We’ve been tracking the release of Happinet’s Sugar Mint Complex Kanu Unchou (armored version) figure since her initial announcement back at Wonder Festival, and further developments today heightened interest in what was already a highly anticipated kit. Moeyo! Akibajin Blog reports on a display found yesterday at Kotobukiya’s Radio Kaikan store in Akihabara, where a piece of her armor was removed from a resin cast sample of the kit. According to his report the area beneath the armor was contoured, but unpainted; Moeyo also notes that this is not the final PVC version, so her ultimate castoff status is still not certain. Definitely food for thought regardless, and another potential reason to pick up what looks from the samples to be a promising offering. (no more)

Excellent, I came
I’m really tempted by this figure, castoff or not, Hiroman or not, but I’m a bit worried about the final paint. There is a lot of potential for paint screw-ups. I’m also not that into the face, though it’s not close to being a deal-breaker. It’s not cheap either, but I’m still really tempted by all that wonderful sculpt detail in the armor. If they pull off the paint job and I don’t get it I’m gonna regret it big time… which makes me want to risk it. Tough to decide about preordering. I also like the concept of (what seems to me like) Chinese style armor, what with Ikki Tousen being based on the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms story.
I preordered this figure from Hobby Search on day 1, this is just the greatest figure of Kanu to date (at least for me). At last a Kanu figure with armour!! I was getting tired of all that “school uniform” versions out there (this does not mean that they are low quality… there are som great Kanus in school unform out there, it’s just that for me if Ikki Tousen is about fighting it’s common sense to make an armoured figure).

I don’t like the face either and that really throws off my desire to purchase, which is a shame since the rest looks really good. There’s too many nice figures coming out for me to buy something I’m not gonna be happy with 100%.
Actually, I’m more worried about the PVC leaning problem of this pose over time.
I do hope they do a castoff version of it. But, since there is a glue mark on the resin kit itself, and the nips are unpainted, I guess the license is only for a non-castoff version. At best we can hope for is like a Konami Yoko or Daiki Mai(with nipples casted but non-painted).
At worst, they’ll hot glue the armour onto the boobs, making any attempt at removal difficult if not impossible (and even then, leave glue marks on the figure)
Keeping my fingers crossed though for a fully painted castoffable armoured Kanu. 8D
