[ERO] Figure Review: Orchid Seed’s Kanu Unchou (strawberry milk ver.) PVC from Ikkitousen

After giving the first two incarnations of Orchid’s gothic lolita Kanu a miss I wasn’t originally planning to pick this one up, but an unexpectedly good deal called out to me and I couldn’t pass up on the chance to pick up another castoffable Kanu (I think I may be diseased in this regard). Here we are then with the third color variation of what is a decent sculpt, but one with a few production issues that Orchid has hopefully ironed out in their releases scheduled for the near future.

Figure News: more from December’s Hobby Japan includes Lineage II, more Queen’s Blade, Manabi Straight

2chan’s mokeiura board is a gift that just keeps on giving, tonight divulging further scans from the as-yet unreleased December ’07 edition of Hobby Japan. In addition to Cattleya in color we have further Queen’s Blade news: the Medicos Entertainment trading figure set that has been listed on the official QB site for months is finally in color with a release date of mid-February ’08 (Nowa and Reina shown here); also Griffon keeps hammering away at their resin / cold cast lineup with a new Nix and designs for several other kits in the pipeline. In Lineage II news we have word that Yujin is releasing a capsule figure set of the game’s female characters at 300 yen each, and word from Goodsmile that preorders will be opening soon at their official online shop for the reissue of their Dark Elf female mage. Finally, news is in that Toy’sworks is planning the release of a Manabi Straight trading figure set, due out in late February. All this and more can be seen in the images below:

Figure News: Megahouse Excellent Model CORE Cattleya (Katorea) PVC from Queen’s Blade, now in color

The December issue of Hobby Japan won’t be officially released for two more days, but images are surfacing from it around the net already including this most delicious item (scooped here last month): Megahouse‘s Queen’s Blade Cattleya PVC, now in color. The set (complete with her son Rana) is due out in February of ’08 at 7,350 yen; if Cattleya alone is your flavor, word has it that she’ll be available for sale as a separate item as well. While no castoff configuration has been officially confirmed as of yet, several elements of both figures are looking mighty suspicious at this point… Hobby Japan scan below:

Figure Errata: a reckoning of recent Ikkitousen offerings from Comic Gum and Goodsmile

Originally written as a reply to this post, what follows is an attempt to sort out the mess that was the past year in Ikkitousen figure releases (from Goodsmile and Comic Gum alone). Hopefully those tracking Ikkitousen releases will find the following list useful (and will correct me if there are any inaccuracies):

Figure News: Goodsmile’s Nendoroid Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu up for preorder

Goodsmile put a listing up for their Tsuruya-san Nendoroid this morning just in time for Amiami’s noon update, where she’s now available for preorder. She’s scheduled for release in February of next year at 3,000 yen retail, the typical 10 cm tall with a variety of exchangeable parts including her maid outfit, school uniform, a tray, and a pair of arms extended zombie-style. I’m not sure whether the Haruhi boom is still strong enough to carry her to rapid extinction, but if you’re intersted I’d advise keeping an eye out and placing your preorder in early days. (no more)

Figure News: Comic Gum presents limited edition Ikkitousen trading figure set

Word is in from the Comic Gum manga website that in commemoration of the magazine’s 11th anniversary they’re releasing a mail-order only Ikkitousen trading figure set. The set consists of six figures plus bases which can be combined into one big diorama, and runs a cool 5,800 yen; procurement is via the typical “clip out the magazine insert” arrangement, and while no release window is specified I’m guessing we’re looking at somewhere between February and April of ’08. Normally I’d pass this sort of thing over as just another cheap attempt to score extra magazine sales at the expense of international fans (which it is), but I thought it was worth mentioning because sculpting duty is from Shiragami Takayuki, aka he of the twisted torso and the Shiranui Mai kit we reviewed awhile ago (Amiami search). With him at the helm we can expect some really funky, dynamic sculpts out of this set and it’s a damn shame it’s so limited… we’ll keep an eye out in the event an alternate wide release version is announced. Figure News: Cerberus Project x Wafuudou Ganguten figure collaboration featured in Tech Gian, new PVC scoops

The December ’07 issue of Tech Gian magazine was released this past Sunday, complete with a feature on Enterbrain’s figure brand Wafuudou Ganguten and its recently formed alliance with Korean sculpting circle Cerberus Project. According to the article Wafuudou was introduced to Cerberus by Polygonia, a sculptor who has been a staple of the Wafuudou lineup for the past few years, and the introduction led to the release of Cerberus’s Princess Waltz Iris and Angela as well as the upcoming [ERO] Halloween Girl PVC. Wafuudou recently took a trip to Cerberus’s workshop in Seoul, and presents the exclusive scoop of two new PVC figures as well as several other Cerberus kits in the works – see below for details!

Figure News: Nitro+ shop limited version of Alter’s Kuro no Franco PVC unveiled

With the regular edition up for preorder last week, the official Nitro+ online shop today took the wraps off their limited edition Kuro no Franco PVC figure from Zoku: Satsuriku no Jango. As expected the three major design differences are her expression, the addition of a scarf, and the striped undergarment so brazenly flaunted in place of the original white. Those preferring this version will likely have to acquire it via a proxy, as she’s only available from the Nitro+ shop. (no more)
