In what has become the Orchid Seed company mantra over the past year or so, the figure maker today announced yet another production delay affecting the following figures scheduled for release this month: Edelweiss Fumie, Witchblade Shiori, and Ma ga Ochiru Yoru Sherrice. All three are now scheduled for release in June. The delays are blamed on “a third party”, but who knows where the real culprit is… we’ll keep tabs on any further information that may indicate June as the actual release window instead of just more wishful thinking. The Fumie figure was initially scheduled for more than a year ago,wasn’t it?
I think the figure is a potential leaner (like their Gothic lolita Ryomou) and they are trying to fix that.Wich is a good thing I guess…
Fumie was scheduled for December last year, and I had her on my preorder list, but took her off, due to money difficulties. Now, I’m glad I did – she’s taking too damn long!

Does suck to have to wait that much longer for the awesome Sherrice. Oh, and Deibi Manabu, I personally am rather glad they left that little element out of the figure’s many configuration options.
Not unexpected, but still disappointing. I really wanted Shiori to be released this May, but what’s another month anyway? or two, or three. :[
How is the KTC Sherrice figure, by the by?
i’m kinda glad. i have witchblade shiori on preorder and i don’t quite have the funds in my budget this month to purchase her just yet.

It’s not bad, but kind of small and has the infirmities that come with the scale. I’m meaning to pick up a copy myself and will try to get it reviewed if/when I do.
That’s all I know from a casual inspection; maybe someone else who has it can give you a better rundown.
Gandolf : I’m kinda glad too just like you, I preordered Sherrice, and GSC chu chu astram for this month, but unexpectedly some other items appeared and I just HAVE to buy it…
So basically my schedule for May should be GSC chu chu astram, Sherrice, Figma saber, Shuraki 02,04,05 and then the GSC Dark Elf… (and also some other anime (one piece) trading figures…)

Hmm. Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. Shiori has been pre-ordered for a while now, and she’ll arrive… eventually. :P
That sucks, but thanks to other delays in my pre-orders, I have too many figures coming in this month. As much as I want Shiori, I’ll happily wait until June.
Seems like GSC’s May lineup is also being delayed till June. My coveted Haruhi Gothic Lolita ver. was supposed to ship out today, but now most sites are giving a June release :(

I like many others had Shiori pre-ordered. At least my credit card gets a chance to breathe a little before the June figure onslaught . . .
Boy, Orchid Seed really fosters a love/hate kinda relationship with the company. So far pretty much all of my figure purchases have been from their company, but the constant delays from them are bothersome.
Ah well, just makes the anticipation greater and gives me more time to save up for their releases, I know they’ll deliver some quality product when it actually DOES come out XD

My first Orchid Seed figure has been an extreme disappointment. Ikaruga Satsuki… The prototype was awesome, but the released figure is so bad I would have thought it was a bootleg. Weird colors, a face that looks like it was resculpted at the factory, and the head is at an odd angle to boot.
I don’t think I’ve ever been THIS disappointed in a figure since I discovered my Atelier Sai Amamiya Sayuri had a neck tumor.
Yeah, only 4 firms I know have good consistancy across their whole product range – Alter, MaxFactory, Megahouse and Daiki.
The rest are not consistent at all – I have a good Orchid Seed Feena, but a bad Felicia, a good Movic Tsukiumi but a bad Musubi, good Yamato Tandem Twins stuff but an ok Rei. Makes it difficult to pre-order from other firms based on prototypes…sigh…
I currently have 2 (seesm like more…) Orchid Seed figures, and they both completely lived up to my high expectations. They are Ignis & Ryofu (Goth/Loli), both Ishiyama sculpts, with some type of castoff. Both have excellent finishing, and were not ‘small’ for their listed size/scale. I suppose there are probably some disappointing pieces out there (like every company), but my experiences have been quite good, and I had zero trepidation about preordering the Kanu (Bikini Ver.) and the Sherrice mentioned above.
argh… that would be ‘seems like more’ not ‘seesm’. another damn typo…sigh.
I speculating, but I think the recent figure delays could be because of China’s preparations for their Beijing Olympics and more tragically, the recent devastating earthquake that killed over 50,000 people in China.
So I think the Chinese have quite a bit on their mind besides making a plastic toy.
Let’s just be patient and wait for the release in due time.
Anyway, my wallet needs a breather too. 8)
