The June ’08 edition of Megami Magazine was released today, and we’re here with the scoop of its contents! With poster entries from most of the bishoujo anime of the season along with several looks ahead at what we can expect in the summer it’s a pretty well-rounded issue, and though soft in a couple of parts (too much tiny Nanoha) there are a few standout offerings that make the purchase worth it in the end. Moon Phase scoops the news of a new Higurashi OVA and talks about yuri love in Koihime Musou revealed in this issue, but we’re here for the posters:
The standout posters for me in this issue are the jumbo size Kanokon spread, Ooinari-sama, Macross Frontier (with the rare appearance of a male character in a Megami poster), and Mnemosyne – easily enough to keep me happy for the month. I also couldn’t resist shooting the page with the Zero no Tsukaima 3 scoop for a look at Tifania in her Tristain Magic Academy uniform – that blouse defies the laws of physics, and I can’t… stop… looking… orz
This month’s Girl’s Avenue featured artist is Kannagi Rei. Overall a satisfying issue, though I was disappointed by the random Nanoha barrage at the end; I guess that’s what they do when they can’t scrounge up enough real posters to fill the quota. Hopefully they’re saving up the best ones for a grand presentation in the magazine’s 100th issue three months from now!
