I’ve been an Eva fan for a long long time. And Rebuild is great, just not earth-shattering.

I enjoyed part 1 quite a bit, and look forward to seeing the rest as they are released.

Oh, and the fight with Ramiel is MUCH improved. Amazing CGI and sound design really make this fight much more epic than in the TV series.

Good reviews. The first reviewed the plot, and the second reviewed the technical aspects.

It’s a shame that the movie seems to be a compressed version of the series that’s a little sped up, as opposed tto a whole new take with added info instead. Though I sopose it’ll keep those Eva purists happy for now.

I think I’ll check out the movie if it atleast means I can oogle at my favorite anime with better animation and art. (From the screenshots I’ve seen, they put a lot more detail and effects into every frame.) However, the glow in the dark Eva is rather tacky.

please tell me they will do something with the last movies where they will be shown within the same time period and not be condensed into one movie. eva is 13 hours of development with the whole tv series, 13.5 if you include end of eva. they need to have as much screen time as possible to develop everything well. if they condense too much it can’t develop well. although anno is a smart director and writer and understands this so i hope he does it right. heres hoping.

All the Eva movies are supposed to be out by this time next year
2.0 comes out this spring and
3.0 AND 4.0 together (kinda like EoE) Will come out summer ‘08

this is interesting but i am worried about the suggested lack of background and character development-afterall at east half of what makes evangelion what it is the detail in the characters and their interactions amongst one another. and to finkinstreet-i agree that a more influential asuka may be interesting-but she was already an exceptionally important character from shinji’s perspective-he fights at his best when he fights alongside her, gets a kiss off her, that infamous EoE scene etc…

I liked Mana from the Iron maiden game… Much better than that whiny Asuka :P I kinda feel for Shinji and think maybe if he got a nice girl then he’d get his act together and stop moping. Hopefully it’s her, but then it might be that one from the Saturn game or a combination of the two… or they’ll both get there eventually. Anyway, I look forward to this! Sounds like one flic will release every year, which means that this whole thing will end probably by 2010. O_o I think this all might be more for the benefit of the live action film or for Anno’s newly starting up studio than any merchandising but you can bet there will be!
