Sometimes I imagine something should change to act as a catalyst for US distributing, but it seems like with Japanese companies making it especially difficult for US distributors lately with talks of ways at cutting them out, and the malaise you mention or the questionable effect of fansubs, it seems like things are in a grating rut.
