>>Agent Wax
My guess is that some whiz in a Hollywood marketing firm did a study and found that the "anime fandom" had reached the sort of critical mass required to form the audience base of a new type of genre flick (like superhero movies or what have you), which is why we're seeing the explosion of new projects now.

I think it's within the realm of possibility that projects like this could turn out a decent final product, but the likelihood is so close to zero that I'd rather bet on winning the lottery than funding the production of GitS: THE MOVIE.

Though, who knows. With nothing invested in it I'm holding out hopes that they just might get things right; I'm used to disappointment over such things but it doesn't stop me from being optimistic to the point of sheer lunacy.

I would like to figure out what (aside from dollar signs) was going on in the heads of all those 'geniuses' who attempt to 'adapt' anime to live-action films. Anime is anime, and live-action is live-action. Pancakes and steak are both foods, but you don't see anyone making steak-flavoured pancakes,do you? Mark my words, live-action 'adaptations' of anime will either end up as utter hokey and unwatchable excrement, or wind up so radically changed as to bear little, if any, resemblance to the original anime that you wonder why the filmmakers didn't just write their own original story to start with.

Oh, wait. 'Original'. That's where they got stuck...

>>lostdog
I must confess that I'm rather partial to Arjuna (I know, shoot me now) but Macross Zero was the worst Freudian drivel ever written. Great to watch with friends while intoxicated, though.

>>Nemo_N
Is your br.... oh, there in the links. Right, I'll do that. Thanks for the reminder! For now, you can check out the upper end of the left sidebar - links to all current affiliates can be found there, as graphical buttons.

Edit: Oh, and I don't think I have the time or mind-reading capability to divine precisely what circles will draw. I may try to make a few predictions if something comes to mind, though...

>>oiokamioio
That alphabet was one of the funniest things I've seen all week. I can see a whole picture book in the making...

>>CMWilly
I think I'll pass; most of them aren't really fit to reprint. ^^;;

The Nuketan stuff had me laughing hard.
Such masterful use of language:

I've been lurking and buying from DLsite (english) since a while ago and I still don't understand why it doesn't get more attention.

Yes, some of the better stuff can be found in the net, but some people with very specific tastes can find great stuff in there along with good yet obscure stuff. And yes, I'll forever blast'em for not accepting parody works from foreginers, but still, it is a great option.

Hopefully your FAQ and word-of-mouth will get it rolling for international costumers. (Also Shingo, I think you should update the HD Affiliates links in the left sidebar to add DLsite and CDJapan, so I can get to those sites through HD)

Also, gotta love the "doujin/figure potential" in your anime reviews; what about speculating what doujin circles will do which series? :P

KAWAMORI!

I'm of the opinion that shortly after Escaflowne was done, Shoji Kawamori was abducted by aliens who removed the part of his brain that prevented him from making terrible shows.

Now we will see if they have given it back to him.
