According to Wikipedia, Mediaworks, Ascii and Enterbrain were all Kadokawa group holdings to begin with. It may be that this merger is no more than a cosmetic change for business/financial purposes.

Perhaps the question at this point is what area of otaku publishing Kadokawa doesn’t have a hand in…
