The kind folks at Hobby Figures hooked us up with some new high-resolution images of their pre-painted Mugen cold cast figure from Samurai Champloo this morning that we’re happy to be able to present below. They also informed us that while not yet described on the official product page, Mugen will ship with magnets embedded in the arm and leg parts for optimum easy assembly. The kit retails in June at 1/8 scale (14.5 cm tall, 26 cm long) and features a sculpt from Takahashi Tsuyoshi (Ichigo Eiga Ippai Sake). Retail price is 12,800 yen, and the kit is a limited run of 2,000 pieces worldwide. High-resolution images below:

Thanks again to the staff at Hobby Figures for providing us with these images! We look forward to presenting future news from the maker as we receive it.
Update: French fan site Hobby News has the narrative that led up to this exclusive look at Hobby Figures’ Mugen online today, in both French and English. Definitely worth checking out for more information on the figure!
still a pass for me, but I must say I am impressed. Here’s hoping this is a sign of things to come (especially their upcoming PVCs). Here’s also hoping the final product will live up to these pictures, and that they stick with primo sculptors like Tsuyoshi here.
that’s a pretty nutty pose with a solid paint job. Can’t wait to see what they bust out for Queen’s Blade.
Looks awesome *w* Looking forward to their (more affordable) PVCs.
Sadly I already have too many preorders.I’m really going to miss not buying this awesome figure (they should delay it some months XD)
Haha, whoa. The painted version looks so damn good. Not interested in him though.
Really lovely. *__*
For precision, the base of Mugen represente a vinyl disc with a famous serigraphy.
Hop. In the bag for me.^^
I am the author of there pictures. The prototype is very impressive.
> Merlin : you’re so weak :D
>>Apogee
Awesome, you did a great job with the photography! It was cool to read about how you got the scoop over at Hobby News.
Thanks Shingo. Sometimes, anonymous calling are goods :D
Very nice dynamic pose indeed.
Still, if they’re using magnets, I do hope they do an accurate job getting the polarities right. I still have a Yamato VF-0S that has accessories that won’t stick since the polarity is wrong. Also, it has to be embedded properly and be airtight. Else, the figure may soon get brown stains on it (rusting)
Guess I will pass on this and see what they come up with for the QB range. (If it’s as good as this, I think I have another series/company to collect) 8) (great figure)… 8( (empty wallet)
