Hobby Figures Mugen in color!

The kind folks at Hobby Figures hooked us up with some new high-resolution images of their pre-painted Mugen cold cast figure from Samurai Champloo this morning that we’re happy to be able to present below. They also informed us that while not yet described on the official product page, Mugen will ship with magnets embedded in the arm and leg parts for optimum easy assembly. The kit retails in June at 1/8 scale (14.5 cm tall, 26 cm long) and features a sculpt from Takahashi Tsuyoshi (Ichigo Eiga Ippai Sake). Retail price is 12,800 yen, and the kit is a limited run of 2,000 pieces worldwide. High-resolution images below:

Hobby Figures official site online

The official site for Hong Kong-based figure maker Hobby Figures went online today! Content is available in both Japanese and English, and while it doesn’t present much information that we hadn’t already seen it does have a nice product page up for their Mugen release, as well as information on their Queen’s Blade PVC lineup – apparently the first figure will be Echidna, not Risty as we reported on the 17th, and she’s due out in October of this year. We’ll keep an eye on the page for further updates in the coming weeks and months. Edit: some time in the past few hours the page was edited to say that Risty will in fact be the first figure released in their Queen’s Blade series. I’m not sure what’s going on here, but hopefully this will be the final word on the matter. Edit 2: I just received confirmation from a Hobby Figures staff member that their first Queen’s Blade figure will in fact be Risty (“Listy”) as originally reported, and not Echidna. Looks like the matter can officially be put to rest. (no more)

Follow up on Hobby Figures’ Mugen, Queen’s Blade, etc.

French hobby news site Hobby-News has conducted an interview (in both French and English) with recently launched figure maker Hobby Figures regarding their upcoming Mugen figure as well as the brand’s plans for future development. The most tantalizing bit of information is that the first figure in their Queen’s Blade PVC lineup will be Risty, overlooked by Megahouse to the point where many of us had despaired of ever seeing her in PVC. All we know at this point is that her sculpt is from “a very famous sculptor” and that it’s in “it’s final stage”, so we’ll be looking for further news and visual evidence to appear soon! Thanks to Merlin of Hobby-News for the scoop. (no more)
