Figure Review: UArt’s Cerberus Project Kanu Unchou

This French Doll (Cerberus Project) Kanu figure has a long history, starting life as a resin kit before moving last year to mail order limited PVC release and finally to full distribution in this alternate black and white color scheme. Like the Pearl Black Ryomou before her this kit is a glimpse back in time at French Doll’s craft before he fully matured as a sculptor, but nonetheless has so many charm points that I couldn’t pass her up – not to mention being the only castoffable entry in the Cerberus Ikkitousen lineup thus far. Read on for a look at how UArt managed with their latest PVC conversion:

Wafuudou Ganguten’s Kusugawa Sasara preorder open (updated)

Amazon does the honors this evening with the first preorder listing up for Wafuudou Ganguten’s Kusugawa Sasara PVC figure from To Heart 2. Wafuudou’s official site for the figure has been online for a little while now so we knew preorders were imminent; it seems shops were waiting until after Golden Week to make the listing, so now that things are back to business as usual we can expect listings to appear elsewhere shortly. She’s scheduled to retail in June at 6,980 yen (tax included), clocking in at 1/7 scale (19 cm tall), castoffable down to her lingerie and with a sculpt from Cerberus Project‘s Sunny Day. Update: image gallery below:

WHF Ariake 18: Industry News

In the interests of me getting some sleep tonight I’m going to confine this post to actual news, and leave images of already announced figures for a subsequent update. There wasn’t a huge amount of industry movement at the event, but the tidbits that came out are noteworthy nonetheless:

Figure Review: Wafuudou Ganguten’s Manyuu Chibusa

I was wavering on a preorder of Manyuu Chibusa for a few months after she was announced. I’d seen her recently at the Cerberus Project booth at Wonder Festival and WHF, and while I liked the design it was obvious she wasn’t castoffable, and seemed bereft of other worthwhile gimmicks. In the end I caved in, convinced that a character whose name literally means “magical breast” would be worth having – and boy, am I glad I fell prey to this pair. The salacious details of a very surprising figure follow:

Figure Review: Ryomou Shimei (Cerberus Project pearl black ver.)

When French Doll’s Ryomou was first announced for PVC conversion last year I was psyched to have the chance to own a classic Cerberus Project kit without going to the trouble of painting it myself. I missed the deadline for the Comic Gum mail order edition though, and was thus even happier to hear that she would be reissued in this alternate “pearl black” color scheme. While I would’ve prefered the original colors, the chance to own a kit like this could not be passed up, so I bit the bullet and put in an order. Was she worth the trouble? You make the call:

Figure News: Cerberus Project Sasara, Manaka coming in PVC from Wafuudou Ganguten

Fresh from the pages of April’s Tech Gian magazine (on sale today) is the news that the Sunny Day (Cerberus Project) sculpted Komaki Manaka and Kusugawa Sasara from To Heart 2 are coming in PVC from Wafuudou Ganguten! Both kits are castoffable down to their lingerie (in the original resin versions at least, and likely in the PVC as well), and both clock in at ~19 cm tall, are listed at 1/7 scale, and both will retail at 6,640 yen – Manaka in May, and Sasara in June. Crappy magazine scan below:

Figure Review: Art Storm/Lilics’ Mizuka from Sengoku Cannon

It’s been awhile since we last saw the PVC incarnation of a kit based on a Sengoku-series character, so I was excited when the PVC version of this Cerberus Project Sunny Day Mizuka was announced on Goodsmile’s website last year. While some at the time found her expression ghoulish I really liked the radiant energy I saw pouring out of the resin prototype and placed an order primarily for that reason. Several months later I can report that the finished version came out decidedly mixed, and more than a little zombified, sadly – read on for details:

December 21st 2007 figure news roundup (updated)

A whole lot of action on the figure front to sum up today, including a continuation of Cerberus Project’s collaboration with Wafuudou Ganguten, a faux trap figure from Toy’sworks that’s almost Bridgetlicious, a bunny Haruhi + guitar prize figure, a review of the Haruhi itasha model first seen back at the Miyazawa Model exhibition, a step-by-step tour through a Nakoruru castoff, a couple of new angles on Alter’s Kanu, and a Keumaya update. Check it out! Update: Keumaya’s new items up at Toranoana, Revoltech Fraeulein Asuka and Play Stationery Rin up for preorder!

[ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project (Sunny Day) sculpted, Creators’ Labo CL#014 Guitar Girl Arisa PVC

Cerberus Project’s guitar girl Arisa is a kit I’d been lusting after since I first saw her in resin at Wonder Festival Winter 2006, so when news came last July that Yamato was going to produce a PVC rendition of her the extent of my chortling glee can scarcely be underestimated. I’ve been in high tension mode ever since, wondering just how Yamato would treat her – fears that I am very happy to say were largely needless. Read on for a look at what turns out to be one of the loveliest kits of the year.

Figure News: Max Factory presents Feena Fam Earthlight, Comic Gum does black and white Cerberus Project Kanu

Goodsmile updated their official site today with news of two new figures coming in March of 2008! First up is a Max Factory rendition of Feena Fam Earthlight from August’s eroge Yoake Mae Yori Ruri-Iro na, who clocks in at 1/8 scale (20 cm tall) and 6,300 yen retail. More exciting (to me) is the news that the the third and final of this summer’s limited edition Cerberus Project Ikkitousen figures released by Comic Gum is seeing wide release: their French Doll sculpted [ERO] Kanu Unchou (black and white ver.) PVC is due out at 7,800 yen and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) in March as well. In a third bit of news from Goodsmile today, FREEing’s 1/4 scale Kyon’s sister PVC from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu has been announced for a February ’08 reissue. Update: Preorders for all three are now up at Amiami! [ERO] Castoff Kanu shot below:

[ERO] Figure News: Art Storm’s Nakoruru a possible castoff candidate?

First scooped here back in May, word came in from Goodsmile recently that Art Storm‘s Samurai Spirits Nakoruru PVC has been delayed from November to a December ’07 release. Rumors have surfaced this morning that a possible reason for the delay involves her castoffability (or lack thereof); the original G.O-sculpted Cerberus Project resin kit was an upper body castoff, and if Art Storm decides to preserve the original kit design (as has been the case with every other Cerberus Project resin-PVC conversion of which I am aware) this will be the first ever SNK game character to officially receive the PVC castoff treatment (again, to my knowledge; please correct me if I’m wrong). A sign of things to come? Color images of the Nakoruru castoff kit below:

Figure News: Art Storm presents Kyoudou Senna and Shion PVCs from Alice Soft’s Daibanchou ~ Big Bang Age

Pages appeared on the Goodsmile official site today for a pair of new PVC figures coming from Art Storm: Kyoudou Senna, sculpted by Cerberus Project‘s French Doll, and Shion, the work of Cerberus’s Sunny Day. Both are characters from the 2003 Alice Soft eroge Daibanchou, both are 1/7 scale (22 and 20 cm tall respectively), and both are due out in March of ’08 at 6,800 yen retail. Art Storm is reaching into Cerberus’s back catalog here with both of these first appearing in resin form at events in 2004 (Senna, Shion); both sculptors have since improved their craft considerably. Castoff status is unknown, but at least some removal options seem likely; preorders are up for both PVCs at Amiami already, and should appear elsewhere soon. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Yamato updates with guitar girl Arisa details

Figure maker Yamato put up a page on their official site today detailing the goodies that come in the box with their Creator’s Labo #014 Arisa PVC figure. Designed by the intrepid Yamashita Shunya and sculpted by Sunny Day of circle Cerberus Project, Yamato’s post gives a better look at the kit’s option parts including her blouse, garters, skirt, glasses, and guitar. It seems like they’re really putting a lot of effort into this one, and I can’t wait to see her in the flesh plastic… it seems I’m not the only one thinking this, as she’s sold out in preorder at Play Asia already (though still available at J-List). Release is expected later this month. (no more)

Figure News: Wafuudou Ganguten’s Cerberus Project basketball Tama-nee, Plenair & shark PVCs up for preorder

We scooped them here last month, and Hobby Stock today represents with the news that Wafuudou Ganguten‘s collaboration with Cerberus Project is again bearing fruit! Preorders are now open for Wafuudou’s G.O. sculpted Kousaka Tamaki (basketball ver.) PVC from To Heart 2 and the N.S Gun sculpted Plenair (shark ver.) PVC (Harada Takehito design), both of which are scheduled for release in January of 2008. Tama-nee clocks in at 1/7 scale (20 cm tall) and 6,980 yen, with Plenair at an identical scale and price (only 18 cm tall). With orders open at Hobby Stock they should be appearing elsewhere soon! [ERO] Figure Review: Wafuudou Ganguten’s original Halloween Girl PVC figure

When I first spotted this figure in the pages of Tech Gian last June I wasn’t quite convinced of her allure. After she was listed for preorder and a few more sample images began to surface however I realized that I’d be forced to trust my luck with Wafuudou yet again – the prospect of the combination of cute and ero from Nanao Naru and Cerberus Project was just too hard to ignore. She came in last night, just in time to ask the question: what would you do if Halloween girl said “Trick or Treat“?

Figure News: Goodsmile / Comic Gum collaboration presents Ryomou Shimei PVC (pearl black ver.) from Ikkitousen

First scooped by HD last week, an official page is now online for Goodsmile / Comic Gum’s collaboration Ryomou Shimei (pearl black ver.) PVC figure from Ikkitousen! This is a wide release version of the magazine mail order limited blue version that came out this summer, and which was discussed earlier here. Sculpting duty was handled by French Doll of sculpting circle Cerberus Project, and she’s set for release in January of ’08 at 7,800 yen retail and 1/7 scale (28 cm tall). As remarked in the initial scoop I’d be happier to see her blue version in wide release instead of this black, but the chance to get her in any format is quite welcome. From the limited batch that came out over the summer we’re only waiting on an unlimited release for the Kanu now… With her up officially at Goodsmile preorders for Ryomou should commence shortly around the interweb shops. Figure News: December 2007 Hobby Japan presents Ikkitousen’s Ryomou in unlimited PVC from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

We’ve already covered most of the exciting news from this issue of Hobby Japan thanks to some early leaks (Cattleya in color and various Lineage II and Queen’s Blade items, etc.), but now that the magazine is officially on sale one final item caught my attention: Goodsmile and Comic Gum will be teaming up to bring this previously mail order only Ryomou Shimei PVC to us in full and wide release (though in an alternate color). Sculpted by French Doll of circle Cerberus Project, this black version of the original blue-trimmed kit is slated to go on sale in January of next year at 1/7 scale (28 cm tall) and 7,800 yen retail. Figure News: Cerberus Project x Wafuudou Ganguten figure collaboration featured in Tech Gian, new PVC scoops

The December ’07 issue of Tech Gian magazine was released this past Sunday, complete with a feature on Enterbrain’s figure brand Wafuudou Ganguten and its recently formed alliance with Korean sculpting circle Cerberus Project. According to the article Wafuudou was introduced to Cerberus by Polygonia, a sculptor who has been a staple of the Wafuudou lineup for the past few years, and the introduction led to the release of Cerberus’s Princess Waltz Iris and Angela as well as the upcoming [ERO] Halloween Girl PVC. Wafuudou recently took a trip to Cerberus’s workshop in Seoul, and presents the exclusive scoop of two new PVC figures as well as several other Cerberus kits in the works – see below for details!

Figure Review: Wafuudou Ganguten’s Angela PVC from Princess Waltz

After the announcement of Cerberus Project‘s Princess Waltz Iris PVC figure from Wafuudou Ganguten last spring I hoped it was only a matter of time before their Angela would follow, and those expectations were rewarded back in June with the announcement of the PVCification of this wonderful kit. How does Wafuudou’s incarnation stack up against the original resin? Read on!

Figure News: odds and ends

A few preorders up yesterday that I didn’t have time to mention: Taisen Hot Gimmick 3 Digital Surfing Novia (wink & pink hair ver.) PVC coming from Art Storm in January (an alternate color version of the earlier released Novia PVC, sculpted by Cerberus Project); a really atrocious My Otome Ofuro trading figure set from Lilics (also on sale in January), and Moeru! Prowres no Susume Chikaraishi Hotaru vs. Chiha-tan Nigou German Suplex PVC figure set from Cafe Reo, due out in mid-December. I’m finding it hard to track down the source for that one, as Google only turns up the figure… if they make it into a series I could see future figures with definite potential, though I’m not sure how you’d display this one for optimal view. [ERO] Figure News: Yamato’s Cerberus Project sculpted, Yamashita Shunya designed guitar girl Arisa PVC confirmed as castoffable

Moeyo! Akibajin Blog has a sample review up today of the Creator’s Labo CL #014 Arisa PVC figure from Yamato that we’ve been following since the end of July, and it brings good tidings: her top has been crafted as a clean castoff. Leave it to Moeyo to be a tease with the censored shots as usual, but this confirmation hopefully means they’ll be paying attention to the appropriate details beneath her shirt. In other Arisa news, Yamato has a page up on their official site detailing her production with some nice Yamashita-illustrated details and close up shots of the kit. This release just keeps looking better and better… :3 You can support HD by preordering her at Play Asia or J-List. (no more)
