I’m only in Australia, but it’s one hell of a comcis scene in Japan, one which is only growing bigger really. I’ve never seen much in the way of comics in OZ either, especially compared to Japan. I find it very funny that the San Diego Comic Con, which is the biggest comics convention that the US has, pulls only "125,000 attendees, professionals, and exhibitors," despite having bona fide A-list movie stars and way more potential attendees. They go on and on about how big and great it is and yet they are crushed like a baby against Comiket's 550,000 attendees. America fails so badly at comics appreciation. That Comiket presentation is quality. I’m not aware of any Kanemitsu doujinshi, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s out there. I hadn’t come across his work in years, and now twice in a week – this, and word that he’s representing AMI (Wikipedia) as a North American voice in the free speech discussion.
