Word is in from Yamato today that they’ll be releasing a third color version of their Tandem Twin sculpted “leopard” series, Doubutsu Nee-chan Momo. Unlike the two previous versions of the kit, Yamato is including the exchangeable chest part that was an optional mail-order purchase for the other two; this has resulted in a correspondingly higher price, though, and I’m finding it doubtful that this move will do much to change the status of what was already a shelf-warmer of a kit. She’s scheduled for release in January of ’08, at 1/6 scale and 9,240 yen retail. (no more)
Have to say I like the pink alot!! But I got the black version along with the optional chest part a while ago and I haven’t regreted the decision….
I won’t be getting this one…I already have the new “Twin” that’s coming out on order.
Tsk, I got the yellow version (Chloe) of this figure some time ago…It was a pre-order that I wish I never made…Paint quality was really “BAD”, paint bleeds, plus the skin tone was not the same as advertised…Instead of a tanned skin, Chloe had a “sunburn” for cryin’ out loud… T_T
Problem with Yamato is inconsistency in quality in the same product. e.g. I bought 2 Macross VF0a with Ghost online. One was top notch quality. The other piece has some of their magnetic attachments glued with the wrong pole facing out, hence I cannot attached them at all without some major modding. :(
As for this figure, it’s 50% more costly compared to the normal edition. I guess I will buy only with spare cash, which I have very little for the next 3 months…tooo many pre-orders already…I like the hot pink colour though. :)
Color scheme is nice, but at this price tag and hearing about paint issues on previous PVCs … maybe it’s better to buy the resin kit and do it yourself :(
Not really into this, but Yamato can do some good figures! Their Creator’s Labo Non-Non is just superb, and sits proudly on my desk in front of me. I guess it just is a case of priority or something? Who knows why one’s worse than another?
