype

The official Shining game series figure blog recently launched a parallel separate blog with identical content, and it’s there that the final pre-production prototype of Kotobukiya’s Shining Wind Blanc Neige PVC figure appeared this evening. This is the same version that was on display last week at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, and according to the blog post is the final amended version before she enters mass PVC production. We’ll be watching for full details when preorders open soon. Note that this is a different item from Kotobukiya’s earlier released Shining Tears Blanc Neige – she changes costumes between games. Yamashita Shunya 2nd artbook announced

Online shop Getchu updated this evening with a product listing for an item that’s sure to turn a lot of heads: Yamashita Shunya’s newly announced second artbook, WILD FLOWER. This is the first visual collection of his work following the release of Sweet Dreams almost three years ago, and Getchu’s listing provides some tantalizing details: the book is the first print publication ever credited to figure maker Kotobukiya, with production from publisher Shinkigensha (know otherwise for their role playing sourcebooks and other geeky material). It’s scheduled for release on June 10th at 2,900 yen retail, A4 size, 128 pages and includes over 100 illustrations ranging from original work to figure designs and card game illustrations. Several sample images are presented, which are duplicated below:

Ayanami, Kanu, Didii figure updates

Three minor bits of figure news today: first is word from Kotobukiya that their plug suit Ayanami Rei will be reissued in September at 7,140 yen, 1/6 scale (20 cm tall), and with a sculpt from Shirahige Tsukuru. Preorders for the reissue should be open soon.

Next, online shop Ganbo Store has announced that preorders for a limited color version of Happinet’s armored Kanu Unchou will open officially at noon on May 22nd. We can infer from this that regular edition preorders will open around that same time as well, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for those in the next week or two.

Finally, Hobby Japan is reporting that their magazine-limited Jingai Makyou Didii will be shipping on May 21st. Those who ordered via Play-Asia or another proxy service can expect their deliveries to ship around that time. (no more)

Shining Wind Mao, Blanc Neige progress report

The official blog of all figures Shining updated over the weekend with a look at the two newest items in Kotobukiya’s Shining Wind bishoujo figure lineup, Mao and Blanc Neige. The Mao shots aren’t unique to this post (this is the same prototype we’ve seen at Akiba Hobby and in Amiami’s product listing for the past couple of weeks), but the Blanc Neige initial PVC prototype is seen here for the first time. With this up at the Shining blog it seems we can expect preorders for her to appear soon. Pictures below:

Kotobukiya’s Haruka (damage ver.) preorder open

Kotobukiya submitted another entrant into the Choukou Sennin Haruka (Beat Blades Haruka) figure fray today, though not an unexpected one – their Sennin Haruka (damage ver.) PVC follows on the heels of both their regular version Haruka and a damage version of their Sennin Narika. This damage version Haruka differs from her regular edition counterpart with an “embarrassed” face part, as well as holes ripped in her costume; coming in August her release is a month later than the regular version, but price (6,090 yen) and size (1/8 scale, 20 cm tall) are otherwise unchanged. Figure images below:

Kotobukiya Nono, Tama-chan, Kudryavka, Leon preorders open

Kotobukiya unleashed four new finished PVC figures for preorder at their official online shop today, a few of which I’m betting will be big sellers when they see release in August (all four are August releases). First up is Nekomiya Nono (cat ears school swimsuit thigh-highs ver.) from Yotsunoha, coming at 1/6 scale (24 cm tall) with a sculpt from Abe Masato and a retail price of 6,090 yen. Next is Kawazoe Tamaki from Bamboo Blade, clocking in at 1/8 scale (18 cm tall) and 5,775 yen, with a sculpt from Kiohara Hidemasa. Third is Noumi Kudryavka of Little Busters!, 1/8 scale (17.5 cm tall) and 5,775 yen with a sculpt from Nisshii, and finally we have the odd man out with Leon Magnus from Tales of Destiny, coming at 1/10 scale (16 cm tall) and 4,410 yen with a sculpt from Tatsumaki. Kotobukiya presents Yamashita Shunya’s Naomi

Figure maker Kotobukiya updated their online shop today with a listing for a new Art of Yamashita Shunya pre-painted cold cast bust figure, Naomi. She’s scheduled for release in August at 18.5 cm tall (non-scale) and 10,290 yen retail, with a sculpt from Ogasawara Taketo; the figure is nominally Kotobukiya shop limited but similar items have regularly been made available via international distribution outlets in the past, so we can expect her to appear for preorder elsewhere shortly. Image gallery below:

Kotobukiya’s Nekomiya Nono, in color

We brought you a first look at this PVC figure back in March, and yesterday evening Kotobukiya updated once again with pictures of their cat-eared, school-swimsuited Nekomiya Nono prototype, now in color. Nono is the heroine of Hi-Quo Soft’s eroge Yotsunoha as well as the recently released all-ages OVA by the same name (Japanese Wikipedia). As reported earlier, the kit is scheduled to retail in August at 1/6 scale (just over 20 cm tall); sculptor and price information are currently unknown. This is one of the cutest kits I’ve seen in awhile, and I’m guessing Kotobukiya will have a real winner on their hands here… We’ll be keeping an eye out for preorder information. Image below:

Kotobukiya presents Shining Wind Mao, magazine schedule

Figure maker Kotobukiya posted a product listing to their official online shop over the noon hour today for a PVC figure of Mao from the Tony-designed PS2 RPG Shining Wind. She’s due out in July at 1/8 scale (16.5 cm tall) and 5,775 yen retail, with a castoffable jacket; sculptor information is unconfirmed but my guess is that she’s the work of Nakamura Hirotoshi.

In other Kotobukiya news, the maker has posted a list of upcoming figures that will be featured in hobby magazines through the month of April. The key bishoujo PVC items appear to be:

  • Lala – To Love-Ru
  • Mao – Shining Wind
  • Noumi Kudryavka – Little Busters!
  • Kamikita Komari – Little Busters!
  • Sennin Haruka – Choukou Sennin Haruka (Beat Blades Haruka)
  • Rion – Tales of Destiny
  • Naomi – Art of Yamashita Shunya

A couple of new announcements in the mix there that we’ll be watching for as the Dengeki Hobby / Hobby Japan street date nears in a few more days. Mao pictures below:

To Love-Ru animal girl Lala PVC preorder open

The official online shop of publisher Shueisha updated today with a pair of listings (regular and limited) for two color versions of a new Lala Satalin Deviluke (animal cafe ver.) figure from To Love-Ru. Preorders are open until May 31st, and both are scheduled to go on sale August 22nd at 6,500 yen retail, 1/8 scale (17.5 cm tall), with a sculpt from Makio Munetoshi; the leopard-print version is the regular edition (based on her appearance in the manga) while the white version is “limited”, though precisely how limited is unknown. Figure production is from Kotobukiya. Both versions are castoffable both top and bottom, though she’s wearing some (very skimpy) lingerie beneath; preview images below:

Kotobukiya’s Beat Blades Haruka preorder open

Kotobukiya posted a vendor product listing today for their latest PVC figure announcement, Sennin Haruka (Takamori Haruka from the recently released Alice Soft eroge Choukou Sennin Haruka / Beat Blades Haruka). She is scheduled for release in July at 1/8 scale and 6,090 yen retail, with a sculpt from Makio Munetoshi. This release was originally scooped at Wonder Festival, and follows February’s announcement from Kotobukiya of Beat Blades co-heroine Sennin Narika [PA]. With this listing going out to retailers today we can expect preorders to appear shortly, likely as part of Amiami’s noon update. Images below:

Two new “Shining” series figures announced

Recapping a bit of news from a couple of days ago, the official Shining series figure blog Shine na Blog posted with unpainted prototype shots of a new Shining Wind Blanc Neige figure coming from Kotobukiya. Little is revealed in the entry text (no news as to a release window, price or sculptor information) but it is mentioned that her cape is removable.

President Japan‘s Eye Ball blog brings news of the second recently announced Shining Wind figure, a new rendition of Kureha. The color prototype is pictured before final detailed color tuning, but provides a rough look of what to expect from the final version; again virtually no information regarding the sculptor, price, or release date is provided, though it is noted that her skirt is castoffable. We’ll be keeping an eye out for further information on both figures in the coming weeks. Images below:

Kotobukiya’s Suzume, Kamikita Komari preorders open

Kotobukiya updated its official site earlier today with listings for two new figures that we initially reported on last month: Suzume from Alice Soft eroge Sengoku Rance, and Kamikita Komari from Key’s Little Busters!. Suzume is scheduled for release in July at 1/8 scale (17 cm tall) and 5,775 yen, with a sculpt from Kajio Munetoshi. Knowing Kotobukiya’s track record it’s likely she’s not meant to be cast off, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for further sample images. Kamikita Komari is also due out in July at 5,775 yen and 1/8 scale (10 cm tall), with a sculpt from Takaku & Takeshi. She comes with an exchangeable twinkly-eyed face part, and heat sensitive color changing panties (according to the product description, no visual evidence yet). Images below:

Yamashita Shunya Arisugawa Shii, Angela busts from Kotobukiya

I noticed these on Play-Asia last night (Arisugawa Shii, Angela) so the news isn’t completely fresh, but Kotobukiya has posted entries for its “shop limited” Art of Yamashita Shunya cold cast busts Angela and Arisugawa Shii at their Rakuten online shop today. They’re due out in June at 10,290 yen each, non-scale (18 cm tall), and of the two only Shii is credited with a sculptor (Ogasawara Taketo). If you think you’ve seen her before, you’re right; this is Shii’s second appearance in Kotobukiya’s Yamashita lineup (the first was released last May). (no more)

Kotobukiya’s Horo, Elwyn preorders open, Mao in planning

Kotobukiya posted retailer order forms this morning for two new items we saw unveiled at Wonder Festival: first is their Elwyn from Shining Wind, scheduled for release in June at 6,090 yen retail, and 1/8 scale (21 cm tall) with a sculpt from Nakamura Takuchi. Next is their Horo from Spice and Wolf, who’s coming in July at 6,090 yen retail, 1/8 scale (19.5 cm tall) with a sculpt from Kitaike Shoukaku. Preorders for both should appear around the internets soon. In other Kotobukiya news, the official Shining figure blog reports that a Shining Wind Mao is currently in the planning stages, and is already looking quite nice. Pictures of all three below:

Figure News: Kotobukiya’s June lineup unveiled

Kotobukiya announced their June release lineup today, including a couple of surprises – their collaboration with Alice Soft continues with the release of Sennin Narika, one of the heroines of the upcoming Choukou Sennin Haruka (Beat Blades Haruka) eroge. Also coming are a swimsuit-clad Suzu from Nagasarete Airantou, Natsume Rin from Little Busters, Hitomi from DOAX2, and perhaps most surprising, a Black Sarena plastic model from the Nadesico movie. Details below:

Figure News: Art of Yamashita Shunya Karin, Noel up for preorder

As L.C predicted in a reply to the recent March ’08 Hobby Japan post, the two latest entries in Kotobukiya’s Art of Yamashita Shunya series are entitled Karin (preorder page) and Noel (preorder page). These two busts join Niniane in the polystone Shunya lineup from Kotobukiya, and are scheduled to retail in May at 10,290 yen each (non-scale, 17.5 cm tall). Both are a limited run of 500 units, and are limited to sale via the Kotobukiya online shop only (though I have a hunch they’ll appear via other retailers internationally as well, if Niniane is any indication). Pictures below:

Figure News: Shining Wind’s Elwin, Xecty see fresh PVC incarnations from Kotobukiya, Wave

Shine na Blog brings word today of two new Shining Wind figures in planning. The first is an Elwin / Elwyn (new costume ver.) PVC from Kotobukiya, 1/8 scale with a sculpt from Nakamura Hirotoshi. No news on price or release date is yet available; further information is expected in early spring. The second new figure is from Wave, and features Xecty in a sleeping pose. At 1/8 scale she’s speculated to be part of their DreamTech line, with an original pose based on an illustration from page five of the Shining Wind design works visual collection artbook. The figure’s gimmicks are a) a “soft part” torso extending down to her thighs, b) her one-piece dress is made of “very soft material”, and c) an exchangeable “sleeping face” head part. Some castoffability is implied, though the extent is not known. A color version of this figure is expected to be on display at Wonder Festival 2008 Winter on February 24th; we’ll be keeping an eye out for further information. (no more)

Figure News: Kotobukiya’s Artwork of Yamashita Shunya Niniane preorder up, etc. (updated)

While checking Play Asia‘s listings today to update our figure release schedule I came across a puzzling item: a cold cast figure described as “The Art of Shunya Yamashita Fine Art Bust Cold Cast Statue: Niniane“. It’s a roughly 1/8 scale cold cast bust (15 cm tall, 18 with sword) retailing at 9,710 yen on the PA site, with release scheduled for next April; I’m not sure if this is a limited edition item, a non-Japan release, or even whether it’s legitimate at all, but I’ve seen neither hide nor hair of it beyond the Play Asia site so a mystery she shall remain for now. It’s supposedly from Kotobukiya, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for news from that quarter… other newly updated items can be found below. Update: see below for the evening’s figure take, and a first look at Daiki Kougyou’s Shiranui Mai castoff:

Figure News: Kotobukiya’s April ’08 lineup unveiled, includes Sengoku Rance, Clannad, To Heart 2, DOAX2, Shining Wind (updated)

Kotobukiya updated their official site this afternoon with four five new PVC figures scheduled for release in April of next year! First up is Uesugi Kenshin, one of the main heroines of Alice Soft’s 2006 eroge epic Sengoku Rance (figure originally covered here). She’s due out at 1/8 scale and 7,140 yen retail. Next up is the newest installment in the Venus on the Beach series from DOAX2, Tina. She’s due out at 1/6 scale and 9,240 yen, and like her predecessors sports two different clothing configurations. A limited edition color version is coming from Tecmo. Finally we have a maid version Komaki Manaka from To Heart 2 Another Days and Ichinose Kotomi from Clannad, both due out at 1/8 scale (Manaka at 6,090 yen and Kotomi at 5,040 yen). I’m tempted by the Kenshin, but that face sculpt doesn’t really do her justice… if only Volks would put out some of their stuff in PVC. ;__; Update: Kotobukiya’s April schedule also includes their version of Shining Wind‘s Kureha, now up for preorder at Amiami along with their other April offerings. She’s due out at 1/8 scale and 6,090 yen retail. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: castoff update – Kotobukiya’s Xecty Ein from Shining Wind

Kotobukiya’s Xecty PVC from Shining Wind went on sale recently, and there has been some curiosity regarding her castoff potential. I’m sad to report that like Clalaclan before her Xecty is more a tease job than anything – her shirt is removable, but there’s nothing of interest to be found underneath. This is expressed most eloquently by the following image, mined from 2chan’s mokeiura board:
