Erect Sawaru is a doujin veteran of many years, and one whose work I’ve not always been fond of – his books tended in the past to be incredibly messy, to the point that it was nearly impossible to tell what was going on. This first collected volume of his serialized works carries over many of the traits of his doujin, but contains enough stuff from his more recent period to make it worth a second look. Note: this is a hardcore [ERO] book. If you’re under 18 or not interested in hardcore content this post is not for you. If neither of these conditions apply, by all means read on!
I’m not quite sure how I missed this earlier as apparently the site has been up for some time, but figure maker First Class (official blog) is now open for business. They had a booth at Dream Party, which Moeyo! Akibajin Blog details here: the brand is apparently the brainchild of a fellow who calls himself kyo montana, and its maiden release lineup consists of the aforementioned Yuria Hyaku-shiki in December of this year, and Hitoyume‘s Hata Seika and Kozue Arine in January. Yuria is 1/7.5 scale (what?) while Seika and Arine are 1/8; all three are expected to retail at 6,800 yen. Pictures weren’t officially allowed at the event, but Moeyo recieved special permission; check out his coverage for further details, where the extended lineup (mostly bishoujo game figures) is also detailed. Word is in from the official Goodsmile page today that FREEing, known until now for its 1/4 scale Haruhi figure line, will be shrinking down to the 5 centimeter scale with this Lucky Star Figure Collection. The trading figure set is due for release in January of ’08 at 420 yen per figure, with a total of five figures + one secret, each with exchangeable parts included. Not sure at this point how many figures will be included in a box, but we’ll keep an eye out for preorder info. Update: according to Amiami’s product listing each box will contain ten figures and retail at 4,200 yen. (no more)
Moeyo! Akibajin Blog has posted a rundown of the action at yesterday’s Dream Party, and there are some tantalizing bits indeed. We see here what may be an entirely new figure brand dubbed “First Class”, which will launch with three figures: one from Yuria Hyaku-shiki, and two from Hitoyume. Given the [ERO] sources odds are good that they’ll be at least partially castoff. We also get the aforementioned taste of Resinya’s lineup, a first look at the Ikkitousen hug pillows coming from Machi Chara, and a glimpse of Solid Theater’s offerings from Yotsunoha and ef. Ahh, I want this poster… (no more)
Word is in from Yamato today that they’ll be releasing a third color version of their Tandem Twin sculpted “leopard” series, Doubutsu Nee-chan Momo. Unlike the two previous versions of the kit, Yamato is including the exchangeable chest part that was an optional mail-order purchase for the other two; this has resulted in a correspondingly higher price, though, and I’m finding it doubtful that this move will do much to change the status of what was already a shelf-warmer of a kit. She’s scheduled for release in January of ’08, at 1/6 scale and 9,240 yen retail. (no more)
Akiba Blog yesterday reported the release of Moyuru Kami no Kuni!, a 270-page moe-clad manifesto from Ikaros Publishing (not to be confused with Icarus Publishing) of what appears to be softcore Japanese nationalist propaganda. Art is from miko legend Tanaka Shoutarou, with text by Suzuki Doitsu, author of Gundam and the Second World War, among others; the book’s content includes such themes as “the reason Japan hasn’t been invaded until now is the presence of the JSDF and the US military”, “there are other righteous wars that should be fought beyond wars of self-protection”, “in order to be accepted as a trusted, normal member of the international community, we must amend the constitution”, “rational countries such as Japan should possess nuclear weapons”, “are there any other countries beyond China, North Korea and South Korea who object to devotional shrine visits honoring our war dead?”, and “sexy miko in lingerie”. If this book becomes a best-seller, one of the above themes in particular seems to stand out as why… (no more)
Akiba Hobby and Dengeki Online are the first to report in on the figure action at yesterday’s Dream Party Tokyo 2007 Fall, the former bringing detailed looks at Goodsmile’s maid version Rider PVC from Fate / hollow ataraxia (first scooped here), due out in March of ’08 at 1/8 scale and 4,800 yen retail, and Max Factory’s Fiina (swimsuit ver.) PVC from Yoake, due out in February at 1/8 scale at an undetermined price. For its part Dengeki brings a general survey of the whole event, with shots at the very bottom of the upcoming Resinya Toradora! line. In other news, a bit from the Plamo / Radicon Show that we missed: Kotobukiya has a maid version Tamaki PVC from To Heart 2 coming out in February at an undetermined price. We’ll keep an eye out for further Dream Party news as it emerges throughout the day today. (no more)
