Japanese sites take their foolishness very seriously, and this year seems to be no exception. In the final hour of April 1st, here are some resources for those seeking enlightenment in zen and the art of bakadom:
- VisualNews forum members have been tracking bishoujo game site shenanigans all day. Type Moon is up to their usual tricks, and 0verflow is offering an English subbed version of their Summer Days trial demo – last I checked the torrents didn’t work, but the mirrors did. I downloaded this expecting some kind of gag, but it’s actually a straightforward translation effort, and it’s raising a lot of questions in peoples’ minds.
- Via Moeyo: Golgo31 has posted a nigh-comprehensive list of Japanese April Fool’s Day site gags. I don’t have time to go through them all, but I do recommend Teatime’s technological breakthrough in the world of robot girls (be sure to click the link at the bottom of the page).
- Moon Phase has compiled his own list of April Fool’s gags, linked by game maker.
- It seems that Midareuchi, my favorite figure news site, has become YouTube for bukkake figures. -_-
- I stole the Yume Miru Kusuri master disc and am now demanding that Peach Princess license every popular eroge ever made (among other things), OR ELSE. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.*
The last word:

I’m disappointed that there’s no cursing in that Maritan ad. Though “They’re FAT!!!” as a description of the sausages is still pretty cool. :D
@Shingo
Where did you get the Black Hat Villain avatar? I MUST have it!!!
>>TheBigN
Yeah, it’s a bit below the outrageous Maritan standard we’ve come to expect. Still, I find the implications quite amusing.

Check the Wikipedia entry for Snidely Whiplash. And if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend the entire Rocky and Bullwinkle Show as an example of American animation at its finest.

Ta, I’ll check out the Wiki entry. I was always a Tennessee Tuxedo fan myself, but I do remember R&B.
And now for something you’re sure to enjoy. (sic)
