Nendoroid Kagamine Rin, Len preorders tomorrow

The official Goodsmile blog brought the news earlier today that their Nendoroid action figure Kagamine Rin and Len (of Vocaloid virtual idol fame) will be available for preorder starting tomorrow, June 4th. We’ve witnessed the development of their configuration from the first announcement of calls for fans to submit alternate face part designs, and today a final bit of news has emerged regarding the release – see below for details and images:

Figma Fate to include Zamber form

Max Factory’s action figure brand Figma updated their official blog over the noon hour today with the news that their Fate Testarossa action figure from Nanoha StrikerS will include her weapon Bardiche Assault’s (very, very large) Zamber form. Having not seen more than a couple of Nanoha episodes I can’t claim to understand the full significance of this, but it looks… like a really big sword (yeah, I’m clueless here). We’ll look for more production shots of this new Figma offering as her preorder nears. The blog post also confirms that we can expect Figma Nanoha and Figma Kyon to ship on May 24th. We’ll bring further news on the lineup as it comes in. (no more)

Revoltech Fraeulein Haruhi to come with Wii game (updated)

A Suzumiya Haruhi franchise Nintendo Wii game was announced to be in the works on the official Haruhi anime site as early as last year, but only a couple of days ago were the details confirmed – it’s a “story+dance sim”, scheduled for release within the year. Amazon already has a page up soliciting email addresses if you want to find out precisely when preorders open, as it seems this will be a hot item – not in the least because the special edition will be accompanied by a Revoltech Fraeulein Haruhi action figure, as reported today by official Revoltech Express blog. Unlike Kaiyodo’s earlier collaboration with Kadokawa in the release of Fate/stay night Realta Nua for the PS2, this Revoltech Haruhi will apparently be not just a bust but a full Fraeulein series figure. We’ll keep an eye out for further news on the project, especially any word of an individual release apart from the game.

Update: Famitsu has posted further details on the Haruhi Wii game, including images of the Fraeulein Revoltech Haruhi figure which are reproduced below:

Yamato lists VMF Ryomou Shimei action figure

Figma Mikuru, Itsuki preorders open: SOS-dan complete!

Goodsmile just updated their official site with product listings for Max Factory’s Figma action figure brand Asahina Mikuru (school uniform ver.) and Koizumi Itsuki (school uniform ver.) figures from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. As we reported earlier they’re scheduled for release in June at 2,500 yen each, with Mikuru at 13.5 cm tall and Itsuki at 15 cm tall (non-scale). Both come with a variety of face and hand configurations, and Itsuki comes with a “back sheet” (cardboard? cutout) of the SOS-dan’s clubroom, so you can recreate your own diorama scenes. Sculpting is from Masaki Apsy, and producion is from Max Factory; the pair completes the core SOS-dan lineup following the release of Nagato, Haruhi, and the announcement of Kyon. With these listings up at Goodsmile preorders are sure to follow shortly. Images below:

Figure Review: Goodsmile’s Nendoroid Hatsune Miku

Ever since Goodsmile’s Hatsune Miku Nendoroid was first revealed last November, the explosive popularity of this figure was a foregone conclusion. By simply taking the route of an already established net meme the figure practically advertised itself, and by the time it shipped two days ago had racked up over 50,000 preorders – ten times the number produced for the initial release of Shuraki Vol. 1. Does Miku live up to the hype? Read on to find out!

Pinky Nagato Yuki, Tsuruya-san preorders open

Pinky Street manufacturer Vance Project sent listings to retailers today for two new items in their P:Chara (Pinky Character) lineup: Nagato Yuki and Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. These are the third and four the Haruhi Pinkys to come from Vance, following Haruhi last February and Mikuru in March. Yuki comes with cardigan + school uniform and book, as well as removable glasses, witch’s hat, wand, and caped exchangeable body. Tsuruya comes in her school uniform as well, with alternate “culture festival” waitress uniform body, legs, and headband. Both are scheduled to retail in late May at 1,680 yen. Images below:

Fraeulein Revoltech Futami Mami preorder open

Kaiyodo’s Fraeulein Revoltech lineup continues with the preorder availability today of Futami Mami (regular gothic princess ver.) and Futami Mami (Friend Shop limited snow strawberry ver.) action figures from The Idolmaster. Both versions are scheduled for release on June 1st at 2,300 yen each, 15 cm tall (non-scale), with 18 points of articulation and 10 “revolver joints” used. Parts included are a policewoman’s hat, a cowbell, cat paws, “demon feet”, six hand configurations, and a display base. The only difference between the two figures is the color scheme, and both seem to be widely available (the snow strawberry version doesn’t seem particularly limited). Like all of the figures in the Fraeulein lineup, sculpting work is from Enoki Tomohide (Pumpkin King/eyewater). Images of both figure versions below:

Figma Nanoha, Kyon preorders open

Figure maker Goodsmile’s official site was updated today with listings for two new Figma action figures from Max Factory: Takamachi Nanoha (Barrier Jacket ver.) from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, and Kyon (school uniform ver.) from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. Nanoha comes with two faces, two bang configurations, various hand configurations, ball-joint twintails (!) and two Raising Heart settings: Accel mode and Buster mode. She retails in May at 2,800 yen and 13 cm tall (non-scale).

Kyon come with two faces, various hand configurations, “inner” (schoolwear) shoes in addition to the standard leather ones, as well as a “handy video camera”. He’s also due out in May, at 2,500 yen and 15 cm tall (non-scale). Both Nanoha and Kyon come with the standard Figma supporting arm bases. Images below:

Hatsune Miku Figma announced at TAF

While not primarily a figure event, a few makers set up shop at this weekend’s Tokyo International Anime Fair, Goodsmile included. The biggest new item announced today at their booth was a Figma Hatsune Miku action figure, from Crypton’s Vocaloid2 virtual idol line; we don’t know anything beyond the photos yet, but from the looks of it we’ve got another crazy hot item on our hands. Moeyo! Akibajin blog has a look as well, which also includes a color shot of Goodsmile’s 1/8 Hatsune Miku PVC that we scooped back at Wonder Festival. We’ll be on the lookout for further details on both figures as well as other figure fallout from TAF. (no more)

Figure News: Figma Saber, Haruhi preorders unleashed

Max Factory’s Figma action figure line was officially augmented yesterday with the unsealing for preorder of Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu) and Saber (Fate/stay night). We reported on the details of the release back on the 19th, but now both figures are officially available for preorder around the internets and have been flung inexorably along the trajectory that will lead to their April release – no doubt a dramatic one, if the Nagato Figma was any indication. To recap, April is the ETA for both figures and Haruhi is up for 2,500 yen, with Saber at 2,800. High-res images below:

Yamashita Shunya‘s Kaiyodo Revoltech Fraeulein Sweet Dreams cover girl Pocco action figure is now up for preorder at Play Asia! Japanese sites haven’t officially picked her up yet, but it seems Play Asia is hedging their bets that Kaiyodo will be able to stick to their production schedule of one Fraeulein per month starting on January first with Evangelion’s Rei. February and March will see Fate’s Tousaka Rin and Eva’s Asuka respectively, with Pocca coming in April; Rei retails at an introductory price of 2,000 yen with the other three clocking in at 2,300 each. We first found out about Pocca back at the Revoltech Expo on November 30th, and expect the Fraeulein lineup to continue with a couple of the Idolm@ster girls in spots five and six. See below for further details:

Figure News: Revoltech Expo preview (updated)

GA Graphic got a look inside the Tokyo Anime Center today where tomorrow’s Revoltech Expo will be held, and brings back a few preliminary scoops from the event: a Gurren Lagann Revoltech action figure is planned for May release, there is a Fist of the North Star series in the works, and a Revoltech Fraeulein Idolm@ster series is in production as well, with Amami Haruka due out in May and Futami Ami due out in June. We’ll be keeping an eye out for further bishoujo news from the event as it progresses tomorrow. Update: GA Graphic has posted a continuation of their coverage, showcasing the upcoming Fraeulein Revoltech line including the recently scooped Yamashita Shunya-designed POCCO (fourth in the series, due out on April 1st). Update 2: even more pictures can be found at the Akiba Hobby preview here. (no more)

Figure News: Yamashita Shunya meets Fraeulein Revoltech

Kaiyodo is holding a Revoltech Expo this Saturday, December 1st, from 11:00 – 19:00 o’clock in Akihabara’s Tokyo Anime Center. Admission is free, and the official Revoltech Blog has been hyping all the new Revoltech swag on they’ll have on display leading up to the event. Today they tipped their hand on one particularly delicious item, Fraeulein Revoltech vol. 04 Heppoko Onna Senshi Pokko (pictured on the lower right). Despite only having access to her rear at this point the design looks terribly familiar, and confirmation comes in the word that it is from the inimitable Yamashita Shunya. I’m not a tremendous fan of the recent boom in bishoujo action figures, but I’m definitely curious to see what this one is all about… we can expect further news come the event on Saturday. Update: Eggfoo notes in comments that the girl pictured is in fact the cover girl from Yamashita Shunya’s Sweet Dreams artbook. No wonder she looked so familiar… (no more)

Figure News: Max Factory’s Figma line comes alive, YUKI.N first in line for release

Word is in today from the official Figma site that Max Factory’s action figure line is finally entering production, with its first installment featuring Nagato Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. She’s set to go on sale on February 14th, 2008 at 2,500 yen and 13.5 cm tall; preorders and additional information will be revealed later on in November. In other bishoujo action figure news, the official Revoltech blog reminds us that preorders begin tomorrow for Ayanami Rei, the first in their Fraeulein lineup. They have a considerable lead on Max in the action figure department at this point, but it’ll be interesting to see how their bishoujo lines fare going head to head like this. (no more)

Figure News: Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Fraeulein action figure line heats up

Kaiyodo’s official Revoltech Express blog has been preaching the gospel of the brand’s new Fraeulein lineup of action figures for the past few days, introducing a prototype sculpt of Fraeulein #2 Tousaka Rin along with several pictures of Fraeulein #1 Ayanami Rei, including some rather wacky offerings today. Official information on the Ayanami release can be found in this entry, which pegs her at a January 1st, 2008 release at 2,000 yen (first lot limited, subsequent editions will be 2,200 yen). She’s 15 cm tall (~1/10 scale), with 18 points of articulation, 10 “revolver joints”, four alternate hands and the Lance of Longinus included. Apparently Kaiyodo is shooting for Fraeulein releases monthly on the first of each month; an ambitious production schedule, but great news for fans of bishoujo action figures. We’ll be keeping an eye out for preorders. (no more)

Figure News: Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Danboo (Danboard) action figure from Yotsubato! up for preorder

On the heels of the Revoltech Yotsuba release two days ago, Amiami brought word yesterday that Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Danboo action figure (romanized as “Danboard” on the official packaging) is now up for preorder! It’s scheduled for release on December 1st at 2,205 yen retail, and comes complete with battery powered light-up eyes and an exchangeable Miura-chan head. If you haven’t read the manga you’ll have no idea what this is, but rest assured that DANBOARD can compete in terms of awe inspiring power with any other robot in Revoltech’s lineup thus far. I’m somewhat tempted by this, if only as a surrogate for my own desires to dress up in cardboard boxes and clomp about town… (no more)
