Figure News: Goodsmile updates with Pastel Ink, Mabinogi Succubus PVCs (updated)

Goodsmile updated their official page over the noon hour today with listings for the Moetan Pastel Ink PVC figure just mentioned earlier, along with a new listing for their Succubus PVC from Mabinogi. Ink is due out in March of ’08 at 1/8 scale (20.5 cm tall) and 8,800 yen retail, while the Mabinogi Succubus is due out in February at 1/8 scale (18.5 cm tall) and 5,800 yen retail. The Succubus is looking rather alluring, but I think Ink-chan’s price will be a turn off for many… with the pair listed at Goodsmile preorders should be following very shortly. Update: According to Goodsmile’s official blog their Mabinogi Succubus comes complete with a damage version of her dress. Pictures below:

Figure News: Wave Angel XX Nano series updated with three new figures

Wave is releasing a series of Angel XX Nano super-deformed figures to complement their already established Angel XX line, figures based loosely on the Angel designs from Evangelion and designed by illustrator Yoshizaki Mine. The XX nano page was updated today with listings for three new petit figures, Tabris XX Nano, Zeruel XX Nano, and Leliel XX Nano. They’re all due out in March of 2008, presumably at the same 1,890 yen price point as the earlier installments of the series (Sachiel and Lilith are due out in November). I’m really liking the look of the Leliel design myself. :3 (no more)

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Moetan Pastel Ink PVC release details pre-scooped, Dark Elf preorder delayed

The official Goodsmile blog presents details today regarding the release of their POP-designed Pastel Ink figure from Moetan. She’s 1/8 scale, will retail complete with diorama background at 8,800 yen, and Akiba Blog will start the full court promo blitz tomorrow with an exclusive scoop (presumably accompanied by preorder availability). In other news from Goodsmile this morning, the official web shop preorder of their Dark Elf Female Mage reissue was supposed to have begun yesterday, but has been delayed until further notice. Those thinking of picking her up may want to contact their proxy services now, as it’s looking unlikely that she’ll be up for general release… we’ll be keeping an eye on this. (no more)

[ERO] Game News: Sengoku Rance recieves two manga adaptations, Uesugi Kenshin hug pillow cover (updated)

Via Moon Phase Diary, the Integrated Dakimakura Research Institute, and the G’s Magazine official blog: Great news for the [ERO] Sengoku Rance fans! Not only is the game still rated over Fate as most recommended eroge by readers of Tech Gian, word is in from the latest issue of Dragon Age Pure that starting with its next issue (on sale December 20th) a Sengoku Rance comic will be serialized within, penned by none other than up and coming (ero)mangaka Sameda Koban. For those who can’t wait two months for their Sengoku manga fix, the first volume of Dengeki G’s Festival! COMIC will include not only an ero-ero Uesugi Kenshin dakimakura cover but also the beginning of a serialized Rance manga by Naruse Hirofumi. The latter is due out on November 26th, but as of posting I can’t find anywhere that has it up for preorder… We’ll be keeping a close watch on this one. Update follows:

[ERO] Figure News: Kotobukiya’s Clalaclan is castoffable, but…

A courageous individual at 2chan’s mokeura board went ahead and did what was inevitable given the inviting seams around Clalaclan‘s chest region, forcibly separating the front of her dress from what lies beneath. As expected it is a process that results in some damage to the kit, and does not yield a finished product; thus it is an operation only recommended for those willing to void the warranty and do some experimental reconstructive surgery (or be left with a pair of vaguely defined and vaguely unsatisfying bosoms staring you in the face). Regardless of the lack of post-op articulation this is an amazing kit that I’d recommend to anyone who can still find her available – a rare home run from Kotobukiya that is rapidly becoming rarer. I wish they made them all like this… castoff pictures below:

Figure News: Megahouse Queen’s Blade Cattleya up for preorder, gallery online

Happinet’s online shop Moe Soul certainly doesn’t waste any time, listing Megahouse’s Excellent Model CORE Cattleya PVC figure from the Queen’s Blade game artbook series up for preorder a scant four minutes after the stroke of midnight on the day the magazine officially announcing her sale (December’s Hobby Japan) was released. Not only is the listing up, but it contains a full decent resolution image gallery (though no evidence of castoff yet). Now that she’s up at Moe Soul we can expect other retailers to have her up soon, so those interested should keep a sharp eye out – there may be more of us MILF fans out there than this thread would suggest. :3 Thanks to Imp for the heads up! Figure News: Clalaclan and Fasalina released, Didii up at Play Asia, release schedule updated

Just a quick note that Max Factory’s Fasalina PVC from Gun x Sword [Play Asia] and Kotobukiya’s Clalaclan Phileas from Shining Wind [Play Asia] both went on sale today, and that if you were on the fence I’d recommend prompt action as they’re both looking like items hot enough to disappear from store shelves with alarming rapidity. Reviews of both will be up at HD in the next day or two. In other news, Hobby Japan mail order limited [ERO] Jingai Makyou Didii PVC is currently available for preorder at Play Asia as well, as is the recently announced Kuro no Franco from Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango. These listings and more have all been gathered on the newly updated HD release schedule page for your reference and perusal! Clalaclan and Fasalina preview pictures below:

Eromanga Toshokan vol. 007: Happiness!

In today’s edition of our stroll down eromanga lane we take a look at the most recent work* from Amatarou, an artist who is tenacious in his pursuit of the awesome. I hope you’ll agree that “Happiness!” in the title is not mere hyperbole, and while reading this review might not make you a better person it will certainly uplift your spirits (or something else). 18+ ONLY, NWS.

Manga News: Hatsune Miku manga announced, to begin serialization in November

According to Moon Phase Diary a manga featuring Yamaha’s virtual idol Hatsune Miku will begin serialization in the January 2008 issue of Comic RUSH (on sale November 26th), and will be penned by Miku character designer KEI. I haven’t done much Miku reporting (Zepy‘s the man to go for for up to the minute news on everyone’s favorite voice synth) but this is a great development in my book; too often characters are poorly interpreted by mangaka other than the original creator, but with her designer on board for the project I’d say Miku is in safe hands. Figure News: Konami’s Gurren Lagann Figure Collection vol. 1 up for preorder

Hobby Stock posted a listing this afternoon for Konami’s Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Figure Collection vol. 1! It’s a six piece set that includes Yoko, Nia, Simon, Kamina, Gurren Lagann, and a rare Yoko (swimsuit version). Simon comes with replaceable drill, which can also be equipped on the robot; the larger figures are approximately 12 cm tall (sized in proportion to the earlier released Impact Model Lagann), and they’re set to retail in March of next year in a box of ten for 7,140 yen. Picture below:

[ERO] Figure News: Atelier-Sai’s Mahou Senshi Sweet Knights 2 action figures in limited edition castoff

GA Graphic brings the scoop today that Atelier-Sai is producing a castoff limited edition of their Sweet Lip, Sweet Kiss and Sweet Passion action figures, heroines of Triangle’s 2004 eroge Mahou Senshi Sweet Knights 2 (Erogamescape). The post contains no information about where the limited edition versions can be obtained, though it does list them as up for sale in “fall 2007” at 6,300 yen each. For 16 cm tall action figures that seems a bit steep, even if they are [ERO]; at typical Atsai quality and with the weird action figure seam beneath the bust line it seems these will be easy to write off unless they hit the bargain bin, alas. [ERO] Figure Review: Orchid Seed’s Kanu Unchou (strawberry milk ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen

After giving the first two incarnations of Orchid’s gothic lolita Kanu a miss I wasn’t originally planning to pick this one up, but an unexpectedly good deal called out to me and I couldn’t pass up on the chance to pick up another castoffable Kanu (I think I may be diseased in this regard). Here we are then with the third color variation of what is a decent sculpt, but one with a few production issues that Orchid has hopefully ironed out in their releases scheduled for the near future.

Figure News: more from December’s Hobby Japan includes Lineage II, more Queen’s Blade, Manabi Straight

2chan’s mokeiura board is a gift that just keeps on giving, tonight divulging further scans from the as-yet unreleased December ’07 edition of Hobby Japan. In addition to Cattleya in color we have further Queen’s Blade news: the Medicos Entertainment trading figure set that has been listed on the official QB site for months is finally in color with a release date of mid-February ’08 (Nowa and Reina shown here); also Griffon keeps hammering away at their resin / cold cast lineup with a new Nix and designs for several other kits in the pipeline. In Lineage II news we have word that Yujin is releasing a capsule figure set of the game’s female characters at 300 yen each, and word from Goodsmile that preorders will be opening soon at their official online shop for the reissue of their Dark Elf female mage. Finally, news is in that Toy’sworks is planning the release of a Manabi Straight trading figure set, due out in late February. All this and more can be seen in the images below:

Figure News: Megahouse Excellent Model CORE Cattleya (Katorea) PVC from Queen’s Blade, now in color

The December issue of Hobby Japan won’t be officially released for two more days, but images are surfacing from it around the net already including this most delicious item (scooped here last month): Megahouse‘s Queen’s Blade Cattleya PVC, now in color. The set (complete with her son Rana) is due out in February of ’08 at 7,350 yen; if Cattleya alone is your flavor, word has it that she’ll be available for sale as a separate item as well. While no castoff configuration has been officially confirmed as of yet, several elements of both figures are looking mighty suspicious at this point… Hobby Japan scan below:

Figure Errata: a reckoning of recent Ikkitousen offerings from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

Originally written as a reply to this post, what follows is an attempt to sort out the mess that was the past year in Ikkitousen figure releases (from Goodsmile and Comic Gum alone). Hopefully those tracking Ikkitousen releases will find the following list useful (and will correct me if there are any inaccuracies):

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Nendoroid Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu up for preorder

Goodsmile put a listing up for their Tsuruya-san Nendoroid this morning just in time for Amiami’s noon update, where she’s now available for preorder. She’s scheduled for release in February of next year at 3,000 yen retail, the typical 10 cm tall with a variety of exchangeable parts including her maid outfit, school uniform, a tray, and a pair of arms extended zombie-style. I’m not sure whether the Haruhi boom is still strong enough to carry her to rapid extinction, but if you’re intersted I’d advise keeping an eye out and placing your preorder in early days. (no more)

Figure News: Comic Gum presents limited edition Ikkitousen trading figure set

Word is in from the Comic Gum manga website that in commemoration of the magazine’s 11th anniversary they’re releasing a mail-order only Ikkitousen trading figure set. The set consists of six figures plus bases which can be combined into one big diorama, and runs a cool 5,800 yen; procurement is via the typical “clip out the magazine insert” arrangement, and while no release window is specified I’m guessing we’re looking at somewhere between February and April of ’08. Normally I’d pass this sort of thing over as just another cheap attempt to score extra magazine sales at the expense of international fans (which it is), but I thought it was worth mentioning because sculpting duty is from Shiragami Takayuki, aka he of the twisted torso and the Shiranui Mai kit we reviewed awhile ago (Amiami search). With him at the helm we can expect some really funky, dynamic sculpts out of this set and it’s a damn shame it’s so limited… we’ll keep an eye out in the event an alternate wide release version is announced. Figure News: Cerberus Project x Wafuudou Ganguten figure collaboration featured in Tech Gian, new PVC scoops

The December ’07 issue of Tech Gian magazine was released this past Sunday, complete with a feature on Enterbrain’s figure brand Wafuudou Ganguten and its recently formed alliance with Korean sculpting circle Cerberus Project. According to the article Wafuudou was introduced to Cerberus by Polygonia, a sculptor who has been a staple of the Wafuudou lineup for the past few years, and the introduction led to the release of Cerberus’s Princess Waltz Iris and Angela as well as the upcoming [ERO] Halloween Girl PVC. Wafuudou recently took a trip to Cerberus’s workshop in Seoul, and presents the exclusive scoop of two new PVC figures as well as several other Cerberus kits in the works – see below for details!

Figure News: Nitro+ shop limited version of Alter’s Kuro no Franco PVC unveiled

With the regular edition up for preorder last week, the official Nitro+ online shop today took the wraps off their limited edition Kuro no Franco PVC figure from Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango. As expected the three major design differences are her expression, the addition of a scarf, and the striped undergarment so brazenly flaunted in place of the original white. Those preferring this version will likely have to acquire it via a proxy, as she’s only available from the Nitro+ shop. (no more)

Protoculture News: latest word on the doujin crackdown

The Yomiuri Online today reports that the Metropolitan Boueki Kaikan Taitou building in Asakusa, the site of several dozen small doujin events each year, has closed its doors to adult doujinshi – perhaps for good. The Yomiuri article cites investigation of the content sold at Abnormal Carnival as the reason prompting the closure (declaring it “judged as an unfit use of public space”), but apparently it’s not just ABC that is affected: Queen’s Coliseum II has been contacted, and we can assume that other near-term events have as well. This development has the potential to put a serious dampener on the niche doujin scene that had depended on the facility for space, and while other privately owned locations are no doubt available for rent it is unclear in what form such events will survive. I’ve sold there as a circle myself on two occasions and been there as an attendee many more, and I’m going to miss the place… we’ll be keeping a very close eye on this situation as it develops. Update: further details below:

Figure News: preorder window for Konami’s Bemani Lilina PVC extended

Hinazuki Lilina, the second entry in Konami’s Beatmania IIDX figure series, is not dead yet! We thought it was unlikely back on October 6th that Lilina would reach her 2,500 preorder quota necessary to trigger production by the original cutoff date of the 9th, and it turns out that premonition was correct. Instead of dropping the project entirely however Konami gave her a new lease on life, allowing preorders through October 28th. As of the 20th they’re still 314 units shy of the goal, so it’s looking to be a close thing… I don’t know whether this counts toward the preorder total or not, but Play Asia has her listed as available for those pondering the purchase and hoping to influence the outcome of events. [ERO] Figure Review: Hobby Japan’s Izuruha PVC from Ru/Li/Lu/Ra

Izuruha is one of those figures that Hobby Japan puts out on a regular basis to sell their magazines. The only way to get them is to clip out a stamp from a page of the magazine, tape it to a card with your name and address and send it in, thus guaranteeing that you spend an additional 780 yen for the magazine above the price of the figure (and exorbitant postage). I’m guessing they did quite well by this particular piece of promobait, as nothing beats a full castoff for drawing the eye to an unknown character with a vaguely seedy design; I was among the legions hooked in by the promise of leggy PVC, so here’s the HD take on what is admittedly a very nice item indeed:

New Site Poll: Is visual censorship an issue for you?

Japanese adult media, whether it be anime, manga, figures, games, or live action pornography, is intimately linked to the concept of visual censorship. Manipulation is done to all of these that serves in various ways to obscure objectionable content to greater and lesser degrees; while it can vary from the deliberately stylistic portrayal of the offending regions to a thin black bar to a massive mosaic that occupies the entire screen, today’s question is not about the type of censorship but the simple fact that it’s there. Does it bother you enough to be a deal-breaker? Is it irritating, but bearable? Or do you not even notice it anymore? Note that this doesn’t refer to the censorship of themes, merely the obscurement of their visual representation. (no more)

[ERO] Figure News: Hobby Japan mail-order limited Ru/Li/Lu/Ra Izuruha PVC available at Play Asia

First scooped back in April, the Megahouse-produced Hobby Japan mail order limited Izuruha PVC figure from the Ru/Li/Lu/Ra manga and TRPG was finally released over this past weekend. Back when she was announced much hype was made over both her full castoff and the fact that the body portion of the kit is made from a single cast piece of PVC (meaning no seams); I shot her this morning for our HD review, and she’s looking great. I mention this now because checking over at Play Asia it seems they have her in stock, though at a rather steep premium; this may be the only way for fans outside of Japan to procure her, though, so if you’re interested now’s the time. [ERO] Manga News: Comic Yurihime “Wildrose” anthology goes on sale

Ichijinsha, publishers of Comic Yurihime, released a volume of ecchi yuri manga dubbed Yurihime Wildrose yesterday (October 18th) in conjunction with the release of the manga serial’s 10th volume. Akiba Blog has a look inside, and the [ERO] content seems quite charming indeed. :3 While nominally “by women for women”, the fact that Ichijinsha put a column up at Akiba Blog reminds us that the beauty of the lily is appreciated by all genders… International fans can obtain Wildrose via Amazon and Mangaoh, and the standard Yurihime serial is available as well. Now if only we could get more news on the fourth season of MarimiteUpdate: the title of (non-ero) yuri game of the year is likely going to Kogado’s Solfege, due out on December 21st. Tanoshimi da wa~ Update 2: Akiba Blog has an uncensored look at Wildrose up this morning. (no more)
