I wasn’t able to pick up last month’s issue of Megami soon enough to do a timely review, but we return this month with a look at the latest the bishoujo anime pinup magazine has to offer. As was the case two months ago it seems Megami has once again outshone the competition from Comp Heroines with another great issue! Check it out for particularly delectable offerings from Bamboo Blade, Kodomo no Jikan, Dragonaut, and more.

Megami proves once again in this issue that they have the industry contacts and production infrastructure necessary to produce what is unquestionably the highest quality magazine of its type on the market. Particularly notable are a Lucky Star version of the bunny girl Haruhi illustration that inspired FREEing’s Haruhi figure line; really nice bedtime versions of Tama-chan and Kokonoe Rin; the usual impeccably illustrated POP story; and my personal favorite (of course) the Uno Makoto-illustrated offering from Dragonaut.
Those are just the tip of the iceberg of an issue that is all around quite solid, with almost all A and B-rank posters. The primary extra is a Shana pencilboard featuring the cover illustration, which I don’t particularly mind because it frees up poster space; A poster is wasted on some sort of StrikerS thing but there’s way less Nanoha in this issue than last issue so I can’t complain too much on that front. The Girl’s Avenue featured artist this month is Fujima Takuya.
Apologies for the low light conditions and the glare, I was shooting in the one room in my apartment with a space heater this evening and the lighting isn’t exactly ideal… Those looking to score a copy of the magazine can support HD by ordering at J-List (reserve subscription, individual issues) or Amazon.co.jp.
I wonder if this means we’re going to get a line of giant Lucky Star bunny girl figures in the near future. :3

Looking like a nice issue. I’ve only ordered issue 90 just last night, so i’m a little behind.
Lovely Belldandy poster.
i should just subscribe. goddamnit.
Can’t wait to get my hands on this issue!

I agree with you. Lovely Belldandy poster. Damn, she’s still hot after all these years in competition against lots of hot character designs (e.g. Dragonauts)
I guess one never forget their first love. (or first anime character)
Still remembered Ah My Goddess was my first anime purchase on Laser Discs at S$150 x 5…That was like my 2.5 months meal allowance…
Oh wow! This one magazine has eluded me for a long time now, as it is rarely found locally here…If only Play-Asia would offer a pre-order for Megami magazine, I would probably subscribe for a year… ^_^;;
There’s not enough teddy bears in that Rin poster :3
Hm, I don’t like the January selection as much as the Nov and Dec, but I’m definitely looking forward to hanging the Clannad and Lucky Star ones.
@L.C.: J-list offers subscriptions.
Personally I really hate it when they put pencilboards in, as they’re utterly useless.

Or you could subscribe through CDJapan, at least they are more effective than JList, no offense, JList ordering system is a bit lacky in terms of checking your status of the subscription. I waited a month and emailed them to enquire about my order status and told me that they aren’t sure if they could secure one for me. I reply back then to cancel.
Great stuff I might have to subscribe to this. Speaking of dragonaut and Uno Makoto can we expect a review of his artbook Shingo?

Yeah, reviews of both the INO and Uno books will be coming soon! A bit disappointed with the Uno book, sad to say… not as much new material there as I was hoping, though the poster is nice.
I disagree- there are TOO MANY teddy bears in that rin picture!!
Just got mine one today.
Posters going up are Clannad, Lucky Star, Kodomo no Jikan, Shana pictureboard (can’t think of anything else to use it anyway. lol), Sky Girls and maybe Myself;Yourself.
The best edition by far considering there is so much variety. ^^
I’m probably getting this..thanks for the pics. :D
‘Tis very nice, and a step up from the previous issues which seemed to have been hijaked by StrikerS…
Still, I’d rather the front illustration as a huge poster, as I love Shana to bits and that illustration is one of the best yet of her, but at least it’s not a huge StrikerS one! *grumbles about ten previous StrikerS ones*
Anyway, I skipped the last few, as I couldn’t afford them (they’re still available on Amazon for now, so I may still get them), so I was thinking to just start afresh with the new year and onwards.
Just got it in today. Must agree with Optical. Best edition with the nice extras. No more strikers front page, heh.
[...] better like this. Oh yeah I have not opened it so no pictures available yet. Reviews can be found here. I will probably post pictures [...]
[...] doesn’t seem to have the magazine’s usual evil power. My usual sources of information, Shingo and Kurogane, weren’t even sufficiently inspired to review it. And a check on the usual image [...]
