Figure News: Revoltech Expo preview (updated)

GA Graphic got a look inside the Tokyo Anime Center today where tomorrow’s Revoltech Expo will be held, and brings back a few preliminary scoops from the event: a Gurren Lagann Revoltech action figure is planned for May release, there is a Fist of the North Star series in the works, and a Revoltech Fraeulein Idolm@ster series is in production as well, with Amami Haruka due out in May and Futami Ami due out in June. We’ll be keeping an eye out for further bishoujo news from the event as it progresses tomorrow. Update: GA Graphic has posted a continuation of their coverage, showcasing the upcoming Fraeulein Revoltech line including the recently scooped Yamashita Shunya-designed POCCO (fourth in the series, due out on April 1st). Update 2: even more pictures can be found at the Akiba Hobby preview here. (no more)

Figure News: Orchid Seed’s Shiori enters full preorder, amaloli Ryofu Housen announced; Q-six’s Linda kit sells out

After her unveiling yesterday on Orchid’s official site we assumed it would only be a matter of (short) time before her preorder became widely available, and it seems we were right: Hobby Stock has a preorder listing up today for Orchid Seed’s Tsuzuki Shiori (bikini ver.) PVC figure, with other shops presumed to follow shortly. I’ll be watching Amiami like a hawk… In other news from Orchid, they’ve announced a new “amaloli” color version of their recently released gothic lolita Ryofu Housen PVC figure. This pink dress version is apparently limited to sale via wholesale supplier Shinpo, and release is expected in the spring (preorders close on January 25th) at 6,800 yen retail. On the garage kit side of things, the Linda-designed Q-Six resin kit we reported on earlier this month went up for preorder and back down again with astonishing speed, with the first wave of production shipping on the 28th. Horribly color-reduced GIF images of the [ERO] kit can be found here. We’ll be on the lookout for further news on all of these items as it comes to light. (no more)

[ERO] Figure Review: Yamato’s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project (Sunny Day) sculpted, Creators’ Labo CL#014 Guitar Girl Arisa PVC

Cerberus Project’s guitar girl Arisa is a kit I’d been lusting after since I first saw her in resin at Wonder Festival Winter 2006, so when news came last July that Yamato was going to produce a PVC rendition of her the extent of my chortling glee can scarcely be underestimated. I’ve been in high tension mode ever since, wondering just how Yamato would treat her – fears that I am very happy to say were largely needless. Read on for a look at what turns out to be one of the loveliest kits of the year.

Figure News: Orchid Seed’s Tsuzuki Shiori (bikini ver.) PVC from Witchblade up for preorder

I’ll be damned if the news doesn’t just keep coming tonight… Figure maker Orchid Seed has just put up an official page and preorder listing for their prodigiously endowed Tsuzuki Shiori (bikini ver.) PVC figure from Witchblade that we’ve been tracking here for the past few weeks! As previously reported she is scheduled for release in March of next year at 6,800 yen, 1/7 scale (revised downward from 1/6), and 23 cm tall. The sculpt is from Orchid regular Ishiyama Satoshi, and based on the visual information thus far her castoff status is still in limbo; here’s hoping. She does come with a replaceable mutant arm, which is kinda cool… Orchid’s gallery reproduced below:

Figure News: Claymore, Lineage II, catgirl Tsuruya, Revoltech Rin, and prize figures oh my!

A bunch of figure news rounding out the day today: word is coming in from 2chan’s mokeiura board that Megahouse’s Claymore Clare PVC figure and Yujin’s SRDX Lineage II capsule figures are both now on sale. In addition Bandai has put a Metamo (color changing) catgirl Tsuruya-san up for preorder; she’s set for release in late March at 4,410 yen. Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Fraeulein Rin action figure is up for preorder today as well, with release set for February 1st; finally, GA Graphic brings us a look at the 10th “Prize Fair” that took place on November 2nd, which is presumably a fair where prize figures are shown (hence the name – brilliant!). The items on display come from six different makers and will be released between April and June of next year. Oh, and also:

Figure News: Yamashita Shunya meets Fraeulein Revoltech

Kaiyodo is holding a Revoltech Expo this Saturday, December 1st, from 11:00 – 19:00 o’clock in Akihabara’s Tokyo Anime Center. Admission is free, and the official Revoltech Blog has been hyping all the new Revoltech swag on they’ll have on display leading up to the event. Today they tipped their hand on one particularly delicious item, Fraeulein Revoltech vol. 04 Heppoko Onna Senshi Pokko (pictured on the lower right). Despite only having access to her rear at this point the design looks terribly familiar, and confirmation comes in the word that it is from the inimitable Yamashita Shunya. I’m not a tremendous fan of the recent boom in bishoujo action figures, but I’m definitely curious to see what this one is all about… we can expect further news come the event on Saturday. Update: Eggfoo notes in comments that the girl pictured is in fact the cover girl from Yamashita Shunya’s Sweet Dreams artbook. No wonder she looked so familiar… (no more)

Figure News: Nendoroid Petit Lucky Star, Yuria Hyaku-shiki “Lightning Figure” up for preorder

A couple more bits of figure news to report over the noon hour today: the “first season” of Lucky Star Nendoroid Petit trading figures is now available for preorder at online shop Tokimeki Mall, and should be up elsewhere soon as well. I wonder what the secret figure is? Also, Amiami’s noon update today included rookie brand First Class‘s maiden release (scooped here), Yuria Hyaku-shiki (advanced prototype love doll heroine of the eponymous manga). The Lucky Star trading figures are due out in February at 500 yen each and 10+1 variations (a 12-unit box goes for 6,000 yen), while Yuria is due out in late January at a cool 7,140 yen (1/7.5 scale, 19 cm tall) with a LED light-up base. Update: Amiami updated their listing with a full [ERO] gallery that reveals Yuria is in fact castoffable right down to her panties. Suddenly a rather more attractive item… (Outdated) Yuria gallery follows:

Figure News: Haruhi, Fortune Arterial, Keroro coming from Wave, Dynamite Kanu PVC sample up at Moeyo

Wave updated today with a few new items on their release lineup for next spring: Treasure Figure Collection Suzumiya Haruhi is coming out in May at 4,935 yen and 1/10 scale (16 cm tall), DreamTech Sendou Erika from the new August game Fortune Arterial will be out in late April at 5,775 yen, 1/8 scale with a sculpt from zenko, and Dark Keroro x Nasuka will be out in conjunction with the new Keroro Gunsou movie on in late January, but it may only be available in theaters in Japan (4,800 yen, non-scale, 15 cm tall). In other news Moeyo has a sample PVC review of Yamato’s [ERO] Dynamite Keikaku Kanu Unchou online, and she’s looking a good sight better than in Akiba Hobby’s review from a couple of weeks ago. She’s still on track for a December release, thank goodness… can’t wait to see her in person. :3 J-List still has her available for preorder if you’ve been on the fence. (no more)

figure release schedule updated

Eroanime News: Warau Kangofu 2 stills, Shin Bible Black final episode trailer online

A couple of bits of eroanime news across the e-desk this morning: first up courtesy of Getchu is a preliminary look at episode 2 of Warau Kangofu: THE ANIMATION. Based on the Yonekura Kengo eromanga by the same name the first volume came out on October 26th from Pink Pineapple, and according to the Getchu listing this second one is scheduled for release on January 25th. In other news, a trailer is now online at the official MS PICTURES site for the final installment of Shin Bible Black. Firefox isn’t cooperating particularly well with the flash implementation there so you may have to view in an alternate browser, but it’s worth booting the dreaded IE to take a gander – looks like quite the climax to the series. As we reported earlier, this final episode is slated for release on December 25th. (no more)

Figure Review: Movic’s Matsu PVC from Sekirei

As an ardent fan of the Sekirei manga and an equal opportunity devotee of the various female members of its cast, back when she was announced I found Movic’s Matsu impossible to ignore. I have a critical weakness for brainy girls with glasses, and despite her uncharacteristically racy attire in this figure Matsu fits the profile perfectly… How does she compare to Tsukiumi and Musubi? Read on for our third Sekirei figure review!

Figure News: Yamato’s Guitar Girl Arisa and high kick Hakufu, Movic’s Matsu now on sale

According to their product listings, Yamato‘s Yamashita Shunya designed, Cerberus Project sculpted [ERO] Guitar Girl Arisa and their [ERO] Story Image Figure Sonsaku Hakufu (high kick ver.) are both in stock and shipping now! Buying via these links is a great chance to pick them up if you haven’t snagged them via preorder yet, and you can support HD in the process. Akibajin blog is reporting today as well that Movic‘s Sekirei Matsu figure is now on store shelves (and just arrived here, in fact – expect a review later tonight or tomorrow morning). More whoredom / news below:

Misc. News: Mainichi Junk encore

Those who have been reading HD for a while may recall the use of the phrase “Mainichi Junk” to preface quasi-daily newsposts, back in the days when posts were filled with stuff that was actually interesting instead of all this constant spastic figure blather (I kid. A bit). I’m hauling out and dusting off the beloved Junk one more time here today, in a post full of random news that doesn’t really fit anywhere else but could prove to be surprisingly entertaining (if you swing that way).

Figure News: CM’s’ lifesize Kokonoe Rin figure now in color

Figure maker CM’s updated the official site for their Kodomo no Jikan Kokonoe Rin vinyl figure today with photos of her finished color version, and I must say they’re underwhelming. CM’s incompetence at smaller scales is well documented, but I thought they’d have an easier time with something closer to human size… apparently not. I’d imagine some who preordered before these shots appeared are having second thoughts right about now. (no more)

Figure News: Daiki Kougyou’s Shiranui Mai (black ver.) PVC from King of Fighters unveiled

First scooped last week as fallout from the Miyazawa Model Exhibition, last night Daiki put up an official listing for their Cobra-Kai (Toushirou) sculpted Shiranui Mai (black ver.) PVC figure from King of Fighters. She’s scheduled to go up for sale via standard distribution channels at specs similar to those of her standard issue counterpart, 1/5 scale (33 cm tall) and 14,700 yen retail. Production is limited to 2,000 pieces, and release is expected in March of next year. I like the look of this version, but at that price I can’t afford two copies of the same kit… ;_; Update: she’s now up for preorder at Amiami, and Daiki has changed their listing from 2,000 units to a 1,000 unit limited run. Magazine Review: Comp H’s (Comp Heroines) Vol. 7

The most recent edition of bishoujo anime magazine Comp H’s came in yesterday, complete with its usual passel of pinup posters (alliteration not included) and the obligatory dose of Kadokawa mandated Kyoani tie-ups (mostly Lucky Star). Read on for a preview of the poster selection as well as the other goodies bundled with this issue of the delicious ‘zine!

[ERO] Artbook Review: Toranoana-limited Official Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny Fan Book

Back when we scooped the release of this book two weeks ago it called out to me with the irresistible siren song of glorious 2D bishoujo ecchiness. Ensembles of doujin artists such as this don’t just grow on trees; they need to be coaxed and coerced to join forces by a power no less mighty than… well, the promise of a quick buck from Toranoana, which is no doubt what they received in return for services rendered. If you like Ikkitousen, doujinshi, scantily clad girls, or Ikkitousen doujinshi featuring scantily clad girls, you will certainly want to check this out.

Figure News: Hobby Japan January 2008 leftovers

We’ve already scooped the bulk of what was new in this month’s issue of Hobby Japan, but after getting my hands on an actual copy of the magazine last night I noticed a few other odds and ends that might be of interest. Includes updates from Witchblade, Kimikiss, Code Geass, Queen’s Blade, Bible Black, and Nitro+ character designer Niθ; details below:

Figure News: Shuraki roundup – high res Needa, Meifeng reissue, Rize release date

Online shop Infinity Wonderland posted their Needa preorder last night, and along with it a gallery of high resolution images of the kit (reproduced below). She’s looking great! Of greater import in the listing however is the news that Shuraki vol. 2 Meifeng is scheduled for an April 2008 reissue, and Shuraki vol. 5 Rize is due out in April as well. This should put fears to rest of those unable to get Meifeng when she was first released earlier this month. Images below:

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Shuraki Needa PVC up for preorder

As of midnight tonight, November 27th, the fourth volume of Goodsmile / Red Entertainment‘s collaborative multimedia figure series Shuraki is now up for preorder! Volume 4 features the Yamashita Shunya-designed Needa as voiced by Chiba Saeko and embodied in a sculpt from Hagii Shunshi of Studio Saru Bunshitsu, and is likely to invoke a similar rush to preorder as her earlier peers Mishiro, Meifeng, and Shall, so haste is advised for those interested in picking her up. Good luck to all combatants as we enter the fray! (no more)

Figure Review: Goodsmile’s Shuraki vol. 2 – Riu (Liu) Meifeng

The multimedia figure series that earlier this year redefined the scope of the figure otaku feeding frenzy is back in its second installment! Shuraki vol. 2 brings the incredibly cute Riu (Liu) Meifeng to the fore, in yet another dynamite combination of character design, sculpting and voice acting talent. How does she compare to the series’ first installment, Akatsuki Mishiro? I’d say incredibly well, but pictures speak louder than words:

Figure News: Persona 3 FES Metis, Ma ga Ochiru Yoru Sherisu coming in PVC from Orchid Seed

Further coverage of yesterday’s Hobby Complex 02 is in today from GA Graphic, which reports on two new PVC kits coming from Orchid Seed: the first is Metis, the FES-exclusive Persona 3 character, with a sculpt from Ishinaga Sakurako (Google cache). The second is Sherisu, the protagonist of eroge and eroanime Ma ga Ochiru Yoru. This is a PVC version of an [ERO] resin kit that came out at Wonder Festival 2007 Summer under the auspices of Kill Time Communication, with a sculpt from Tako Tomoyuki. Price and release information are yet forthcoming, but we’ll be keeping an eye on both as production advances. Castoff Sherisu shots below:

[ERO] Game News: Illusion enters the international market with new brand Digitown

HD reader fake brought this to our attention this morning: Illusion, the (in)famously xenophobic maker of polygon-based eroge, is finally heeding the call of Commodore Perry and opening their work to the international market though official channels. This Heisei restoration comes in the form of Illusion sub-brand Digitown, which appeared out of nowhere recently with zero fanfare other than a cryptic banner on Illusion’s official site. They already have a product available for sale on their English website, though: Digital Girl Rin. This is not something I expect anyone would buy (she’s just a poseable 3D kisekae doll, similar to things Illusion has given away for free download in the past), nor is she officially rated to work with English operating systems, but the fact that they have an international storefront (albeit done in hilarious Engrish) seems to indicate plans for further expansion into foreign markets. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this project as it unfolds. (no more)

Figure News: Hatsune Miku Nendoroid up for preorder

As speculated, preorders officially opened last night for Goodsmile’s Nendoroid Hatsune Miku. She should be gradually appearing at online shops over the course of the day today, so those keen on the acquisition are advised to keep a sharp eye out… There has been some questioning in comments as to what the big deal is surrounding Miku, so a quick word on that: Hatsune Miku is voice synthesizer software that can be manipulated to sing just about anything – in other words, a virtual idol. A combination of solid character design and competent technical specifications provided the platform for a profusion of net memes that catapulted her to doujin stardom virtually overnight, becoming a sensation similar to Churuya-san or the OS-tans. She can be found on YouTube here and here. (no more)
