From today (October 5th) Toranoana has preorders open for an [ERO] voice-equipped Amami Karin hug pillow from FlyingShine’s Kurai Mirai 4. The pillow features the voice of Kanzaki Kanari (Erogamescape) (Wikipedia) as the game’s heroine, with four different pre-recorded sound clips in a detachable voice box inserted in the case; the case itself is double-sided, 145 cm x 45 cm, and retails at 9,240 yen (case only). Preorders are open through the 14th of this month, with the item expected to ship in mid to late November. Pictures and sample voice clips below:

Note that this is not an official part of the Purichichi lineup that we’ve reported on from Toranoana in the past. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of the concept of a voice-equipped pillow before, but this just might be a first…
OH god that was so funny me and JP couldn’t stop laughing
MECHA KANJIRUSHI! LOOL
I love your posts ;-)
Do you know how horrifying it’d be when the batteries are dying, and the voice becomes a twisted distortion of itself?
Oh and Shingo, is the character designer of the Kurai Mirai series well-known? I’ve always admired the level of polish and CG-shine that went into their CGs, and Amami Karin is just a knock-out!
Never thought I’d actually want to buy one of these, but the hikkikomori life does get to you after a while… ;)
>>Hinano
Glad to provide amusement! As long as Japan keeps making this stuff it’ll keep showing up here…
>>Kurushimi
Man, that’s a horrible thought. I hope the batteries are replaceable. And that the sound quality is decent, for that matter. I’m having visions of an ero-voiced Tickle-Me Elmo right now…
The character designer for the Kurai Mirai series is Aikawa Arisa, a designer with quite a library to her name. I don’t think she’s well known outside of eroge circles, though.

Indeed, life away from the rest of civilization for long enough tends to do strange things to people.

wow. well, innovative to say the least.

This is actually the second in the line of voice dakimakuras. The first was Nanase Ren from Yakin Byoutou.
>>DJnerate
Good call, I was pretty sure this wasn’t the first. Couldn’t remember where I’d seen one before, though. Edit: durr, the Nanase Ren one is mentioned right there on the order page.
So are these like exclusives to toranoana or can they be obtained elsewhere too?
@DJ: im surprised there hasnt been an influx of them in that case :p interesting!
>>Y
These are Toranoana mail order exclusives, yeah. Your best bet if you’d like to get ahold of one is to use a proxy buying service (like the ones linked here in the sidebar) to handle the transaction for you for a small commission.

I don’t think a single pillow (now two) could amount to an “influx” of anything, especially considering that they’re Tora limited. I mean, I dunno… can the market for this sort of thing (above and beyond that market for dakimakura that already exists) really be that big?
On second thought – yes, yes I suppose it can. -_-;;
Well, I’m not a big fan of seiyuu so I probably won’t be getting these anyway. I doubt I would be using the voice thing much even if I did.
Yessiree, been waitin for this ‘un. Kurai Mirai has some of the best animation out there and Karin exemplifies that. I’ve been tempted to learn Japanese just to play those games, which is a somewhat sad reality when you really think about it.
One step closer to the Synthetic Automated Girl (S-AutoGal); a life-size android designed to look (and act) like your favorite anime/manga/game girl. They would be sold as merchandise like CD’s, figures, etc.
I want a Kagami.
I’m joking of course, but I’m afraid this pillows might look rather tame in the future; the japanese seem to always go further and further with this kind of things.
I’ve already got the oppai cover preordered. Having one “talk” is just kinda creepy, and I’m none too fond of the images on it either.
I will pass. However if they ever managed to get Inoue Kikoku to reprise her role as Nurse Ryoko-san (Ogenki Clinic) on a hug pillow case of this nature, I will definitely be ordering a dozen of them. :o
p.s. I know this is near impossible to happen though. :(
To Kat_Ears_Kahrain:
Won’t repeated washing wear out the rubberised oppai? That’s one of the reason I don’t usually buy pillow cases or towels with anime pictures on them. I do have a few t-shirts of my fav anime characters though. :)
