Moon Phase is reporting tonight that following episode seven, TV anime Kanokon will cease free distribution via online broadcasters GyaO and BIGLOBE. The reason given for the move is “ethical regulations”, which appear to have kicked in following the repeated depiction of racy visuals such as bare breasts, implied handjobs, flashes of nipple exposure, and etc. Apparently a particularly memorable scene occurs in episode eight that the free broadcasters weren’t willing to test against government regulation (Edit: the objectionable content was from “episode 7 and beyond” - not ep. 8 specifically), so from now on online viewing options will be restricted to paid only. Note that this currently does not affect any of the show’s terrestrial broadcast networks; we’ll keep an eye out for any further developments on this story or related censorship issues that may arise. Censorship, in my internet?
I already wanted to see this show, now I’m doubly praying for uncensored english DVDs.

episode 8 you say….I will be looking forward to it. lol
SPOILERS . . . I just watched episode 8 this morning and really didn’t see anything that bad in my opinion. I think what may have pushed the limit with some people was a certain scene where [spoiler]Chizuru’s Mom used oppai sponges on Kouta and the implied manual stimulation of Kouta’s privates before hand. Being the MILF fan that I am, I rather liked the episode.
Hmm… it seems I misread the Moon Phase post, and the objectionable content was actually from “episode seven and beyond”. My mistake.
What is the date that the RAW version of episode 9 comes out. And actually what the HELL does RAW mean????

According to the show’s official site episode 9 will air on AT-X in Japan on May 31st. Raws should appear shortly thereafter.
“Raw” is what filesharers usually label episodes that are in the original Japanese without foreign language subtitles.
But how long does it actually take just to translate an episode???

That depends on the amount and complexity of the dialog in the episode as well as the skill of the translator. “Speedsubbing” groups can flip a translation in as little as a few hours, though most groups take a day or two to get them out (or longer, if the show isn’t as high priority).
There are enough variables in the subbing equation that it’s hard to make accurate generalizations about speed.

Normally it takes me about a day. I will normally watch a episode a couple of times and then go back to it a few hours later and do the translation. After typing a script, I go back to again later and look at it before I send it to the typesetter or QC.
But agreed, depending on the amount of slang or research that needs to be done it can take various amounts of time since Japanese is my second language . . . .
