Figure maker Yamato updated their official site today with listing for two new figures: first, an alternate color version of their Creator’s Labo #014 guitar girl Arisa (HD review of the original). This version is due out in May, at 7,140 yen and specs similar to the original. The second new item up is is a Priss / Moto Slave action figure set from Bubblegum Crisis. The set is 1/15 scale, with the bike 14 cm long (15 cm tall in Motoroid form) and the Priss figure 11 cm tall. Both are fully articulated and come with option parts (check out the “photozoomer” images for details on the various configurations), and the set retails in May at 7,140 yen. (no more)
Wow!! That Priss/Moto slave figure set is awesome!! Wish it wasn’t so dang tiny though. It blows my mind the different configurations you can have with it. gonna keep a eye out for that.
The Arisa repaint is okay- I have the original and this one doesn’t seem better, or worse. I’ll stick with the original purple hair.
I prefer the original Arisa color, she looks more appealing in that :)
I love the original Arisa, and other than the black thigh highs I don’t see much point to this one.
the priss/motoslave looks interesting, but the motoslave looks really plastic. It’s a Yamato product so we can probably expect a really high pricetag too (still not as bad as studio halfeye tho). And I never thought i’d say this, but I think i prefer the 2040 motoslave design.
Firmly in the maybe box for me.
That’s Yamato for you. An alternative colour version (or two or three) is typical of them. I will be very surprised if there isn’t one. 8)
The original color scheme with the RED Rickenbacker definitely looks better. What’s with the lousy colour coordination of this other version? Are they just trying to get rid of what’s left over in the paint shop that’s soon to be expired? 8/
FINALLY, an ORIGINAL BUBBLEGUM CRISIS figure!!! WOOT! I was wondering when/if there ever will be a re-introduction of this very popular late 80s cyber-punk anime to a new generation. After all, we’ve already seen re-issues of Five Star Stories, Macross and Mospeada toys.
Price of 7k yen for 1/15 scale kit is on the costly side. But, I’ll still get a set, if only to persuade Yamato to release the rest of the gang.
p.s. This Yamato prototype definitely looks better than my poorly made Atelier Sai poseable BGC figures. Hopefully, the mass product is good too.
Wow. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen anything on Bubble Gum Crisis. The original series has a special little place next to my heart. I want the Priss figure! >.<
Yeah, I like the original Arisa better too. The only repaints of Shunya’s figures I’ve really liked is the blue Mirei-san and the red Petra.
Wow, loving the Priss figure! Wish it were bigger so there could be more detail / definition, but I’ll take what I can get :) Surprised anyone is releasing figs for such an old series!
Actually, I’m surprised that BGC isn’t promoted more actively with new merchandise for the 21st century. After all, the character designer Kenichii Sonada is still very much alive and active on the manga scene, including his latest which is quite popular from what I’ve read.
And yeah, I’ll grab what I can now, since when BGC was first shown, I could hardly afford the industry magazines showcasing this series, much less the toys or merchandise. 8)
i actually rather like that recolor. i have the original so i wont be making a purchase of it, but the black stockings/panties especially are nice.
the priss is also pretty cool, although truth be told im more of a nene fan. im surprised to see bgc figures still being produced.
