Word is in from the Comic Gum manga website that in commemoration of the magazine’s 11th anniversary they’re releasing a mail-order only Ikkitousen trading figure set. The set consists of six figures plus bases which can be combined into one big diorama, and runs a cool 5,800 yen; procurement is via the typical “clip out the magazine insert” arrangement, and while no release window is specified I’m guessing we’re looking at somewhere between February and April of ’08. Normally I’d pass this sort of thing over as just another cheap attempt to score extra magazine sales at the expense of international fans (which it is), but I thought it was worth mentioning because sculpting duty is from Shiragami Takayuki, aka he of the twisted torso and the Shiranui Mai kit we reviewed awhile ago (Amiami search). With him at the helm we can expect some really funky, dynamic sculpts out of this set and it’s a damn shame it’s so limited… we’ll keep an eye out in the event an alternate wide release version is announced. (no more)
LOL- these look great!! I can’t wait to see the whole set together.
That Iroha looks positively painful, but Mai is strangely alluring in a “Come give it to me up the arse. Hard” fashion.
The Ikkitousen ones are not that appealing to me. And anyway, they’re not valid outside Japan. Bah.
They also had a limited black gosurori version up for order in September. I picked it up without hesitation
I have seen the black Ryoumo Shimei up for PO at online stores but the other 2 (Unchou and Hakufu) aren’t available
There is a pic of the set on my blog.

This is going to get confusing, but here’s how the recent Comic Gum Ikkitousen figure landscape looks to me, in roughly chronological order:
1. A black gothic lolita Kanu Unchou was available via magazine mail order only in early ’07.
2. Goodsmile announced a white version of the gosurori Kanu for general release.
3. Over the summer three magazine mail order only figures were available. Hakufu, Ryomou, and Kanu.
4. Comic Gum made three special edition black versions of previously figures available for purchase via their online shop: Kanu, Hakufu, and Ryomou.
5. Goodsmile announced a black general release version of the limited release Hakufu from (3).
6. These trading figures were announced.
Of the above items the ones most likely to be widely available are the general release items from Goodsmile (see the bottom of this page) followed by the black versions formerly available from the official site; the others are all magazine order only and therefore much more hard to come by.
I hope that clears things up!
Hm… who is manufacturing the trading figures?

The listing doesn’t say, alas. Given the cooperation with Goodsmile on these other items I’m guessing they may have a hand in it, but that’s just a guess.
Pre-orders for this appeared on beNippon over the weekend… I had just placed mine, and then went back to look at the page and it was listed as SOLD OUT.
Sold out after THREE hours? Hrrmmm… wonder what other sites are experiencing.
