In a late afternoon announcement today Amiami posted a preorder listing for an ero-ero Rio (Rio Calendar 2007 ver.) PVC figure from Super Black Jack (a game commonly found at pachinko parlors). In a departure from previous Super Black Jack figures her top appears to be completely castoffable, sure to make this a high-demand item; sculpting duty is from Ranmaru (also responsible for the recently HD reviewed Shingyouji Mao), with production by Orchid Seed. She’s scheduled for release in November at 1/7 scale (19 cm tall) and 6,825 yen retail; as the name suggests she’s based off the cover illustration of the official Rio 2007 Calendar. Note that we don’t have official confirmation yet of her castoff status, so if you’re thinking of a purchase based on that criterion it might be wise to hold off until we know for certain. We’ll be looking for an official Orchid Seed page update soon.
Just curious, where on the Amiami page is it mentioned that her clothes are castoffable?
Castoffable or not, keeping my eye on this one. Am a closet Rio fan.
Love the character but something about this figure is bugging me…..love the fact that she’ll be (hopefully) castoffable since it’s a nice looking figure. Maybe she looks too busy to me….she is trying to take everything off at once which is a little difficult/stupid in reality. Especially for her since she doesn’t have that much on too take off- lol!!
Dunno about this one, unfortunately the pose isn’t helping me.

I was interpreting “nugikake pose” as “castoff” for some reason. A synapse misfire, in hindsight. If Orchid’s listing doesn’t reveal anything further when it goes up in the next day or so I’ll edit the post to suit.

I prefer this pose to a plainer one, to be honest. Realism tends not to be a factor in most figure poses, after all. :3

As popular as Rio may be in doujins or whatever, her figures and other goods haven’t been doing so good for the most part. Picked up a couple of Rio figures brand new at bargain basement prices recently. Looks pretty fine to me, but another manifestation of oversupply, perhaps?
Apparently, this figure’s going to have a limited edition featuring her in red.
Yeah, I didn’t bother mentioning the Namco store limited edition because I figured it wouldn’t be available internationally (and wasn’t interested in picking it up myself).
…. damn, I think I like the design of the red version better after all. Already ordered the black, though. Sigh.
