Update for those who don’t read the Mainichi posts (read them! please?): Volks Miku preorders sold out of the first round within a day. Preorders for a second round will open on May 3rd.
As scooped in our earlier coverage of the figure, preorders opened today at the Volks official online shop for their store limited Vocaloid2 Hatsune Miku PVC. Recapping our earlier coverage, the figure is 1/6 scale, with a sculpt from A-BRAND‘s Miruhi Shutoraase (Milchstraße, ミルヒ・シュトラーセ) and a retail price of 7,140 yen. She comes with a second exchangeable arm option, and is scheduled for release in early September. The figure is available exclusively through Volks’ online shop and brick and mortar outlets, and preorders will be closed when the production quota has been reached, so if you’re thinking of purchasing via proxy the earlier the better. hm…i think i do like the Volks’ version better than GSC’s, but she is way more expensive :(
and remember kids, Volks hates you if you don’t live in Japan. Yay!
Personally I’m not too crazy about the facial expression compared to the GSC version.
Volks gets the edge for the clothing, whereas Goodsmile has the better face and hair. But then Volks fails completely for isolationism.
Well, the fact that I’ve already preordered the GSC version from Hobby Search seals the deal for that one. I for one couldn’t care less for the Volks edition. It’s basically the same as GSC’s, but more expensive, and too exclusionist for my tastes.
The GSC version is sold out at both Hobby Search and HLJ, so it’s very popular! ^^
Will be picking up both. Just ordered this through my deputy service, but come on guys, Volk’s version is 1/6 scale over Goodsmile’s 1/8. :p
I preordered the GSC Miku. I like the face and hair better as some other people have said. I wish it was larger but c’est la vie.
Volks version looks fancier. Is that the right word for it? Going to cost me a bit more than the GSC version, but I rather get this than that.
Well, at least you are still buy Miku products. I’m boycotting all Vocaloid mascot products because of Crypton’s earlier actions against fan-based stuff, which it relented later. But the damage’s done. It’s on my BANNED list, together with Volks and Yujin.
Anyway, I consider an accurate face far more important than a bigger scale or accurate clothes.
Enjoy your purchases. 8)
technical question: so if i am to get one via proxy (who does not speak japanese -_-; though he is in tokyo) what exactly is the procedure for getting her. Aka, will there be a regular sale, where he can just go to a store and get her? or does he need to go to a store, put an order in, pay, and then pick her up on release date? if there is a specific store (physical) where is it?
*sometimes im stupid, im very sorry m(_ _)m
@Meows
I haven’t used an official proxy service (just contacts), but it looks like you give them an item to buy (online only) and they will buy it for you and charge you commission, and then they will ship it to you. So you pay the price of the item + tax + domestic shipping within Japan, + commission and the cost of shipping to you.
@uinreli
I was thinking about off. proxy too. though i read that it will be sold in actual volks store as well. My husband is in japan for indefinite amount of time, so i would rather slave him then pay for off. proxy. ^_^ but he does not read nor speak japanese that well.lol ^^

Volks’ Miku will be available at Volks official brick-and-mortar shops when she’s released in September, but given the speed with which this first round of preorders sold out I wouldn’t count on being able to walk into the store and buying her unless your husband can stand in line there on the morning she’s released. ^^;;
Your best bet is probably to have him put in a mail-order online, which would then be paid for via COD (not in advance) and assure you would get your copy as soon as possible.
Hope that helps – let me know if there’s anything else I can do to assist.
@Shingo
^_^ thank you for the reply.
I just looked at the official website and the preorders are now closed. so, will there be second round? or is that it?
I guess, since it is a web order, i would not mind step by step instructions for ordering and payment (cant read well, he cant either, lol), but thats only if you have time. I don’t want to be a bother ^_^

The latest news on Volks’ Miku (and all things figure) can be found in our daily Mainichi posts, specifically this one.
To paraphrase, online preorders for the second production round of the figure will open on May 3rd.
Looking at the checkout process it seems to be more of a pain in the ass than most (as to be expected from Volks, I suppose). My recommendation would be for your husband to ask a Japanese friend or colleague for assistance, as that would probably be more effective than any tutorial I could provide.
You won’t have to worry about paying until the item reaches your doorstep (it’s cash on delivery).
@Shingo
thank you. m(_ _)m
I will ask him to ask one of his friends. cash on delivery makes it soo much easier. ^_^
Arg, my deputy service was late and missed out. Good to hear that they will reopen on May 3. Sadly it’s Golden Week then and a lot of deputy services are closed that day. >.<
