I personally find using Winny to be an exercise in frustration, and haven’t booted it up in a couple of years… I’m pretty sure there are already some decent Winny / Share tutorials around for aspiring English users, so it’s not likely a subject I’ll be touching on here (that, and I don’t want to come across as too much of a piracy enabler when there are other legitimate access channels for stuff).

Alas, the sauce is not strong with the Japanese BBSers. I haven’t seen Densha Otoko so I can’t comment, but if it sounded like “shousai kibou” it probably was.

It’s not dead, at least within Japan – they may have blocked foreign IPs, though hopefully not as a result of this post. You may have to proxy in or use an alternative BBS (one of the many that show up on a Google search for 詳細希望).

That is quite neat but if no one knows about this option or feature no one will use it. I guess it’s better to explain this to everyone, then it can become standard. :)

I’ve had this idea kicking around in the back of my head since the relaunch last summer (that FAQ button has been sitting in the sidebar doing nothing for a long time now); I just thought it was about time to start using it for something.
