[ERO] Figure News: Orchid Seed Wonder Festival 2008 Winter lineup

Orchid Seed updated their official site this afternoon with the lineup of items they’ll have for sale at Wonder Festival 2008 Winter. We scooped the limited edition of their Chichinoe+ 2 figure yesterday in our coverage from Hobby Japan, but seeing her here these limited edition colors seem like a definite step back from the original, alas. Far more exciting is news of the two resin kits to be on sale, an Ishiyama Satoshi-sculpted Kanu Unchou in (castoffable?) bikini, and a Nekomaru-sculpted Kazami Mizuho from Onegai Teacher. The details of these don’t really matter – what’s important is that precedent decrees that both of these kits will inevitably be released as PVC at some point in the coming year, which is totally awesome news for fans of Kanu, Mizuho, and Ishiyama Satoshi’s mad sculpting skills. Figure News: January 22 news roundup

No rest for the wicked today as figure news picks up from Wonder Festival and other quarters. Volks represents with a Muv Luv trading figure set, Toy’sworks introduces a new Prism Ark Priecia figure, Shueisha’s Solid Selction ponies up a Hiiragi Aika from Mx0, Taki Corporation tackles Sonsaku Hakufu in an [ERO] castoff version, FREEing brings a mecha action figure + bishoujo combo Sonic Diver Reijin from Sky Girls, and the Goodsmile / Max Factory collective debut their Wonder Festival 2008 Winter limited edition offerings.

Goods News: Ikkitousen’s Sonsaku Hakufu dakimakura coming from Chara Hai

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Institute: recently established character goods shop Chara Hai put up a listing yesterday for a Sonsaku Hakufu hug pillow cover from Ikkitousen. The pillow is up for preorder through February 15th with release expected on March 15th, at a 9,450 yen preorder price point (case only). It weighs in at 150 x 50 cm, with original art on both sides;
not much is known about Chara Hai at this point so it’s hard to say whether international retailers will be able to stock this item, but given that the shop seems to otherwise stock items exclusively from Machi Chara it seems there may be an arrangement between the two that might allow for the use of similar distribution channels. Figure News: limited edition black uniform version of Alter’s Kanu coming from Hobby Channel, etc.

Some bits of figure news coming over the desk from yesterday evening: first is news that Hobby Japan’s online arm Hobby Channel will be offering a 700-piece limited edition run of a black school uniform variant of Alter’s Kanu Unchou PVC from Ikkitousen. She’s set for release in April at specs similar to her regular edition counterpart (1/8 scale, 21.5 cm tall, 7,140 yen) and preorders open at the Hobby Japan online shop on January 7th. See below for more news:

December 21st 2007 figure news roundup (updated)

A whole lot of action on the figure front to sum up today, including a continuation of Cerberus Project’s collaboration with Wafuudou Ganguten, a faux trap figure from Toy’sworks that’s almost Bridgetlicious, a bunny Haruhi + guitar prize figure, a review of the Haruhi itasha model first seen back at the Miyazawa Model exhibition, a step-by-step tour through a Nakoruru castoff, a couple of new angles on Alter’s Kanu, and a Keumaya update. Check it out! Update: Keumaya’s new items up at Toranoana, Revoltech Fraeulein Asuka and Play Stationery Rin up for preorder!

[ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku #001 Kanu Unchou from Ikkitousen

A figure we’ve been anticipating here at HD for almost a year, Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou has finally arrived. Pairing the peerless sculpting skill of Cobra-Kai’s Toushirou with Shiozaki Yuuji’s erotic designs from an evocative scene of the Ikkitousen manga, will the first installment in Yamato’s new and ambitious Dynamite lineup provide production quality to match the design talent assembled? Read on for the thunderous conclusion to what feels at this point like an epic quest through time and space…

Figure News: Orchid Seed’s Shiori enters full preorder, amaloli Ryofu Housen announced; Q-six’s Linda kit sells out

After her unveiling yesterday on Orchid’s official site we assumed it would only be a matter of (short) time before her preorder became widely available, and it seems we were right: Hobby Stock has a preorder listing up today for Orchid Seed’s Tsuzuki Shiori (bikini ver.) PVC figure, with other shops presumed to follow shortly. I’ll be watching Amiami like a hawk… In other news from Orchid, they’ve announced a new “amaloli” color version of their recently released gothic lolita Ryofu Housen PVC figure. This pink dress version is apparently limited to sale via wholesale supplier Shinpo, and release is expected in the spring (preorders close on January 25th) at 6,800 yen retail. On the garage kit side of things, the Linda-designed Q-Six resin kit we reported on earlier this month went up for preorder and back down again with astonishing speed, with the first wave of production shipping on the 28th. Horribly color-reduced GIF images of the [ERO] kit can be found here. We’ll be on the lookout for further news on all of these items as it comes to light. (no more)

Figure News: Haruhi, Fortune Arterial, Keroro coming from Wave, Dynamite Kanu PVC sample up at Moeyo

Wave updated today with a few new items on their release lineup for next spring: Treasure Figure Collection Suzumiya Haruhi is coming out in May at 4,935 yen and 1/10 scale (16 cm tall), DreamTech Sendou Erika from the new August game Fortune Arterial will be out in late April at 5,775 yen, 1/8 scale with a sculpt from zenko, and Dark Keroro x Nasuka will be out in conjunction with the new Keroro Gunsou movie on in late January, but it may only be available in theaters in Japan (4,800 yen, non-scale, 15 cm tall). In other news Moeyo has a sample PVC review of Yamato’s [ERO] Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou online, and she’s looking a good sight better than in Akiba Hobby’s review from a couple of weeks ago. She’s still on track for a December release, thank goodness… can’t wait to see her in person. :3 J-List still has her available for preorder if you’ve been on the fence. (no more)

Figure News: Yamato’s Guitar Girl Arisa and high kick Hakufu, Movic’s Matsu now on sale

According to their product listings, Yamato‘s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project sculpted [ERO] Guitar Girl Arisa and their [ERO] Story Image Figure Sonsaku Hakufu (high kick ver.) are both in stock and shipping now! Buying via these links is a great chance to pick them up if you haven’t snagged them via preorder yet, and you can support HD in the process. Akibajin blog is reporting today as well that Movic‘s Sekirei Matsu figure is now on store shelves (and just arrived here, in fact – expect a review later tonight or tomorrow morning). More whoredom / news below:

[ERO] Artbook Review: Toranoana-limited Official Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny Fan Book

Back when we scooped the release of this book two weeks ago it called out to me with the irresistible siren song of glorious 2D bishoujo ecchiness. Ensembles of doujin artists such as this don’t just grow on trees; they need to be coaxed and coerced to join forces by a power no less mighty than… well, the promise of a quick buck from Toranoana, which is no doubt what they received in return for services rendered. If you like Ikkitousen, doujinshi, scantily clad girls, or Ikkitousen doujinshi featuring scantily clad girls, you will certainly want to check this out.

Figure News: Alter’s Kanu Unchou, Reinforce Zwei up for preorder

We predicted in yesterday’s Miyazawa Model Exhibition news roundup that Kanu and Reinforce would be up for preorder soon, and WHAM – here they are! Moe Soul is the first up to the plate with the listings for both. Alter’s Kanu Unchou PVC figure from Ikkitousen is set for release in April 2008 at 7,140 yen and 1/8 scale (21.5 cm tall), with an age rating of 15+… this means castoff, right? Right? Reinforce Zwei from Nanoha is also up for an April release, non-scale (19 cm tall) and 6,090 yen retail. She’s also listed with a 15+ age rating, though I have no idea why… pictures below (Updated!):

[ERO] Figure Review: Orchid Seed’s Ryofu Housen (gothic lolita ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen

If it seems like we just reviewed an Orchid Seed Ikkitousen figure last month, that’s because we did. Ishiyama Satoshi has been churning them out fast and furious, giving fans of his signature style and hot Orchid castoff kits something to celebrate; how does his gothic lolita Ryofu stack up against the others, and against her competitors? Read on to find out!

[ERO] Figure News: Taki Corporation’s Ryomou Shimei PVC from Ikkitousen up for preorder

Amiami and Hobby Stock both represent today with the news that Taki Corporation‘s Ryomou Shimei PVC figure (first scooped here) is now available for preorder! As mentioned in our earlier coverage her maid outfit can be replaced by a bunny girl suit, and while there’s no visual evidence, based on the way her parts come together we can be sure that like Kanu before her she’s a full castoff job. She clocks in at 1/6 scale and is due out in late January at 9,240 yen retail; Amiami has a large gallery online for those contemplating the purchase. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato’s Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou PVC sample unveiled; all banged up?

Akiba Hobby represented last night with a review of a post-production PVC sample of Yamato‘s Cobra-Kai sculpted Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou figure from Ikkitousen. Overall production quality is looking great, but one possible cause for concern is what seems to be the thicket of bangs now covering her face. They were there in moderate profusion before, but now it looks like she’s staring out from the mouth of a blue-fanged Tyrannosaurus Rex with very bad orthodontics. Comparison shots below:

[ERO] Goods News: Toranoana-limited official Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny “fan book” up for preorder

Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny meets the stars of the doujin world in a 36 page, B5 size full color illustration compilation set for limited release from Toranoana, entitled the Ikkitousen DD Official Visual Fan Book. Featuring the likes of Mogudan, Kino Hitoshi, Eiwa, Azasuke, Same, and Maruto, it’s hard to imagine a higher profile collection of artists gathered to deliver their renditions of mangaka Shiozaki Yuuji’s iconic cast of characters. The volume is available for preorder from Toranoana now, with release expected on November 23rd at 1,050 yen. Those interested internationally will have to investigate proxy options as this is a Tora-only limited release. Sample images and further information below:

Figure News: Max Factory presents Feena Fam Earthlight, Comic Gum does black and white Cerberus Project Kanu

Goodsmile updated their official site today with news of two new figures coming in March of 2008! First up is a Max Factory rendition of Feena Fam Earthlight from August’s eroge Yoake Mae Yori Ruri-Iro na, who clocks in at 1/8 scale (20 cm tall) and 6,300 yen retail. More exciting (to me) is the news that the the third and final of this summer’s limited edition Cerberus Project Ikkitousen figures released by Comic Gum is seeing wide release: their French Doll sculpted [ERO] Kanu Unchou (black and white ver.) PVC is due out at 7,800 yen and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) in March as well. In a third bit of news from Goodsmile today, FREEing’s 1/4 scale Kyon’s sister PVC from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu has been announced for a February ’08 reissue. Update: Preorders for all three are now up at Amiami! [ERO] Castoff Kanu shot below:

[ERO] Goods News: Ikkitousen Treasure Limited Box uncensored

Just a quick note to mention that Getchu’s listing for the Ikkitousen Treasure Limited Box we scooped at the beginning of November contains an uncensored look at both the Hakufu bust and the Kanu oppai mousepad that come with the set. Preorders are open through December 2nd for those thinking of picking it up (Amazon and Mangaoh both have it available to international customers). Uncensored picture below:

[ERO] Figure News: Taki Corporation presents Ikkitousen’s Ryomou Shimei in full castoff

GA Graphic brings the scoop this evening that (in)famous rookie figure brand Taki Corporation will be producing a PVC figure of Ikkitousen‘s Ryomou Shimei that, like the rest of their lineup, is looking to be fully castoffable. Unlike Taki’s Kanu Unchou they’re not content to merely strip Ryomou down, providing her with a bunny suit and an alternate pair of legs to change into should she tire of her standard maid outfit. For those interested the figure clocks in at 1/6 scale (15.7 cm tall) and is scheduled to go on sale in January at 9,240 yen; while her production quality doesn’t look much better than what we’ve seen from Taki before I have to confess to being tempted by the prospect of a nekkid Ryomou adorning my shelf… Pilfered GA gallery below:

[ERO] Figure News: Griffon’s Kanu Unchou (LTD DX ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen up for preorder

Amiami put a preorder listing up this evening for Griffon‘s (R-Line‘s?) upcoming [ERO] Kanu Unchou (LTD DX ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen. This is a PVC version of an earlier released Griffon garage kit and is sculpted by Ikeda Ryouichi, clocking in at 1/7 scale and 6,825 yen retail. Unlike the original resin kit she comes complete with a “damage version” interchangeable shirt part, and is set for release in December; looks like a winner to me, and I hope Griffon decides to keep on converting their resins to PVCs like this. Edit: Y reminds us that this figure originally came out in PVC as a Hobby Japan mail order limited item earlier this year. It seems the only difference between the two versions (other than the additional damaged shirt part) is the green trim of her uniform blouse, and a bit more slippage up front. Amiami gallery reproduced below:

[ERO] Goods News: Wani Books presents “Ikkitousen Treasure Limited BOX Publication”, includes Hakufu bust and Kanu oppai mousepad

During a habitual run through 2chan’s mokeiura board this morning I noticed a most curious item that bore further investigation. It turns out that Wani Books, publishers of the Comic Gum manga anthology in which Ikkitousen is serialized, is producing what they’re calling an Ikkitousen Treasure Limited BOX Publication. It’s a …box, apparently, containing seven special limited edition items which are detailed below:

Goods Review: Ikkitousen’s Kanu Unchou and Ryomou Shimei dakimakura covers from Machi Chara

Entering a bit of new territory for HD this evening we take our first plunge into the world of hug pillow reviews! Tonight we take a look at the recently released Ryomou Shimei and Kanu Unchou offerings from Machi Chara, and I must say they’re quite well done. Being new to the pillow review thing this is a rather experimental post, though hopefully it will be of some use if you’re contemplating a purchase; those turned off by the concept of a body-length pillow with scantily clad 2D girls printed on it will probably not want to read past this point.

Figure News: Goodsmile / Comic Gum collaboration presents Ryomou Shimei PVC (pearl black ver.) from Ikkitousen

First scooped by HD last week, an official page is now online for Goodsmile / Comic Gum’s collaboration Ryomou Shimei (pearl black ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen! This is a wide release version of the magazine mail order limited blue version that came out this summer, and which was discussed earlier here. Sculpting duty was handled by French Doll of sculpting circle Cerberus Project, and she’s set for release in January of ’08 at 7,800 yen retail and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall). As remarked in the initial scoop I’d be happier to see her blue version in wide release instead of this black, but the chance to get her in any format is quite welcome. From the limited batch that came out over the summer we’re only waiting on an unlimited release for the Kanu now… With her up officially at Goodsmile preorders for Ryomou should commence shortly around the interweb shops. Figure News: December 2007 Hobby Japan presents Ikkitousen’s Ryomou in unlimited PVC from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

We’ve already covered most of the exciting news from this issue of Hobby Japan thanks to some early leaks (Cattleya in color and various Lineage II and Queen’s Blade items, etc.), but now that the magazine is officially on sale one final item caught my attention: Goodsmile and Comic Gum will be teaming up to bring this previously mail order only Ryomou Shimei PVC to us in full and wide release (though in an alternate color). Sculpted by French Doll of circle Cerberus Project, this black version of the original blue-trimmed kit is slated to go on sale in January of next year at 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) and 7,800 yen retail. Magazine scan below:

[ERO] Figure Review: Orchid Seed’s Kanu Unchou (strawberry milk ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen

After giving the first two incarnations of Orchid’s gothic lolita Kanu a miss I wasn’t originally planning to pick this one up, but an unexpectedly good deal called out to me and I couldn’t pass up on the chance to pick up another castoffable Kanu (I think I may be diseased in this regard). Here we are then with the third color variation of what is a decent sculpt, but one with a few production issues that Orchid has hopefully ironed out in their releases scheduled for the near future.

Figure Errata: a reckoning of recent Ikkitousen offerings from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

Originally written as a reply to this post, what follows is an attempt to sort out the mess that was the past year in Ikkitousen figure releases (from Goodsmile and Comic Gum alone). Hopefully those tracking Ikkitousen releases will find the following list useful (and will correct me if there are any inaccuracies):

Figure News: Comic Gum presents limited edition Ikkitousen trading figure set

Word is in from the Comic Gum manga website that in commemoration of the magazine’s 11th anniversary they’re releasing a mail-order only Ikkitousen trading figure set. The set consists of six figures plus bases which can be combined into one big diorama, and runs a cool 5,800 yen; procurement is via the typical “clip out the magazine insert” arrangement, and while no release window is specified I’m guessing we’re looking at somewhere between February and April of ’08. Normally I’d pass this sort of thing over as just another cheap attempt to score extra magazine sales at the expense of international fans (which it is), but I thought it was worth mentioning because sculpting duty is from Shiragami Takayuki, aka he of the twisted torso and the Shiranui Mai kit we reviewed awhile ago (Amiami search). With him at the helm we can expect some really funky, dynamic sculpts out of this set and it’s a damn shame it’s so limited… we’ll keep an eye out in the event an alternate wide release version is announced. (no more)

Figure News: preorder and limited edition miscellany

A few miscellaneous items now in preorder: Resinya’s Kushieda Minori from Toradora! (January release), Aizu Project’s Ryomou Shimei (gosurori ver.) cold cast from Ikkitousen (February release), Beat’s original Amaha Collection Wildcat Anna (December release), and Chrono Gate’s Murata Yukari from Rocket Girls (March release). In limited edition news, a Nitro+ online shop limited Kuro no Franco will be released with additional scarf, different facial expression and different colored underwear; a limited edition pink Konomi (maid ver.) is coming from Kotobukiya shops, and an Amiami-limited Wildcat Anna will be available in silver. Also in from Kotobukiya via Akiba Hobby is word that we’ll be seeing a Shining Wind Kureha from them sometime next year. (no more)

[ERO] Figure Review: Taki Corporation’s Kanu Unchou PVC from Ikkitousen

Taki Corporation is a maker very new to the PVC bishoujo figure business, and this Kanu was definitely a risky purchase in that regard. The prospect of the elusive full castoff proved too seductive to ignore, however, and I succumbed to her scantily-clad lure; in the end I pretty much got what I was expecting, a mediocre production job on a very sexy sculpt (if you ignore the Akagi chin). The lurid details are below:

Figure News: Goodsmile presents Comic Gum Figure Collection Sonsaku Hakufu (Cerberus Project black china dress ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen

This Cerberus Project sculpted Sonsaku Hakufu PVC figure was originally released earlier this year in a limited edition available for mail order via Comic Gum (the magazine in which the Ikkitousen manga is serialized). Word today from Goodsmile reveals that she’s to see a general release as well, this time in a black dress version; she’s 1/7 scale (28 cm tall with weapon equipped) and scheduled to retail in December at a price of 7,800 yen. I’m not incredibly interested in this Hakufu, but the fact that we’re seeing her in wide release gives me hope that the other two figures in this summer’s Comic Gum limited edition set will also see wide PVC release in some form – the Ryomou and Kanu look really nice. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Zenon presents Ikkitousen’s Ryomou Shimei in soft vinyl

Hobby shop Be-J has a listing up today for an ero-ero Ikkitousen soft vinyl Ryomou Shimei figure, scheduled for release from maker Zenon in November at 1/6 scale (29 cm tall) and 5,040 yen retail. The single sample image leaves many questions unanswered, and this is the first I’ve heard of the maker in question, so until we see more in the way of visual evidence I’m thinking this is a dangerous preorder proposition despite the reasonable price for the figure’s size. With offerings for My Otome and now Ikkitousen I wonder if we’re seeing the beginning of a soft vinyl bishoujo figure boom… (no more)
