The February ’08 edition of Hobby Japan magazine has leaked four days before its scheduled publication! 2chan’s mokeura board brings the goods, and we bring them to you – a representative sample of the new goodness to come in the next couple of months, and updates of some items we’ve been watching. Warning: this post is not for the faint of heart or those offended by epic-class broad backsides. Or shota. =_=;;

From left to right:
- Ru/Li/Lu/Ra manga set extra figure (special order only)
- discussion of the future of the Excellent Model brand (“Excellent Model MILD” coming next year)
- HJ limited Marimite Shimako / Lawson limited Marimite Noriko
- HJ limited T’s System Pastel Ink coming next month
- cast off Queen’s Blade Medicos trading figures
- cast off Queen’s Blade Cattleya and Rana

From left to right:
- Kotobukiya x Niθ Plamo wo Tsukurou CUSTOM project continues
- Gurren Lagann Yoko PVC from Wafuudou Ganguten in March
- Enterbrain’s Manyuu Kenchou Manyuu Chibusa PVC from Cerberus Project (French Doll) in March
- Trigger Heart Exelica PVC coming from Toy’sworks next spring
Several of these items are continued from last month’s issue. See the following posts for further information on the Niθ figure, Ru/Li/Lu/Ra figure, etc.:
Perhaps the most momentous news here beyond all the previews is the information that Gurren Lagann is no longer a Konami exclusive property. With Wafuudou Ganguten having announced a Yoko the floodgates are now open for other figure makers to pile on to the franchise, presumably, so we’ll be on the lookout for offerings from major brands in the near future.
Great to hear that Yoko will be made in PVC. Ive been in love with Manyuu Chibusa kit for a long time and I am so excited for a PVC release. March is such a huge month I’m close to $1000 worth of preorders :( Thank you so much for the preview shingo
That cattleya’s got epic everything. lol
Niθ’s also fast becoming one of my favorite artists. Love that illustration and how that figure’s comin along.
Man! I have Exelica on preorder! Can’t believe that they pushed it back to spring after they advertised a Dec release for so long!!
Oh my March is looking terrible for me -_-;
OT:
Anyone with experience ordering from Amazon.jp?
I am going to be coming to Japan at the end of April and wanted to put an order in with them for all of my March/April stuff.
Do they actually hold everything until each item is available or will they send things out if they’ve been released?
Wow- a lotta nice looking figures….with nice looking figures!! LOL! Anyway-
To Y- I believe you can choose if you want your order all in one go if you are willing to wait, or you can get it piece meal as it comes out. Of course the piece meal is more expensive because you get charged for each shipping.
I have used them and was happy with the experience. I would/will use them again.

$1000 in preorders?! Ouch… I feel your pain. I’m happy about the Chibusa kit as well, I was almost tempted to pick up the resin but glad I held off, in hindsight. I wonder if there are any Cerberus kits at this point that won’t be eventually picked up for PVCification…
>>suneo
She does, she does indeed. I can’t wait to see her front side. And a colored version of the Niθ kit!
>>gundamjehutykai
That’s a different Exelica kit, actually – the one you have on preorder is likely Alter’s version, which was pushed back to January (not quite so bad). This Toy’sworks version is new.

I’m not sure whether you can ask them to hold things over and ship when all are available or not. It seems like something they should allow, within a certain timeframe; I know Mangaoh allows it within three months, for instance. Not sure about Amazon though.
Wow, oh wow! Talk about some jaw-dropping stuff here! I will definitely get that Yoko from Wafudoh Ganguten! 1/6 of her? you bet! ^^
Somehow I also knew that the Cattleya would have the boy naked. I still wouldn’t mind getting that..
Also the Chibusa looks great too! Boy, too much to go on..
Wafudoh has always had interesting figures. I’ll be watching closely and see how this Yoko fairs, or might I wait for your review Shingo? :p
It’s great to see that so many Cerberus Project figures are being done in PVC.Waiting for that Enterbrain’s Manyuu.
Was the Princess Waltz Angela better that Iris? (because I found that one a bit poor)
And about Yoko’s figures, one of the best sculpts is Kotobukiya’s kit.Any chances to see it prepainted (pvc or resin)?
Does anybody know what say the Discussion about the Excellent Models?? I just Hope that They Continue with the CORE line, more ONE PIECE fIGURES and SAINT SEIYA (c`mon just Three More!).
Ru Li Lu Ra Exclusive is Pretty Cool, would Like MegaHouse make more Figures of that quality!
It´s Amazing that in this days we can see some inside of the February issue.
Thanks Shingo! ;)
Oh my god, it’s about time a decent looking Yoko pvc came out. I was so disappointed with the konami version.
“Gurren Lagann is no longer a Konami exclusive property.”
Finally.
Soul of Chogokin Lazengann closer to being a possibility.
Every time I think I can start saving money….
I so want that Manyuu Chibusa PVC. Lovely busty ninjas are my weakness.

Nothing to add here that’s not already been said by everyone else.
Maybe this: every month I thought I could stop pre-ordering stuff and save up some money. But every month there are new releases that are just too cool/hot not to buy. No one else but the Japanese can release new designs (figures, clothes, mecha, etc) every day that are just way extra-ordinary. I salute them. \BANZAI!/
The detail in Cattleya’s back looks so amazing, that I have little doubt that the front will match. Full cast-off…I think I’m gonna faint!
>>The-O
I’m not sure whether I’ll pick up Wafuudou’s Yoko yet; it seems they’ve hiked up their prices a bit (though she is 1/6 scale). Will wait for further visual evidence before deciding… I’m more tempted by the Manyuu Chibusa, to be honest. orz
>>Baldulf
I’d say Angela was a bit better than Iris, though more due to her original design than to the quality of Wafuudou’s workmanship. I’d say they’re firmly middle-tier when it comes to their production work, somewhere below Yamato; if they keep these high prices without improving production quality I think they’re going to lose some buyers. :/
>>Steve
There’s not a lot of definitive information. What is said is that a) they’ll continue producing kits in the new A.I. line, b) they’ll continue the Alpha Omega collaboration with Alter, c) next year will see the launch of the “MILD” line, likely to be unveiled at Wonder Festival, d) the number of kits in the Excellent Model series will not increase, but their diversity will. We’ll have to wait for more details in future issues, it seems.
>>Anachronism
I’m with you there all the way. :3
I want those Mariamite couple. How I get them?
>>AT1987
Noriko is available exclusively via Lawsons convenience stores in Japan, and Shimako will be available exclusively via the Hobby Japan online shop. I’m guessing a proxy agent would be able to get both for you; there are several listed here in the lower left corner of the site.
