Macross F OST 1 on sale June 4th!
Today’s Macross F episode 09 digest was brought to you by Klan Klan:
While she may not be the hottest Zentradi ever, she’s definitely one of the cutest.
I was planning to get a Chu Chu Astram review done tonight, but a project deadline at work is keeping things busy this week so I’m not sure how much time there will be for reviews. Will try to get to it in the next few days…

Milia… Your taste is impeccable, Shingo!
ok. Guess it’s time I read the latest Macross FAQ, because, I have no idea Zentraedis are giant pointy-ear elves now. 8/
I’m looking forward to the inevitable slew of Macross F figures, but I won’t be truly satisfied until there’s a 1/8th non-micronized Klan Klan available.

No one really compares. :3

I was surprised by that as well. It’s an interesting design decision, I wonder how they’re justifying it. I assume there will be some explanation, eventually.

It took me a second to truly grasp what you’re saying, but now that I get it I’m in complete agreement. We’re talking a figure about this size, right?
@Shingo: Yes. The quality, of course, needs to be higher. Quite high. Also, the boobs need to be made of that soft material. I’ll accept nothing less. And the seams need to be well hidden. With a hand-stiched, fully castoffable space-suit. It’ll be so beautiful. ;-;
maybe just some random design decision to make her look cute? Like why was there a black vulcan in Star Trek Voyager lol. I don’t particularly mind, but then again I have not seen the Macross series extensively before lol
That non-micronized Klan figure is being already planned by someone somewhere; I’d bet on it.
Also, I read that the pointy ears are a retcon from another of the Macross series (Macross 7, I think).

If you have a source on that (the Zentradi conversion) it would be awesome, I’m curious if there is a more thorough justification. I don’t recall pointy-eared Zentradis in Macross 7 but it might be worth digging the series out again to check…
Found a link to pictures of the Macross 7 characters; the ones described as Zentradi do have pointed ears:
http://basaraalpha-id.hp.infoseek.co.jp/macross7toujyou.html
Now, some say that the movie Do You Remember Love? portrayed Zentradi with pointed ears but then again everyone in that movie had pointed ears (design issues? ^_^;;).
As to why, I have found no plot-related reason; it seems it was just a design decision. Think Klingon forehead ridges in Star Trek. (Hey, it’s the only example I can think of :P).

Thanks for that, awesome. I’d forgotten entirely about that design peculiarity in Macross 7, it’s good to know that Frontier isn’t the one to be breaking continuity in that regard. I don’t think it’s a bad change, though it does pose an obvious problem for the original series (how could miclonized Zentradi agents sneak around the Macross undetected, with ears like that?).
Thanks to Nemo_M for the info on pointy eared Zens in M7. I didn’t watch M7, since there was never a licensed English subbed version nor was it ever shown on SG TV.
And from the looks of it (http://heiseidemocracy.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/macrossf_09_01.jpg), this is another anime that won’t appear on SG TV late night anytime soon, if at all. 8/
