The Kotobukiya web shop has a preorder listing up today for a Sakuragi Mai PVC figure from Elf’s 1992 bishoujo game classic Dokyuusei. She’s from Taki Corporation, the same company that brought us the recently reviewed full castoff Kanu Unchou, and is scheduled for release in November at 1/6 scale (20 cm tall) and a retail price of 9,240 yen. While the pose is rather appealing, with a face sculpt resembling that of a blowup doll and shoulder seams clearly visible I’m not seeing how this will sell as anything other than pure (and expensive) cheesecake. Edit: The listing mentions that Narusawa Yui from Doukyuusei 2 will be released by Taki as well in the near future; we’ll keep an eye out for her. (no more)

Doesn’t look attractive to me so nah, not on my buylist.
Taki…still have a lot to learn. Kanu was awful… Let them bring out some quality and then we will give them another chance…
Really…what’s up with the small figure at such a price? Are Taki trying to cover their losses from their last venture by upping the price? I mean, at only 20cm, even a full-castoff isn’t worth that. Especially given the maker (not good quality yet), and that it’s a typical PVC fare. This really isn’t a good step. They need to get it together – this isn’t molding well…^^;
>>Deibi Manabu
Note that that 20 cm is the height (of her rear end, presumably), not her length from head to toe. That’s a pretty big figure given the pose.
Stil, the quality is indefensible. -_-;;
As a big Dokyusei fan (it was my first ecchi game and anime), this figure doesn’t look at all like Mai. And yes, I am comparing this figure now with my poster and LD cover of her. I am disappointed.
