According to Moon Phase Diary, a second TV series of Fullmetal Alchemist will be announced on the dust jacket of the release of the 20th volume of the FMA manga tomorrow. According to information obtained by Moon Phase it is likely that the series will again be produced by Bones, with Irie Yasuhiro on directorial duty, and the story will continue as a faithful adaptation of events from the manga. The series is scheduled to last a year starting next April, and air at 5:00 PM Sundays on TBS/MBS stations in Japan. Those of us who are FMA fans can look for confirmation and further info to appear in the coming days! (no more)
Holy crapoly, maybe this would be a good time to actually start reading the manga
WOAH!!!

I’m curious about that too…how are they going to continue the storyline. My guess is that they’ll start with that Chinese influenced country? I’m hoping it will be just as good as the 1st series, but will Yasuhiro live up to Mizushima’s directorial style?

From what I understood, it’s not a second season to the existing (and finished) anime series, but an entirely new anime series (a bit like Hellsing OVAs?), based on the manga version of the storyline instead of a spinoff this time?
YAY!!!!*jumps up and down*

it’ll probably be more like the hellsing OVAs than a second season, by means of an entirely different series with amazingness.
LOL, I remember they leaked it at this year’s Anime Expo by mistake and denied it to no end.
I’m hoping it’s a continuation of the TV series and movie. After all, the mad scientist with the fission bomb is still running around in Weimar Germany. I’m also wanting an explanation why the dead in our world fuels alchemy in the FMA world.
There’s probably no explanation to our world’s souls fueling alchemy. It’s just something the animeverse-writers made up when they were running out of ideas and they had to make up some kind of ending, as they were not allowed to use the originally-planned ending of the manga (since it was still far from being finished). A situation like that is probably going to leave some illogical stuff to the plot.
