Today’s Updates

Bit of a light news day today, so just some recommendations below if you’d like to support the site - including a run down of many of the figures we’ve reviewed recently that are still available for sale, as well as the pick of today’s batch of DLsite items:

Figure Review: Shuraki vol. 3 - Char (Shall) Rhousemann

Our Shuraki figure review series continues in this third installment featuring French-themed villainess Char Rhousemann. The Shuraki frenzy that consumed figure fans through much of 2007 had cooled somewhat by the time she came out in January of this year, but with Needa recently released and Rize coming at the end of the month it’s high time to get back into the thick of things. Check out our Mishiro Akatsuki and Riu Meifeng reviews first (if you haven’t already, or need a refresher on what the Shuraki series is), and then continue the saga with our look at the contents of Char’s multimedia package:

Mogudan to release new Ayanami doujinshi

Master illustrator and character designer of questionably proportioned heroines Mogudan is at it again! Having not produced a new doujinshi under his own name since Ayanami Dai Ikkai in the summer of 2006 it was thought that he may have vacated the scene entirely, but a homepage update today brings the news that after almost two years he’s back with another installment of his increasingly fantastically depicted Ayanami Rei series: Omake Hon Soushuuhen Sono 1. The book contains a compilation of work previously released as event-limited extras or in other limited edition formats, revised and edited from the original rough material, as well as several pages of all new original work. The total page count is unknown, but the book is scheduled for release on May 27th so we’ll look for more comprehensive information to appear in preorder listings soon.

As with similar doujin items this book will likely only be available internationally via proxy. Thanks to Faust for the tipoff on this! (no more)

Today’s Updates

It seems Moon Phase found some time this evening to make a short update, which yielded some great news you’ll find below along some other random items scavenged from the depths:

Aoshima’s Funny Knights Shinobu-chan details

News from the Shizuoka Hobby Show is still trickling in, and Hobby Stock brings the goods tonight on the newest entry in hobby maker Aoshima’s “Funny Knights” PVC series. Their Masterpiece of Kuuchuu Yousai Ninja no Shinobu-chan Mashiro no Bouken No. 01 Shinobu-chan (we’ll call her “Shinobu-chan”) is scheduled for release in July at 1/7 scale, 18 cm tall, with a retail price of 7,140 yen. The supposed source of the figure (”Ninja no Shinobu-chan Mashiro no Bouken”) doesn’t actually exist, and Shinobu-chan is an original character invented by Kuuchuu Yousai for figure incarnation here. The only information lacking from her description is the sculptor and castoff potential, but given the July release date we’ll be on the lookout for preorders to appear soon with the complete scoop. May 16th eroge release roundup

A light showing on the eroge front this weekend after last week’s complete lack of releases. The four games on the table today are all budget titles, with heroines ranging from kimono-clad katana wielding girls to housewives in bondage, to android maids and futanari cheerleaders - a surprisingly broad range for just four titles, and we’ve got the details below:

Ore no Yome #2 is Tsuyokiss’s Yashi Nagomi

Figure maker Pleasant Angels continues their recently launched Ore no Yome PVC series (begun with Koihime Musou’s Chouun, HD review pending) with the new listing today at Digitamin of Yashi Nagomi from Candy Soft’s genre-defining eroge Tsuyokiss. She’s scheduled for release in July at 6,090 yen and 1/8 scale (height unlisted), castoffable with a shirt made from “soft material”. Sculptor information is currently unknown. Note that the figure pictured below is the Irisawa limited version, not the standard color release:

Alpha Omega does To Love-Ru’s Lala

The official anime website for romantic comedy franchise To Love-Ru updated its goods section today with a listing for a new Lala Satalin Deviluke figure from Megahouse / Alter collaboration brand Alpha Omega. She’s scheduled for release in September at 1/8 scale and an as-yet undisclosed price, with a sculpt from Alter regular Yagyuu Satoshi. The single currently available figure image is below:

47th annual Shizuoka Hobby Show (updated)

The 47th Shizuoka Hobby Show begins today! While primarily oriented toward plamo kits, radio-controlled cars, train models and the like, the show also has a minor contingent of bishoujo figure representation as well (Kotobukiya has already announced a Kizaki Emi PVC from Kurogane no Linebarrels, set to retail at 6,090 yen - can’t tell anything else from that photo, alas). From the exhibitors’ list it seems Kotobukiya, Bandai, and Yujin are the ones to look out for; slim pickings, but we’ll update this post throughout the day with any news we find from the event. Update: a collected summary of Shizuoka Hobby Show coverage can be found below:

Figure Review: Food Girls Strawberry-chan

What are girls made of? If you said “sugar and spice and everything nice”, you wouldn’t be far off. If you said “food”, you’d be closer still. If you said “polyvinyl chloride, paint, artificial strawberry fragrance, and carcinogens”, you’d be talking about Cafe Reo’s Strawberry-chan, the first figure to be released based on designs from Okama’s Food Girls artbook and the first I’m aware of to use scent as a gimmick. Who could pass up a figure with such curious credentials? Certainly not me, resulting in the review you’re about to see:

Dokimajo 2 petit Nendoroids unveiled

We mentioned in passing back on April 3rd that the first lot limited edition release of “witch touching” game sequel Doki Doki Majo Shinpan 2 would be accompanied by a pair of Petit Nendoroid character figures, and thanks to Dengeki Hobby Web News we now have our first look at the completed items! See below for more:

Asougi Rin, Yatsuhiro Nanaka hug pillows

Online shop Getchu updated this evening with preorder listings for two new hug pillowcases from goods maker Matching World / Machi Chara: Asougi Rin from Mnemosyne, and Yatsuhiro Nanaka from Myself; Yourself. Both pillowcases are double-sided and feature original character illustrations, are 150 x 50 cm in size and printed on “smooth knit” cotton/spandex blend fabric, with zipper fasteners attached. They both retail at 10,500 yen (case only) and are scheduled for release on June 27th. Images below:

Tonko follows Menma to the Taki chopping block

Amiami’s evening update today included a preorder listing for a Cutey Tonko PVC figure from Ramen Tenshi Pretty Menma, the fictional eroge created to inhabit the second season of the Genshiken anime. She’s due out in late June at 23 cm tall (no scale specified, presumably 1/7) and 9,240 yen retail; as is usual for Taki no sculptor is specified either. From the gallery provided it seems she’s a full castoff. Tonko is one of the angels vying for the protagonist’s affections in Pretty Menma, and this listing follow’s Taki’s earlier announcement of Menma herself, also scheduled for June release. Gallery below:

Daiki Kougyou to adapt epic Bakuten Sei

Figure maker Daiki Kougyou updated their official site this evening with a listing for an extraordinary Sei PVC figure from Bakuretsu Tenshi (Burst Angel). This PVC conversion continues Daiki’s tradition of adapting epic kits that turned a lot of heads on the garage kit circuit, with Sei coming from veteran sculptor Shiragami Takayuki (Yukishiro) who debuted the kit in 2007 (see below for our shots from WF07 summer). Daiki’s PVC version is scheduled to retail in early October at 11,550 yen, 28 cm tall (scale unspecified) and completely pre-painted and assembled. Preorders were momentarily open at Daiki but seem to have closed for now; we’ll be watching closely for further preorder info that should be coming soon. Figure images below:

Orchid Seed’s May lineup delayed to June

In what has become the Orchid Seed company mantra over the past year or so, the figure maker today announced yet another production delay affecting the following figures scheduled for release this month: Edelweiss Fumie, Witchblade Shiori, and Ma ga Ochiru Yoru Sherrice. All three are now scheduled for release in June. The delays are blamed on “a third party”, but who knows where the real culprit is… we’ll keep tabs on any further information that may indicate June as the actual release window instead of just more wishful thinking. Volks announces Kagamine Rin, Len

Updates at the official Piapro and Volks blogs confirm the news that Vocaloid virtual idol series singing siblings Kagamine Rin and Len are scheduled for figure production. Details are not yet available, but it seems logical to assume that they’ll be made available in PVC on the same terms as Volks’s Miku (Volks shop limited release). We’ll keep an eye out for price, sculptor, and further release information. In other news from Volks, their PVC Choukou Sennin Haruka and Narika will be up for preorder on May 25th and June 25th respectively, with release scheduled for July and August. These are also both Volks shop limited so proxy buying may be necessary (damn you Volks!). (no more)

Toy’s Planning does To Heart 2’s Konomi

An update to the official Toy’s Planning blog this morning announced the production of a Yuzuhara Konomi PVC figure from To Heart 2. Details are scarce so far, but the post reveals that she’s the work of sculptor Onuma Yoshimasa of circle Country Girl. Release information is unknown and the photos provided are of the figure still undergoing revision, so we can expect some tweaks before the final production model is unveiled; we’ll be keeping an eye out for future news on this as well as information on the lethally cute To Heart 2 collection figures Toypla has in the works. In related news it seems their polystone Shukujo Kazumi figure reissue will ship on May 21st; I am sorely tempted… ;_; (no more)

Today’s Updates

See below for several other bits of news that didn’t quite make post status, including the Sekirei anime cast list, an eromanga to watch out for, and a figure that may have you washing your eyes out with soap:

Yamashita Shunya 2nd artbook announced

Online shop Getchu updated this evening with a product listing for an item that’s sure to turn a lot of heads: Yamashita Shunya’s newly announced second artbook, WILD FLOWER. This is the first visual collection of his work following the release of Sweet Dreams almost three years ago, and Getchu’s listing provides some tantalizing details: the book is the first print publication ever credited to figure maker Kotobukiya, with production from publisher Shinkigensha (know otherwise for their role playing sourcebooks and other geeky material). It’s scheduled for release on June 10th at 2,900 yen retail, A4 size, 128 pages and includes over 100 illustrations ranging from original work to figure designs and card game illustrations. Several sample images are presented, which are duplicated below:
