The two latest Queen’s Blade combat artbooks hit store shelves yesterday (Allean and Ardra), and with them the news that the Queen’s Blade franchise is scheduled for TV anime adaptation! Other than the bare fact that it’s in the works little is known about the project, but based on Hobby Channel’s official announcement it’s hinted that Reina will be the protagonist. This in turn leads to all sorts of wild speculation – with the shared character designer, can we expect animation from the My-HiME team? Hobby Japan is a Bandai property, Sunrise is a Bandai property, it’s not entirely out of the question… we’ll follow up on this as soon as further information is made known. (no more)
Hmm, i hope they don’t screw up the story. If the story is crap, at least make it into a cheesy ecchi anime series :3
An explosion of character goods and figures is sure to follow. If they actually come up with a good plot, then this might be worth a look. However, I’m half-expecting them to just throw out something sub-standard just to capitalize on the QB popularity.
Lets hope it doesn’t end up like Ikki Tousen’s first season (haven’t seen the 2nd one)…Lots of ying yang but no brains
It is not surprise actually…The question is not “if”, but “when”…If Sunrise do the animation, it is going to be pure awesomeness!
@DJnerate
I think the figures and character goods have long been released.
I’m also waiting for this anime
One of the things I like about Queen’s Blade is the whole collaborative look of it; many characters done by different artists with very different styles. Obviously this can’t be entirely translated to animation, so it’ll be kinda weird seeing all the girls in a more homogenous design.
I don’t expect a great plot; I just hope the characters’ personalities are fun.
Awesome! This has the potential to be a really good series. It also has the potential to be utter crap. They already have the hook (pretty girls fighting to be Queen), character design is done, they have a confirmed audience, so take the time and money and put it into character development and plot. We can only hope. And hope it’s translated into english.
they would better make sure TOMOE is in it or i’ll kill them lol.
I hope Nyx makes it in the anime.
Echinda or bust!
I only got into Queen’s Blade recently, but I hope the anime will be good.
Cooooollllll, looks promising- hopefully will be antithesis of Ikki Tousen- great toys, absolutely utter crap manga!!
Great toys, and a great (well, tolerable) anime.
Anyway- O/T: Shingo any word from the Moetan Pastel Ink Queens Gate PVC we saw way back when?
Nix absolutely must be in it…
Here’s just a prediction for upcoming anime: Average storyline, tonnes of fan service.
As for product launches, I think only Ikkitosen surpass this one in the number of figures launched to date. And QB will probably now have more with a 24 minute a day commercial series. 8)
p.s. I’m not complaining, as I’ve been a QB fan since Megahouse’s first affordable and well made QB figure.
As for the 2 new books, I’m a little disappointed as the direction of the new characters seemed to have gone the lolita path. I prefer more full bodied and mature women like Reina and Cattleya. 8)
At last ^^
I hope with the Anime there will be a push for a re-release of figures like the ones from Megahouse.
Unless Cattleya’s in there somewhere I don’t know if I’ll care.
Noah and her panty-less-ness FTW!
I know Risty is going to be a minor character, if she’s there at all, so eh.
this anime would be bad if there is no or little cattleya scenes.
cattleya or never !
[…] I’ve been waiting for new information for this anime since the news appeared at Heisei Democracy and Animenewsnetwork recently. There’s not much details given about this particular anime, […]
Naturally, the premise of the series would lead one to think it is going to be bad.
[…] HD reports that a Queens Blade anime is in the works ,by the same team that brought you Mai Hime. I hope te story is not that screwed up, and at leat its a funny eechi anime. […]
Wow, amazing! I also hope there is a lot of cattleya in it! This better lead to a video game afterward, preferably a fighting game! That’d be awesome. I’m sure the anime will take off in Japan. Queen’s Blade is already popular and kids in Japan loved anime like Kanokon so I’m sure they’ll love this too.
