Cospa does Tifania dakimakura, Kanokon towels

Following the announcement last week of a similar item from Chara Hai, preorders went online yesterday for a Tifania hug pillow from Cospa and Zero no Tsukaima 3. Like other pillowcases in Cospa’s lineup this one retails at 9,450 yen and 150 x 50 cm in size, double-sided with original illustrations on both sides. Release is expected in late August.

Listings also went up for reissues of a few other Zero no Tsukaima items from Cospa, as well as a new lineup of Kanokon goods including a Chizuru towel (bikini ver.), Nozomu towel (white shirt/bloomers ver.), and Chizuru cushion cover. All three are due out in late July. Images below:

Zero no Tsukaima Tifania dakimakura announced

Character goods maker Chara Hai updated this evening with listings for a Tifania hug pillowcase from Zero no Tsukaima (officially from this summer’s third season, Princesse no Rondo). The case is scheduled for release on August 25th with preorders open until August 4th, and is double-sided with two pieces of original art and standard dakimakura dimensions of 150×50 cm. Like previous Chara Hai releases Tifania is available in two choices of cloth: smooth knit (9,500 yen retail) and two-way tricot (10,500 yen retail). Explanations of the differences in pillow fabric can be found here. Tifania pillow images below:

Sekirei Musubi, Tsukiumi hug pillow announced

A preorder listing went up at Chara-Ani yesterday for a Musubi and Tsukiumi dakimakura from the anime version of Sekirei. Images of the product weren’t initially available, but today the listing was updated and we now have a look at what’s being offered. The pillow features images of Musubi and Tsukiumi that appear here for the first time, but also on other items as well (oppai mousepads and telephone cards); pillow dimensions are unknown, but appear to be different from standard dakimakura size. Preorders are open until June 14th for the pillowcase, which retails on July 17th at 7,140 yen. Images below:

Great Guardians Kanu Unchou hug pillow

With the new “Great Guardians” season of Ikkitousen coming up this summer, items from the franchise have started switching from season 2’s “Dragon Destiny” subtitle to the new one (Max Factory’s Figma Kanu Unchou was perhaps the first). Another new item announced tonight is nominally under the Great Guardians banner: this Kanu Unchou hug pillow from goods maker Chara-Hai.

The pillow is scheduled to retail on July 25th (preorders close on July 4th), with dimensions of 150 x 50 cm, zipper attached, double-sided with an original illustration on each side. It retails at a variety of prices depending on configuration: the cheapest is 9,450 yen for the smooth-knit fabric version, case only, while two-way tricot is 1,050 more. Fabric explanations and pillow images below:

Tamaki pillow, Chizuru bedsheet preorders open

Word is in this evening on two goods items of interest: first, the Kawazoe Tamaki pillowcase from Bamboo Blade that we scooped back on May 3rd is now available for preorder! It’s due out from Brain Police on July 20th at 150 cm x 55 cm in dimensions and features two original illustrations (kendo uniform and school swimsuit) created for the cover. Retail price is 9,240 yen.

Second, a newly announced item from the Kanokon franchise is this Chizuru bed sheet coming from Chara-Ani. It’s made of polyester suede and is sized 140×210 cm, is single-sided featuring an illustration of Chizuru topless (and mostly bottomless) bent over a desk, and is scheduled to retail in July at 8,400 yen retail. Images of both items below:

Asougi Rin, Yatsuhiro Nanaka hug pillows

Online shop Getchu updated this evening with preorder listings for two new hug pillowcases from goods maker Matching World / Machi Chara: Asougi Rin from Mnemosyne, and Yatsuhiro Nanaka from Myself; Yourself. Both pillowcases are double-sided and feature original character illustrations, are 150 x 50 cm in size and printed on “smooth knit” cotton/spandex blend fabric, with zipper fasteners attached. They both retail at 10,500 yen (case only) and are scheduled for release on June 27th. Images below:

Medio enters the dakimakura business

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Center: Based on user feedback solicited last September, online otaku goods shop Medio yesterday announced the first in what is to be a series of original dakimakura hug pillowcases from the brand: Ryouko-san no Moe Moe Haa Haa Dakimakura Cover. The case features original illustrations from Atelier Kaguya character designer Choco Chip of the popular Shirakawa Ryouko, who appeared in both the Anejiru and Nurse ni Omakase eroge. The pillowcase is double-sided, 160 x 50 cm in size, and is available for preorder now at 12,000 or 11,000 yen retail (depending on the fabric type desired). Release is expected on June 27th. Bamboo Blade Tamaki, Kanokon Chizuru hug pillows

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Center: Listings went online yesterday for a pair of dakimakura hug pillowcases from two recently popular anime franchises. First is the Brain Police announcement of a Kawazoe Tamaki pillowcase from Bamboo Blade. The case is 150 cm x 55 cm in dimensions and features two original illustrations (kendo uniform and school swimsuit) created for the cover. It’s expected to retail in mid-July at 9,240 yen (case only), with preorders opening in early May. The second dakimakura announcement is of Kanokon‘s Minamoto Chizuru, with a case coming from Chara High. It’s expected for release on June 25th at 10,500 yen (case only; preorder by June 5th for 1,000 yen off) and is available for preorder now. Pillowcase dimensions are 150 x 50 cm, featuring two original illustrations of Chizuru in various states of undress. Neither item is expected to appear via standard international retail channels, so it seems that proxy buying may be the only option for those outside Japan. Pillow images below:

Goods Review: Ikkitousen Limited Treasure Box

When we first reported on this item back in November I was a bit skeptical as to how it would turn out; it seemed like a bunch of expensive knick-knacks worth less than the sum of its parts, little more than an attempt to sucker Ikkitousen fans like myself into parting with our hard-earned cash without providing much in return. After having the chance to peruse my copy in person my opinion has not changed, but as both a sucker and an Ikkitousen fan I have to say I’m happy with the result, and would appreciate being pandered to in a similar fashion by other shows in the future (Sekirei, I’m looking at you). Read on for a textbook primer on how to be swindled in style:

Beat Blades Haruka hug pillow from Cospa

Haven’t had enough news from the franchise of Alice Soft’s latest eroge tour de force? Then you’re in luck, as character goods maker Nijigen Cospa last night announced the preorder availability of a Takamori Haruka dakimakura cover from Beat Blades Haruka / Choukou Sennin Haruka. The pillowcase is scheduled for release at the end of May at 9,450 yen retail (case only), with dimensions of 150 cm x 50 cm and double-sided illustrations. The art featured on the pillow is not original (it’s take from in-game images), though according to the Cospa listing the combat uniform side has been “revised for greater sexiness”. With her up for preorder at Cospa’s official site preorders should be open at other Cospa distributors such as CDJapan
and Hobby Search soon. Pillow images below:

New hug pillows from Machi Chara

Character goods maker Machi Chara updated their official site yesterday with preorder listings for three new dakimakura pillowcases from two anime franchises: Fel from Prism Ark, and Akabane Kureha and Himuro Akari from Night Wizard. All three items are scheduled for release on May 30th at 10,500 yen (case only), with standard dimensions of 150 cm x 50 cm. Because Machi Chara distributes their items wholesale, listings for all three should begin to appear shortly at other online retail outlets including Hobby Search. Pillow images below:

Character goods news roundup

A rundown of 2D character news from the various corners of the ‘net as collected over the past week, including the world’s first lactating hug pillow (real milk not included), a Kotonoha contoured breast mousepad from School Days with an expression on her face that will drive you to drink, a “photo book” featuring Gurren Lagann’s Yoko, pictures of the Kousaka Tamaki mousepad coming with Dengeki G’s Festival Deluxe vol. 2, the March hug pillow lineup from Machi Chara (features Clannad and Touka Gettan), and a set of simulated bubble wrap toys that intersperse popping sounds with moe character voices provided by Kugimiya Rie.

Goods News: Dengeki G’s Festival Deluxe vol. 2 comes with TH2 pillowcase, contoured mousepad

According to the product entry recently created for it at Mangaoh, Dengeki G’s Festival Deluxe vol. 2 will come with some awesome extras: first is a Kouno Harumi dakimakura cover, one of the heroines of To Heart 2: Another Days. It’s single-sided, features an original illustration, and is 50 x 155 cm in size. Second is a Kousaka Tamaki “contoured breast” (oppai) mousepad, featuring another original illustration; and finally a Yamada Michiru / Yoshioka Chie cellphone cleaner and strap. All this (along with the magazine itself) comes at a mere 3,500 yen, to be released on February 21st – this is sure to be a highly prized item, so order while you can! Mangaoh accepts international orders, and it should be listed at Amazon.co.jp soon as well. Images below:

[ERO] Goods News: Tony-illustrated C73 dakimakura gets mail order release from Toranoana

In a reprise of past events, Toranoana will once again be carrying the Taka Tony-designed hug pillow that he released at Comiket 73. It features a unique (to my knowlege) four-character design layout, two per side, with all original art from the famous doujin artist and designer of Shining Wind, Shining Tears, and several Ciel games. Preorders for the pillowcase will be open from January 25th through February 11th, with the item scheduled to ship in mid-March; it’s 160 x 45 cm in size and retails at 6,300 yen (case only), a good deal cheaper than many similar items, though those looking to purchase from outside Japan will need to use a proxy. Goods News: Ikkitousen’s Sonsaku Hakufu dakimakura coming from Chara Hai

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Institute: recently established character goods shop Chara Hai put up a listing yesterday for a Sonsaku Hakufu hug pillow cover from Ikkitousen. The pillow is up for preorder through February 15th with release expected on March 15th, at a 9,450 yen preorder price point (case only). It weighs in at 150 x 50 cm, with original art on both sides;
not much is known about Chara Hai at this point so it’s hard to say whether international retailers will be able to stock this item, but given that the shop seems to otherwise stock items exclusively from Machi Chara it seems there may be an arrangement between the two that might allow for the use of similar distribution channels. Goods News: Zero no Tsukaima Tabitha dakimakura coming from Nijigen Cospa

This in for the 0nT fans: Nijigen Cospa updated over the weekend with a product listing for a Tabitha hug pillow from Zero no Tsukaima. The dakimakura features double-sided original illustrations and is due out in March at 150 x 50 cm and 9,450 yen (case only); in addition to the Cospa listing preorders are up at Amiami, and should be up at Hobby Search and other international dealers soon. Goods News: Genshiken to be novelized

Thanks to SDS for the heads up on this: according to the recently updated Genshiken anime site, the tale of otaku life and love in a college “modern visual culture” club is set to receive novel treatment. Writing duty for the book’s original story has been passed to Iida Kazutoshi, director of independent game maker Artdink whose past work includes Doshin the Giant and Aquanaut’s Holiday. I’m not sure how this qualifies him to pen a Genshiken novel, but perhaps designing quirky niche games grants one mystical powers… the book is entitled Hainyuu Ranjin no Yabou ~Return of the OTAKU~ and is scheduled for release from Kodansha on January 23rd at 940 yen; the first part of the name translates roughly as “the ambition/treachery of the Dutch pilgrims”, which makes absolutely no sense to me at this point but will hopefully be clarified in due time. Shimoku Kio seems to have given the project his blessing, so I’ll probably pick the book up to see what all the fuss is about… (no more)

Goods News: Doujin Work Tsuyuri, Sora dakimakura coming from Machi Chara

Word is in from Comptiq, Dengeki, and the official Machi Chara website tonight that two of the heroines of anime and manga Doujin Work are headed for hug pillowization! Tsururi and Sora both feature double sided original illustrations at 150 x 50 cm and 10,500 yen retail (case only), and are set for release on February 29th. As with other Machi Chara (Matching World) items these will be available internationally via Hobby Search and other retailers within the next few days. Images below:

Goods News: School Days’ Kotonoha and Sekai, Prism Ark’s Sister Hell dakimakura coming from Machi Chara

Character goods maker Machi Chara updated their official site last night with the news of three new hug pillows coming in their production lineup: first are the ever-popular Sekai and Kotonoha-sama from School Days, both of whom will go on sale January 31st with double-sided original illustrations, 150 x 50 cm and a retail price of 10,500 yen (pillowcase only). Prism Ark‘s Sister Hell dakimakura has similar specifications, with release scheduled for February 29th (oh hay, next year is a leap year isn’t it). Like all other Machi Chara pillows these three should be available for preorder internationally at Hobby Search, and I’m guessing J-List may stock them as well. Pillow images below:

Artbook Review: UNO! ~ Uno Makoto Artworks

Former god of futanari doujinshi, current god of anime character design Uno Makoto presents his first compiled volume of illustrations in the newly released UNO! artbook. When the news first came to us at the beginning of November I was overjoyed at the prospect of getting a book that would include not only his past material but also work on the currently airing Dragonaut series; with its pretense to comprehensiveness I was hoping that this would be a volume similar in scope to other artbooks we’ve recently reviewed here, but after looking it over I’m sorry to report decidedly mixed results:

Goods News: Sky Girls dakimakura coming from Machi Chara

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Institute: Word is in from character goods shop Machi Chara that they are producing a pair of hug pillows based on characters from the Sky Girls anime: Sakurano Otoha and Ichijou Eika. Original designs are from Shimada Fumikane, though the pillow artwork is not (possibly from anime character designer Iwakura Kazunori?). Both pillows are double-sided, zipper equipped and made from standard “smooth knit” polyester, and are scheduled for release on January 31st, 2008 at 150 x 50 cm and 10,500 yen retail (pillowcase only). Machi Chara pillows are stocked by several international retailers including Hobby Search, and these should be up for preorder soon; pillow images below:

[ERO] Artbook Review: Velvet Skin ~ INO Art Works

When word first came down that a compilation of INO‘s work was in the pipeline I was ecstatic. The reclusive artist who has gone without a website update for over four years was finally reaching out to his fans! As the book’s content was gradually revealed it became clear that it would be an epic tome indeed; just what is in store in this treasure trove that contains much of the master eroge artist’s life work? Read on to find out:

Goods News: Vocaloid2 Kagamine Rin gets a twin

Word in today from the official Crypton blog that voice synthesizer software Vocaloid2 #02 Kagamine Rin, voice sampled by Shimoda Asami, will be released as not one but two separate characters in the same package. Rin is being joined by “Len”, her twin brother (?), who is specced for a slightly deeper voice at slower BPM. Release is still scheduled for late December of this year, at a price similar to Miku‘s 15,750 yen retail. Could this gimmick give the pair the boost they need to equal Miku‘s explosive popularity? We’ll keep an eye on this. (no more)

[ERO] Goods Review: Toranoana’s Purichichi “enhanced chest” dakimakura #01 Shiratori Amane

Ever since she was first announced at the tail end of May I’ve been following Toranoana’s maiden voyage into the world of augmented hug pillows with an all-consuming curiosity that is certainly not the mark of a completely sound mind. We tracked her from the introduction of her first color sample through her preorder, to her sale date and shipment, and ultimately to her final destination on my doorstep this evening. Read on for the details of an item that marks a milepost in the development of Japan’s maniac 2D culture!

Goods News: Hatsune Miku dakimakura up for preorder

No one can resist the temptation to make a quick buck off of virtual idol sensation Hatsune Miku these days, and goods maker Frontier Works is the latest to jump on the pile with the announcement of their Hatsune Miku hug pillow cover now up for preorder from Animate’s online shop. She’s scheduled for release in mid-January at 10,000 yen (case only) and the rather large size of 170 x 60 cm, with both sides featuring original illustrations by Miku character designer KEI. Not a particularly ero item, but given Miku’s cult status these days I’m guessing this will sell like hotcakes… Animate’s shop does not accept international orders, so a proxy service is likely your best option should you wish to procure her. Cover images below:

[ERO] Goods News: INO artbook Velvet Skin now on sale

A quick note that INO Art Works: Velvet Skin went on sale on the 17th as planned, and is in stock and shipping now from wherever fine artbooks are sold (HD has an Amazon affiliate but that’s neither here nor there). I won’t be receiving my copy until the 30th, though I plan to get a review up as soon as possible once it does come in; in the mean time our creator spotlight on the artist is here. An official Core Magazine preview of the book is now online as well, thanks to H-Gurl for spotting it! (no more)

[ERO] Goods News: Kodomo no Jikan’s Kokonoe Rin comes to Comiket 73 in a snow globe

Word is in from Amiami this evening that Pink Company, purveyors of many odd character goods, will be releasing a Kokonoe Rin snow globe on December 29th, 2007 (the first day of Comic Market 73). The item is based on the frontspiece illustration of chapter 17 of the Kodomo no Jikan manga, featuring Rin clad in her birthday suit and scarf in front of a Christmas tree and surrounded by falling snowflakes. The spirit of the season indeed! Clocking in at 10 cm tall and 2,500 yen retail, in addition to its availability for preorder from Amiami the item is expected to go on sale at Pink Co.’s Comiket booth; other than these two locations availability is uncertain, so a proxy order may be advised for those interested internationally. Pictures follow:

Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny meets the stars of the doujin world in a 36 page, B5 size full color illustration compilation set for limited release from Toranoana, entitled the Ikkitousen DD Official Visual Fan Book. Featuring the likes of Mogudan, Kino Hitoshi, Eiwa, Azasuke, Same, and Maruto, it’s hard to imagine a higher profile collection of artists gathered to deliver their renditions of mangaka Shiozaki Yuuji’s iconic cast of characters. The volume is available for preorder from Toranoana now, with release expected on November 23rd at 1,050 yen. Those interested internationally will have to investigate proxy options as this is a Tora-only limited release. Sample images and further information below:

Goods News: Yoko (Space Look x Yomako ver.) dakimakura cover coming from Cospa

Via the Dakimakura Integrated Research Institute: Word is in from 2D goods maker Nijigen Cospa that they’ll be producing a second hug pillowcase featuring Yoko, heroine of Gainax’s Gurren Lagann TV anime (we scooped the first one back in July). This new version features images of her as she appears later in the show, in what Cospa calls her “space look” and her “Yomako” look respectively (wonder where they got the idea for Yomako?). The case is now available for preorder at Cospa, with release scheduled for late January at 150×50 cm and 9,450 yen retail (case only). Picture below:
