Griffon does Goth Punk Mikuru

Figure maker Griffon updated their official site yesterday with the news that they’ll be producing a “goth punk” version of Asahina Mikuru from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. She’s scheduled for release in October at 8,500 yen retail, 1/7 scale and 24.5 cm tall, with a sculpt from Yamamoto Masahiro. Preorders are up at Amiami as well as all the other usual suspects. Griffon’s R-Line announces school swimsuit Hakufu

Griffon’s ero figure sub-brand R-Line put up an official page this morning for a Sonsaku Hakufu (school swimsuit ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen. If the pose looks familiar that’s because she’s a variant of the earlier released gym uniform version; unlike her predecessor this new version does not appear significantly castoffable, though the school swimsuit does have a certain appeal all its own. She’s scheduled to retail at 6,500 yen in August, at 1/6 scale (closer to 1/7) and 13 cm tall with a sculpt from Yamamoto Masahiro. Figure images below:

Griffon does PVC plainclothes Ryofu, in red

Amiami’s evening update yesterday included a listing from Griffon’s ero R-Line brand for a new Ryofu Housen (plainclothes battle version) PVC from Ikkitousen. The kit was originally released in October of 2005 as an unpainted, unassembled resin figure (Amiami listing), but is being revived here in a new “red version” just in time for Ryofu’s resurrection in the new Great Guardians season of the Ikkitousen anime. She’s scheduled for release in late August at 1/6 scale (23 cm tall) and 6,825 yen retail, with a sculpt from Ikeda Ryouichi, and comes with a replaceable bare chest “damage version” part. Griffon’s Uesugi Kenshin preorder open (updated)

Griffon’s epic Uesugi Kenshin kit from Sengoku Rance that got me all hot and bothered when she was first revealed at WHF Ariake 18 is as of Amiami’s evening update today available for preorder! She’s scheduled for release from Griffon’s ecchi R-Line brand in August, at 1/7 scale (31 cm tall), castoffable, in completed PVC form, with a sculpt from Ikeda Ryouichi. Along with the August release date the big news in tonight’s listing is the price: 10,290 yen retail. This is about what I was expecting, and well worth paying for the glorious bounty at hand: Update: color images now online and reproduced below:

Griffon’s maid/school swimsuit Sasara in PVC

Hot on the heels of their nekomimi Kanu Griffon has announced the second PVC conversion of a resin kit they had for sale at the recent WHF Ariake 18, the Morikawa Hiroaki-sculpted Kusugawa Sasara (school swimsuit maid ver.) from To Heart 2. This PVC incarnation is scheduled for release in September at 6,720 yen retail and 1/7 scale (precise size undisclosed); this kit follows Griffon’s Maaryan-senpai as the second in their “To Heart 2 swimsuit series”. Griffon’s catgirl Kanu Unchou PVC preorder open

We speculated on the fate of Griffon’s catgirl Kanu Unchou (nominally from Ikkitousen) back when she was announced in resin just prior to WHF Ariake 18, but I didn’t expect a PVC incarnation to be announced nearly so fast. Griffon updated their official site today with precisely that: a listing complete with preorder for their Kanu Unchou (nekomimi ver.) PVC. She’s due out in August at 1/7 scale (11.5 cm tall), with a sculpt from Akiyama Akio and an 8,925 yen price tag. She’s accompanied by chibi Chouhi and Ryuubi mascots, and her skirt is almost definitely castoffable. Figure images below:

WHF Ariake 18: PVC maker galleries

Wrapping up the meat of our pictorial coverage of WHF Ariake 18, we take a look at the coming PVC and resin releases of professional makers present at the event. Includes uncensored looks at Yamato’s Animal Girl Bonnie and Daiki Kougyou’s Sugimoto Anna, a gallery of Musashiya’s castoff Ikkitousen cold casts, and Kurushima’s “swimsuit” Kanu resin, among others:

WHF Ariake 18: Industry News

In the interests of me getting some sleep tonight I’m going to confine this post to actual news, and leave images of already announced figures for a subsequent update. There wasn’t a huge amount of industry movement at the event, but the tidbits that came out are noteworthy nonetheless:

Griffon goes nekomimi Kanu at WHF Ariake 18

I thought Griffon’s WHF Ariake 18 lineup was complete with their listing a few days back, but it seems such musings were premature – last night they unveiled a nekomimi-clad Kanu Unchou resin kit from Ikkitousen that will be making its sales debut at the event. The kit is an unpainted/unassembled resin cast kit with a total of 42 parts, 1/7 scale (11.5 cm tall), with a sculpt from Akiyama Akio (previous work includes this Hakufu cold cast from Griffon’s R-Line brand). The kit includes chibi versions of Chouhi Ekitoku and Ryuubi Gentoku, and it seems clear that the skirt part (at least) is removable. Griffon will be bringing 70 copies of the kit to the event, where it will retail for 8,800 yen; no word of mass production as a finished kit has been announced, but this is one we’ll be keeping a sharp eye out with the hope of seeing a cold cast or PVC version announced soon. Griffon PVC announcements, event news

Figure maker Griffon updated last night with several bits of interesting news, including two new PVC figure listings and announcements of what they’ll have for sale and on display at World Hobby Festival Ariake 18. The newly announced PVCs are finished model renditions of two resin kits we’ve covered here in the past: the Harada Takehito interpretations of Demonbane‘s Al Ajif and Fate/stay night’s Saber. Both are scheduled for release in August at 5,775 yen retail (tax included), non-scale (15 cm tall), with Al Ajif’s sculpt from Yoshino Atsushi and Saber’s sculpt from Katou Taichi. Both figures are currently available for preorder on Griffon’s official site, and should be listed elsewhere soon. Event news and images below:

Griffon presents Maaryan-senpai (school swimsuit uniform ver.)

Figure maker Griffon updated yesterday evening with a listing for a new PVC incarnation of Maaryan-senpai from Aquaplus bishoujo game franchise To Heart 2. This “sukumizu seifuku” version is scheduled to retail in August at 6,720 yen, 1/7 scale (23 cm tall) with a sculpt from Morikawa Hiroaki and comes with (presumably) detachable skirt and a discarded pair of panties. Preorders are currently open at Griffon’s site and will be elsewhere soon as well, presumably. Kit images below:

Figure News: Griffon’s gothic lolita Haruhi, Yamato’s Doubutsu Nee-chan Inu Anne-Rose unveiled

Two pieces of news on the PVC front this evening: first is word from Griffon that their gothic lolita Haruhi kit from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is scheduled for release in PVC. She’s 1/7 scale with a retail price of 7,500 yen, and currently without a release date specified; currently only Griffon has her available for preorder on their site but presumably other retailers will carry her as well. Sculpt from Yamamoto Masahiro. Next, word is in from Yamato that the alternate color version of Aruma we’ve seen lurking around for a month or so is dubbed Anne-Rose, and will see release in April of next year at 7.140 yen and 30 cm tall (1/6 scale?). Sculpt is from Tandem Twin, and preorders are expected shortly. (no more)

Figure News: limited edition black uniform version of Alter’s Kanu coming from Hobby Channel, etc.

Some bits of figure news coming over the desk from yesterday evening: first is news that Hobby Japan’s online arm Hobby Channel will be offering a 700-piece limited edition run of a black school uniform variant of Alter’s Kanu Unchou PVC from Ikkitousen. She’s set for release in April at specs similar to her regular edition counterpart (1/8 scale, 21.5 cm tall, 7,140 yen) and preorders open at the Hobby Japan online shop on January 7th. See below for more news:

[ERO] Figure News: Griffon’s Kanu Unchou (LTD DX ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen up for preorder

Amiami put a preorder listing up this evening for Griffon‘s (R-Line‘s?) upcoming [ERO] Kanu Unchou (LTD DX ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen. This is a PVC version of an earlier released Griffon garage kit and is sculpted by Ikeda Ryouichi, clocking in at 1/7 scale and 6,825 yen retail. Unlike the original resin kit she comes complete with a “damage version” interchangeable shirt part, and is set for release in December; looks like a winner to me, and I hope Griffon decides to keep on converting their resins to PVCs like this. Edit: Y reminds us that this figure originally came out in PVC as a Hobby Japan mail order limited item earlier this year. It seems the only difference between the two versions (other than the additional damaged shirt part) is the green trim of her uniform blouse, and a bit more slippage up front. Figure News: Griffon presents a shark-toting Plenair-san PVC, splits off ecchi “R-Line”

Word in from Griffon last night that they’re producing a Harada Takehito designed Plenair-san (shark toting ver.) PVC figure. She clocks in at 17 cm tall (non- scale) with a sculpt from Katou Taichi, and is set for release in December at 5,040 yen, with preorders open on now on the official site and elsewhere soon. In other Griffon news, the brand has spun off its more risque figures onto a separate [ERO] R-Line site. Same company, new distinct brand identity; here’s hoping this means more ero-ero PVCs from them in the future. (no more)
