We take a look today at the bonus figure included with the recently released Dragon Age Pure vol. 4. Is it worth buying the magazine for the figure, or is the prodigious international shipping cost better spent elsewhere? I’d say the latter… sorry, Hachie.

Dragon Age Pure's Kujou Hachie PVC from Bee-Be-Beat it! figure review

It’s hard to work up much enthusiasm for this figure, as aside from the moe-moe Itou Noiji original design it doesn’t have much going for it. Dragon Age Pure is only on its fourth volume and thus far aside from the designs I haven’t been too interested in the Bee-Be-Beat it! story; I picked up this volume of the manga serial more out of habit (and curiosity about the limited edition Crimson Grave figure) than anything.

Looking at the sculptor’s home page it doesn’t seem he has much in his portfolio to write home about, though his Churuya figures are cute; I’m guessing the rather underwhelming quality of this figure is due more to his limitations than those of the Goodsmile production process, which brought us the only slightly larger but infinitely more pleasing Kazeko figure a few days ago.

That said, there are imperfections in the paint job and distortions of part extremities due to shoddy packaging that have been shown to be avoidable by the likes of Konami’s Mechamusume series; the blame for this falls squarely at Goodsmile’s feet. For shame – what could have been a nice little kit ended up mediocre and soon forgettable. Ah well, at least it was an excuse to use the phrase Bee-Be-Beat it! in a post a few times.

Overall Score: 5/10

The kit would have scored lower if it weren’t for the consideration that it came bundled with a magazine that standalone would have cost at least 500 yen; when thought of as a 340 yen figure it’s not nearly as bitter a pill to swallow. Still nothing to write home about, and nothing I’d recommend ordering if you weren’t planning to order the magazine in the first place.
