Goodsmile updated their official site this morning with a product listing for FREEing‘s Kimidori Emiri bunny girl PVC figure from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (earlier HD coverage here). She’s scheduled for release in August at 11,800 yen retail, and along with the other releases in FREEing’s Haruhi bunny series she’s 1/4 scale (25 cm tall). As is also typical of the series the sculptor goes uncredited. Along with her listing at Goodsmile she’s now up for preorder at Amiami as well, so listings at other retailers should follow soon. July ’08 figure magazine postscript

Scans from Dengeki Hobby retrieved from 2chan’s mokeiura board yesterday evening report a few new interesting figure announcements: Goodsmile will be producing Unity Yuuno from Unisonshift Accent’s latest eroge project Unity Marriage. The sculpt is from Tokunaga Hironori, and she’s due out in “winter 2008” at 1/8 scale (20 cm tall), no price yet specified. The second item of note is a Diedrich Schultz (ディードリッヒ・シュルツ) figure from Eulenspiegel (オイレンシュピーゲル), a visual novel series illustrated by Hakua Ugetsu. Production is from Organic and the figure is due out in August at 1/8 scale; no further information is currently available. A Bulma (Dragonball) prize figure is also shown from Banpresto (out in June), along with a Nanoha Signum that can only be assumed to come from Atelier-Sai. The Bubba Yuki on the right is a mail-order kit promotion from Figure Maniax Otome-gumi, on sale June 10th. Images below:

12th Prize Fair shows Yoruichi, Miku, Petit Eva

The “12th Prize Fair” (sources aren’t saying whether it’s 12th annual or on some other timespan, we’ll look into this) was held today at the TOC Ariake convention facility in Tokyo. It showcased fall ’08 (October-December) prize releases from six manufacturers, among whom Banpresto and Sega each brought items of interest to the table: Banpresto showed a Yoruichi/Soifon pair from Bleach that I’m already coveting, a couple of new Pretty Cures, a Petit Eva series, a chibi SEED heroines set, and several others. Sega showed a Vocaloid lineup including Miku and Kagamine Rin, an SD Miku pair with music boxes that play Hoshi no Kakera and Ievan Polkka, some POP Alice in Wonderland vignettes, catgirl Rei and Asuka, and various others. Figure Review: Shuraki vol. 4 – Nida (Needa) Schuetlich

Volume four in the wildly popular series of Shuraki multimedia figures is in some respects a return to more familiar territory, as design duty for Nida was entrusted to the ubiquitous Yamashita Shunya. His designs have been adapted in figure form by just about every major PVC manufacturer in the past few years, but as the first Yamashita offering from Goodsmile there was curiosity regarding how the maker would handle the adaptation compared to those with longer track records. As we’ve come to expect with this series the result is very favorable indeed:

FREEing’s Tenko Kuugen preorder open

We first reported on the production of this androgynous fox spirit back in April, and saw our first color images last week – and now here she is (we’ll call her a she…) FREEing’s Tenko Kuugen from Wagaya no Oinari-sama. is now officially listed at Goodsmile, with a preorder open at Amiami as well.

Aoshima’s Kuuchuu Yousai Shinobu-chan preorder (updated)

Kotobukiya announces Clalaclan Noire

The Shining series figure blog updated this evening with the surprise announcement of a new color version of one of the greatest PVC figures Kotobukiya has ever produced, Shining Wind‘s Clalaclan. This alternate color version was designed and supervised by Tony himself, and is still a work in progress – the skin and hair color will be changed from the sample seen below, as will the base (whiter skin, darker base). Starting with Kureha the plastic they’re using for character skin is changing as well to be more transparent, so that will be a change from the previous version as well. According to the post, preorders for Clalaclan Noire will begin “very soon”. Sample images below:

Daiki’s Bakuten Sei, Asu no Yoichi Ibuki preorders open

Amiami’s evening update tonight included a couple of figures we’ve reported on here in past weeks: Daiki Kougyou’s Sei PVC bust from Bakuretsu Tenshi and Movic’s Hankyuu Ibuki from Asu no Yoichi!. Tackling Ibuki first: we reported on her preorder listing at Movic back on May 13th, and it wouldn’t bear repeating here but for the revelation of a surprise upper castoff (images below). As previously reported her sculpt is from Saitou Heel and she’s set for release in August at…. Movic says 1/8 scale and 19 cm, Amiami says 1/7 scale and 21 cm. Both report a retail price of 5,880 yen.

Daiki’s Sei bust was also the subject of earlier reporting when her official page went online, and details on this release have changed as well. The sculpt is still credited to Shiragami Takayuki (Yukishiro) and she’s still scheduled for release in October at 28 cm tall; the retail price however has been lowered from the initially reported 11,550 yen to 9,975 yen. That doesn’t happen too often… Pictures of both figures can be found below:

Ikkitousen news roundup

Monthly Comic Gum magazine is the home of the Ikkitousen manga, and yesterday its official site updated with a mountain of news covering virtually all aspects of the franchise – the upcoming Great Guardians anime, a new PSP game, and a crazy awesome new figure concept. Details below:

Great Guardians Kanu Unchou hug pillow

With the new “Great Guardians” season of Ikkitousen coming up this summer, items from the franchise have started switching from season 2’s “Dragon Destiny” subtitle to the new one (Max Factory’s Figma Kanu Unchou was perhaps the first). Another new item announced tonight is nominally under the Great Guardians banner: this Kanu Unchou hug pillow from goods maker Chara-Hai.

The pillow is scheduled to retail on July 25th (preorders close on July 4th), with dimensions of 150 x 50 cm, zipper attached, double-sided with an original illustration on each side. It retails at a variety of prices depending on configuration: the cheapest is 9,450 yen for the smooth-knit fabric version, case only, while two-way tricot is 1,050 more. Fabric explanations and pillow images below:

Griffon’s Uesugi Kenshin preorder open (updated)

Griffon’s epic Uesugi Kenshin kit from Sengoku Rance that got me all hot and bothered when she was first revealed at WHF Ariake 18 is as of Amiami’s evening update today available for preorder! She’s scheduled for release from Griffon’s ecchi R-Line brand in August, at 1/7 scale (31 cm tall), castoffable, in completed PVC form, with a sculpt from Ikeda Ryouichi. Along with the August release date the big news in tonight’s listing is the price: 10,290 yen retail. This is about what I was expecting, and well worth paying for the glorious bounty at hand: Update: color images now online and reproduced below:

Amiami updated at five o’clock sharp this evening with a preorder listing for Max Factory’s Kanu Unchou Figma action figure from Ikkitousen! She comes complete with several exchangeable parts, including three sets of faces and hands, her Reienkyo weapon, and “damaged clothing” parts. Figure images below:

Black hair Chichinoe+ reissue announced

Figure maker Orchid Seed updated their official site today with a listing for a black hair version reissue of their Chichinoe+ figure. Her specifications are identical to the original blond version released last year, with a sculpt from Ishiyama Satoshi, 1/6 scale (actually closer to 1/8 at 21 cm long), 6,800 yen retail, with release planned for August (expected in January or February of next year). The design is from the cover of Inoue Takuya’s Chichinoe+ artbook; further details are available at our review of the original release. Images below:

Arm your drills, ladies and gentlemen – Eye Up’s Kamina and Yoko

Formerly credited as a producer subcontracted to figure projects by other brands (notably Megahouse), today figure maker Eye Up announced the independent formation of its own eponymous figure brand with the unveiling of two items we’ve seen before in resin: Black Sabbath’s Kamina and Mesuka’s Yoko from Gainax giant robot anime Gurren Lagann. Kamina is scheduled for release in late August at 8,190 yen retail, 1/8 scale (26 cm tall), and comes with detachable cape and shades. Yoko is likewise 1/8 scale and 8,190 yen retail, 21 cm tall with release coming in September. Both are finished PVC models. Images below:

Hobby Japan July 2008 preview 2 (updated)

Further scans from Hobby Japan were uploaded to 2chan last night after I went to bed (initial HJ July ’08 scoop here). I’ll fill in the details as soon as possible, but for now the scans are reproduced below: Update: Most of the details are now up, including information on a wide release of the Shiragami Ikkitousen trading figure set, Asakura Ryouko and Vocaloid Rin/Len Nendoroids, Organic’s Kawazoe Tamaki, and more:

Limited edition Shizuka now in stock

Otherwise only available via mail order from Hobby Japan magazine, Alpha Omega’s Excellent Model CORE Queen’s Blade Shizuka (limited edition) is now in stock at Play-Asia. This is likely one of the few opportunities to obtain the figure without paying obscene markups at auction, so those interested who weren’t able to place preorders earlier have another chance now. She’s likely only available in very limited quantity, so quick action is advised if you don’t want to miss out.

Our review of the regular edition Shizuka can be found here. (no more)

A preorder listing went up this afternoon at Kotobukiya’s Rakuten online shop for a polystone bust statue version of Yamashita Shunya‘s Mirei-san character, earlier released in PVC (HD review here). Kotobukiya’s Niθ-designed Aile to see PVC release

Starting with her announcement last November we reported on the production of an original Niθ-designed “Aile” (アイル) garage kit under the auspices of Kotobukiya and the Plamo wo Tsukurou! CUSTOM TV show. It shaped up into a very nice kit, but we learned in February that she’d only be available in unpainted/unassembled resin form at Wonder Festival and that was the end of the story – until now. See below for more:

Alpha Omega’s Lala, Yami preorders open

Preorders aren’t quite in evidence yet, but Alpha Omega listed their To Love-Ru Lala Satalin Deviluke and Konjiki no Yami PVC figures on their official site over the noon hour today, so it’s only a matter of time. Both figures are confirmed for release in September at 6,615 yen retail and 1/8 scale (Lala is 24.5 cm tall and Yami is 20 cm tall). Lala’s sculpt is from Yagyuu Satoshi, while Yami’s is from Tanaka Senu; neither figure appears to be significantly castoffable but we’ll wait for definitive confirmation on that either way. Sculptor information is currently unknown, but with preorder listings expected elsewhere soon we’ll keep an eye out for further details. Update: The figure is now listed at the official To Love-Ru anime site, which provides a few more bits of information:

Kotobukiya’s Blanc Neige final prototype

The official Shining game series figure blog recently launched a parallel separate blog with identical content, and it’s there that the final pre-production prototype of Kotobukiya’s Shining Wind Blanc Neige PVC figure appeared this evening. This is the same version that was on display last week at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, and according to the blog post is the final amended version before she enters mass PVC production. We’ll be watching for full details when preorders open soon. Note that this is a different item from Kotobukiya’s earlier released Shining Tears Blanc Neige – she changes costumes between games. Figure Review: Shuraki vol. 3 – Char (Shall) Rhousemann

Our Shuraki figure review series continues in this third installment featuring French-themed villainess Char Rhousemann. The Shuraki frenzy that consumed figure fans through much of 2007 had cooled somewhat by the time she came out in January of this year, but with Needa recently released and Rize coming at the end of the month it’s high time to get back into the thick of things. Check out our Mishiro Akatsuki and Riu Meifeng reviews first (if you haven’t already, or need a refresher on what the Shuraki series is), and then continue the saga with our look at the contents of Char’s multimedia package:

Aoshima’s Funny Knights Shinobu-chan details

News from the Shizuoka Hobby Show is still trickling in, and Hobby Stock brings the goods tonight on the newest entry in hobby maker Aoshima‘s “Funny Knights” PVC series. Their Masterpiece of Kuuchuu Yousai Ninja no Shinobu-chan Mashiro no Bouken No. 01 Shinobu-chan (we’ll call her “Shinobu-chan”) is scheduled for release in July at 1/7 scale, 18 cm tall, with a retail price of 7,140 yen. The supposed source of the figure (“Ninja no Shinobu-chan Mashiro no Bouken”) doesn’t actually exist, and Shinobu-chan is an original character invented by Kuuchuu Yousai for figure incarnation here. The only information lacking from her description is the sculptor and castoff potential, but given the July release date we’ll be on the lookout for preorders to appear soon with the complete scoop.
